By my measurement these bone saddle blanks are, width 5/64" and length 3 & 12/64". I have a couple of the San Mateo 1/2 size nylon string guitars and doing everything I can to enhance the sound quality. This Pro Line Saddle width is perfect and I left the length since the saddle ends are open on the Mateo.

Too thin for my bridge. I'm not sure why they didn't make it thicker. You can always cut/sand it down to size as you already need to shape a blank anyway. I will fashion shims from the excess length until I have time to find a new saddle or shape one from a beef cattle bone.

Definitely not 1/8", no specs on website. Thought Id give it a try before ordering from StewMac, and paying more for shipping than for the item.

Would fit Martin but not Gibson by a long shot. I'll keep it and use it for a "spacer" on my saddle sanding jig.

You guys really need more product specs on the web

Comments about Proline Acoustic Bone Blank Saddle:

This saddle blank is made from bleached oxbone and will improve your sound. Be smart and carve a compensated saddle and you'll have better results.
Look for tips online as to how to get the height right as a gnat hair of thickness makes a difference in the action. A belt sander with medium fine grit belt and a dremel type rotary tool are almost essential....though I've seen really talented craftsmen make them with a piece of sandpaper and a pocket knife. Be sure to check the bridge slot for any shims and remove them first. A lot of factories are using these as a shortcut to properly fitting a saddle.

If you need a nut or saddle for another make use Tusq, They work great. Musicians Friend has many sizes.

It took me about an hour to sand and reshape the new saddle to match the old one, then I shaved the bottom down slightly for the lighter gauge strings I also purchased. Take your time and be patient. The material was very easy to shape and sand. I used 150 grit sandpaper to get it close, the 220 grit to finish it up.

I have a 12 string acoustical guitar. I wanted to go with a lighter gauge strings but the original bridge saddle would not alow the guitar to tune to standard tunning correctly. Looking at the original saddle, I noticed there were odd cuts made to it to accomidate medium gauge strings tunning. I removed this original plastic saddle, used it to make a template and created a new saddel out of the new bone material I ordered. I used a Demel Tool to cut and shape it and it tunes perfectly with light or medium strings and sounds beautiful.
