Ok, I admit that I initially hated the design with the tube and the weird side pieces that attach the two long sections to the tube. So I considered the K&M Spider and read about the horrendous bounce that heavier keyboards get on that stand from both high and low ranges on the keyboard, and looking at that design I surmised that the Apex model was suceptible to bounce as well. Column stands are, IMHO ugly, and the Monolith was starting to look more attractive. Then I noticed the obscure but cool keyboard setup that Lou Pardini (Chicago) uses for his two kyeboards.... sure enough, after a closer look, he uses the Monolith with the second tier! Then I found a pic showing that the crazy thing folds flat in one piece in mere seconds as the legs can be turned inward, and be unfolded just as quickly. Sold! MusiciansFriend was quick to fulfil both primary stand.and second tiers. Extremely happy. Setting-up the second tier is ridiculously intuitive, but before placing a keyboard on it, simulate the added weight against the arms and retighten... and it will stay, dependably, in-position until you ever need to change it. And the threat of keyboard bounce? With two heavy duty arms set in-parallel, holding the keyboards there is no chance of bounce, even with the most heaviest of play. My messy Invisible Stands are now gathering dust. Bravo, Quik-Lok!!! A+!

This stand is a joke. It's unstable and the lowest position is not low enough for seating, and the highest position is not high enough for standing up!
It's advertised as easy to carry, which I disagree. It does fold up nicely but the swivelling legs don't lock in place so they open up when you transport it.

Comments about Quik-Lok M-91 Monolith Single-Tier Keyboard Stand:

This stand folds both ends inside the "U" pipe base to be only one pipe diameter in thickness, much more easily transported than a simple "X" stand. My Hammond XK3c with lower manual sits comfortably on the lower main support of the stand while my S90Es 88 weighted key Yamaha is securely & strategically positioned on the M91 upper rack. The two ends fold into the U bracket in 5 seconds for easy carry and transport. The 91M is my main and only stand for use and performance of my setup everywhere I go. Absolutely awesome!!!!!!!!!!

    Best stand I've used

Comments about Quik-Lok M-91 Monolith Single-Tier Keyboard Stand:

You played a couple dozen keyboards before buying yours, right? Well I also tried my keyboard on four different stands before choosing this one. For my instrument (YPG535) it's plenty sturdy, for my height (5'9") it's tall enough and with my my cut-off stool it gets short enough when I'm sitting. For my playing style, side sway hasn't been an issue, and there's never any hint of front-back rocking. I've been clicking those arms up & down 8-10 times a week for two years, and the only wear is the end cap I lost. I imagine it's not perfect for some musicians, but that's why you test things before plunking down that cash. My favorite stand ever.

Comments about Quik-Lok M-91 Monolith Single-Tier Keyboard Stand:

I own two Monoliths and have used them every since they came out. There's nothing better. Extremely sturdy, can't collapse, great for pedal positioning, sets up or folds flat in two seconds, and it looks good on stage. A great design that's destined to become a classic.

Comments about Quik-Lok M-91 Monolith Single-Tier Keyboard Stand:

I liked the way it looked, and thought it might be a great stand. But found the side to side sway intollerable. I added the second teir, and found parts not deburred end caps that had to be taken out with a hammer and chisel. Missed powder coating on a couple spots,(plus gobs of paint runs) and the worst was the design on the teir, that would only work if I sawed off the vertical adjustment peices and redrilled more holes. Might work if I was teiring a 8" high bottom board. The tilt adjustment was not that acurate from side to side. Just gave up on it........ I wanted to use my 76 Yamaha stage keyboard and the Yamaha tyros3 on top.Would not trust this stand with my expensive keyboards. I have numerious Quick-Loc products, and swore by them until this one. It would be Ok I guess for a single teir....

For sit down pianists, this stand is solid, stable, and is the only keyboard stand that, because of its front rail, prevents the sustain pedal from sliding away. It is however, neither compact nor lightweight. Can't have everything, I guess...

I use this stand in a seated position and it works very well. Much easier to carry in and set up than any other quality stand I have owned. Extremely solid feel when playing. I use it with the upper tier accessory so I can put a second keyboard on top if I need to.

Comments about Quik-Lok M-91 Monolith Single-Tier Keyboard Stand:

This stand has absolutely the fastest set-up and tear-down time of any I've ever used. Just turn the main supports at right angles to the rear spacer and it's ready - reverse that after you unload it, and it's ready to pack. The width is not adjustable, but no big deal unless you're using something narrower than a Nord E261. There is a bit of lateral wiggle, probably less with a heavier keyboard (I use a MO8). The instructions that came with the optional 2nd tier were a bit confusing as they showed the attachment screws on the side of the main supports instead of the bottom where they actually are. Again, not much of a problem (for me, anyway)because the tolerances are so tight that the screws are useless. I had to assemble it with a rubber mallet so it won't be coming apart. Fast set-up, LOTS of room for pedals, and pretty descent stability - all things considered, a pretty good buy.

M-91 keyboard stand is solid, easy to transport with folding characterisics. Best I've ever seen/used with one drawback. It cannot be shortened to accomodate a seated, small musician. Otherwise you can't go wrong with the one!
