Comments about Road Runner Double Bass Gig Bag:
For the price range this case is fantastic I can't complain much about all the great stuff about it. It protects my basses, makes it were I can carry two on my back, and has a good amount of storage.
Only two downsides to this case that I have been able to find is the straps that make it like a backpack tend to dig into your shoulders a bit and cause a bit of strain (kinda like a cheap guitar/bass strap will do) (not a major deal since the price is great). Also the storage at the top (where the headstock of basses are at) seems to only really be big enough to store two bass guitar straps if you cram them in a bit. These are the only two downsides I have with this case which is not a big deal considering the price.
Comments about Road Runner Double Bass Gig Bag:
On the whole, and I know it may sound silly to be so celebratory over a gig bag, this is one of the best purchases I've ever made in my musical life. I suppose the primary reason for this is simply the economy of motion it affords me over having to bring two bags, or two cases--that extra trip to the car it saves me, both coming and going. I would liken it to cell phones, one can remember a time when these weren't around, but try to imagine living without yours now. Yes, you could live without it, but who would want to do so?
In all fairness, I should mention the one potential flaw I've noticed in mine. On occasion the zippers on the pockets can be a little difficult, although this seems to only happen when I'm in a rush, so I suspect it has perhaps a little more to do with me hurrying than the zipper's quality. For what it's worth, even if the zippers on each of the main compartments of the bag were to snap off today while zipping them closed, I would still go straight home to order a new one. I've enjoyed having this that much. It's the little things in life, I guess.
This bag does have decent/workable storage options as it is, but one can always do with a few more pockets on a gig bag, hence the 9.
I've used this for all the playing I've done in town over the last six months or so and it has held up very well. The padding has kept my basses well protected. The bag itself has held up well too (hardly a scuff on it), mine still looks brand new, and I'm out lugging a couple basses around town at least 3 or 4 days a week.
The price on this was very reasonable to begin with, and mine has proven to have been worth every penny I dropped on it.
Comments about Road Runner Double Bass Gig Bag:
I took a bit of a gamble on this bag, since it's the only double bass gig bag that MF will ship to Canada. No worries though, I find the build quality and the price to be on par with far more well-known manufacturers, and I don't regret my purchase for a second. There are a couple of fairly annoying design flaws in this bag however....most notable of which is the pocket on the rear that holds the shoulder straps. Once the straps are out, you can't zip the pocket back up! It's a good size pocket too...more than enough to keep books and sheet music in, but what if you're out in the rain with your books in a partially open pocket? No good. There are several well-sewn and sturdy pockets inside the large pocket on the front of the bag, but they're too small to put anything useful in. Tuner? Nope. Metronome? Forget it. Maybe your allen keys and feeler gauges. That's about it.Having said that, this bag is pretty damn good. It holds my J-Bass and Carvin 6-string bass with no trouble, and it feels like it can take a few knocks. The pockets hold all my patch cords, straps, and the power and speaker cables for my head with room to spare. In spite of some slight annoyances (oh yeah...the logo is upside down lol), I'd still recommend this bag to anyone.
Comments about Road Runner Double Bass Gig Bag:
I just got these cases and I don't know what I did without them! The demands placed on us bassists today to tune all kinds of LOWER is brutal on ones back, but these cases are game-changers! I can carry FOUR basses at once, without breaking my back or my basses, the case padding is fantastic, the handles are comfortable to grasp, I may never use a hardshell ever again! Well done Road Runner!
