I play a resophonic guitar (dobro) and I have used this tuner for over two years now. I love it! I can understand how some would find this tuner a little challenging at first, but once I got the hang of it, it took me no longer to tune up than it did with my previous Korg tuner. Reading the manual does come in quite handy with this little device. The metronome has been great to use in order to practice timing while playing songs, practicing rolls, etc. I haven't used the tone generator much, but it's nice to have onboard in case I need one. The accuracy with which this tuner approaches has allowed me to "fine tune" my ears and I'm actually getting better at tuning without it. I'm finding myself tuning and listening intently to the guitar and then checking the V-SAM for verification that the string is in tune. It has helped me to not only sound better, but also to develop a better ear. The only other tuner I'd consider owning is the new Peterson Stroboflip that has presets for the dobro. It will be nice to own a second Peterson that I might actually get to fit inside my case!

I spent half an hour trying to tune my guitar with this thing and what a pain in the butt it is to use. I really wanted to like this unit but I sent it back, my $70 Korg tuner with the sweep arm works a lot faster than this strobe. You are constantly chasing a waterfall display going high or low in tune trying to get the waterfall to stand still or hover to let you know you are in tune. It was literally taking me 5 times as long to tune a string. For this much money I want something faster to use.

        THE Most Precise Tuner

        By Electronman

        from Los Angeles

This is the most precise and accurate tuner you can get. Tune all your instruments with this tuner's accuracy and you'll hear all the overtones and harmonics come through. Your guitar will ring! Its very easy to know when you're tuning is dead-on--the bars stop moving. And its very sensitive. You'll be able to easily and accurately check the intonation of your instrument.

        Get it or pay me

        By powding

I am a bit of a technician. This is the best tuner out there under $1000.00. I still use an original VS-1 and have never had a problem seeing the display or understanding the instructions. If you can't figure this out go ahead and call a reputable technician to intonate and tune your guitar for you.

        Not for simpletons

This tuner is deadly accurate. People complaining about the display must not be looking directly at it, because I see it just fine. As for those who say they can't get it to stop moving, be proactive. Just turn your tone knobs down and you'll get much better results. Your Korg isn't going to be worth a crap at setting intonation. This tuner is the bomb. But maybe it's too much for those who are used to junk tuners.

        Best Tuner Money Can Buy

        By Stringy

        from Arizona

Hands down, for the money, this is the best tuner for the money. Peterson has always had the supreme leader title when it comes to strobe tuners. You will NOT find a better tuner brand new for the money. Dead butt -on - accuracy!!! If your not experienced with technical tuners like this then It will be a little tricky at first to get used to reading it properly. But don't be fooled. Any Boss or Korg tuner will most certainly be inferior to this piece. In my opinion there is no comparison. Boss and Korg will get you by but Peterson will get you proper.

        Wonderful tuner

        By Mikey Cierski

        from Calumet City, IL.

This tuner is great for pipe organ tuneings, band and orchertra. The virtual strobe and audio tuner is easy to read and hear. I read comments that "I can't read the display..." Well, I suggest, get new glasses! This product is a wonderful tuner and your really don't need to manual to figure it out. The only thing I see missing, for the audio tuner section, to have a volume control on it. Other than that, a great tuner!

        Moderate Strobe

        By Albino Blues

        from Sierra Vista, AZ

Great technical tuner etc - very durable case. Only realy complaint is its poor display - hard to view and read - and understand. This poor quality viewing area really decreases its overall value and usefulness. Very expensive device too. I expected much more. Better to buy a high quality Boss Tuner. Something you can actually use and view properly.

Does its job very very well

        By Stephent28

        from Littleton, CO

Like most manuals, this one appears to be written by a monkey in a tree. Difficult to understand and not easy to find information. They should really have manuals checked out by someone unfamiliar with a product so that maybe they could correct this very common error in the industry. The unit itself is superb and, for the price, is amazing. The blue soft plastic cover appears a bit cheesy, but does a very good job of protecting the actual unit. Other than improving the manual, the unit is everything you could possibly ask for in a strobe tuner at a reasonable price for the home user.
