It's very convenient to have a tuner and metronome combined. This tuner is much more accurate and easier to use than my Korg (and contrary to another "review" does not, in fact, require you to plug anything in). The metronome has a pleasant wooden timbre and a volume control. (I had to put masking tape over my last metronome to achieve the appropriate volume.)My only complaint--which is why I give it nine stars rather than ten--is that the metronome does not increment in contiguous integers unlike most electronic metronomes. It is in this respect like the old mechanical and electric metronomes, but it was virtually impossible for mechanical and electric metronomes to increment in contiguous integers, where as it ought to be easy as pie for an electronic metronome to do so.

I just bought this MT9000 and have found numerous flaws in a few hours. It has a lot of features but that won't count for much when you can't use it for one of the following reasons. Your battery will likely be dead when you go to turn it on because the power switch is SO easy to activate even while the unit is stored in its soft case. There is no auto-off feature. The battery compartment lid is extremely flimsy and sure to break soon. The case is flimsy and when I tried to pull the battery cover off the case peeled open 1/8 inch with little pressure. The built-in stand on the back is as strong as maybe a ridged potato chip and also sure to break very soon. Also, I compared its accuracy to my other tuner because it seemed to me it too easily locked onto with "two green lights" for a "perfect tune" when I used it. When I compared it to my old tuner I proved this was true. Even when my other tuner was reading a tiny bit sharp or flat this tuner would lock on telling me I was tuned. There is also no backlighting so using this thing in a dimly room would be difficult.I am going to return it tomorrow and look for something built a little better. If you have one I did come up with an idea to save batteries. When you switch if off, leave it in "TONE" mode so it will send out a tone if you switch it on by accident.

        Sabine MT 9000 tuner/metronome

        By John-vdtVY

        Comments about Sabine MetroTune MT-9000:

This is a fine combination tuner/metronome. Like others, I noticed the on/off switch can be accidentally activated. I solve this by storing it in a metal case of about the same size so the on button cannot be pressed. The metronome has a nice "wood-block' sound, and nice subdivisions of the beat. The tuner will occasionally read an incorrect note name, especially with the bass notes, and that can be corrected by playing the E, A, and D strings as harmonics at the 12th fret. The case housing/battery compartment, being plastic, has to be handled carefully to avoid damage.

It does what it needs to.

        Comments about Sabine MetroTune MT-9000:

First let me say that if you want a tuner and a metronome in one package, get this. It does everything just fine, and it is very easy to use. Of course, just like most things made in China, this tuner isn't built to last. The stand in the back doesn't work if there is so much of a gentle breeze, and get ready to tape the batteries into the thing. Also, it is not very receptive to low note that well. It often take a few plucks of the low E string on my acoustic in order for it just to register the tone. It also has this nasty habit of saying that every note is a G#. Also, if you want to tune in a group, forget it.That being said, it gets the job done. It's a tuner. It's a metronome. It produces tone. It just has a few defects.

        Pretty good...

        Comments about Sabine MetroTune MT-9000:

I have used this tuner/metronome/tone generator both as a student and as a music educator. I have had it for about 5 years and it still works. However, the battery cover did break off. I have found the output to be a little weak especially when trying to use the metronome in groups (even when plugged into speakers). The tone generator is useful but only in a pinch. The tuner is accurate and when used with a petersen piezo pickup is even better. Lastly the power button is a little too sensitive and I have more than once found the batteries dead because of this. All in all, this is a pretty good tuner for the money and a great buy if you want an all in one device.

        Good but quality suffers

        Comments about Sabine MetroTune MT-9000:

I bought this tuner online after seeing that my band director had the same one used during practice, and it arrived with a faulty battery lid, which, flimsy in the first place, didn't fit correctly. Luckily, I received a replacement tuner without having to ship the old one back, so I've been using two of these for quite some time. At first, I was quite thrilled over the great features, although the tone feature, which basically sounds out notes, and the metronome could have been much louder. The tuner itself was nice, although fairly approximate, as the "in tune" green lights came on even when I was a bit sharp or flat according to other tuners. So for extreme fine-tuning, this tuner doesn't quite do the job, but to most ears, you should be able to get away. Fast forward a couple months, and I start noticing issues with note-pickup. I would play a note, and the tuner would jump drastically between several different notes. I've been playing my instrument for a very very long time, so I know what my notes should generally sound like. Well, I go to the keyboard and hit a note. The tuner doesn't even register anything. I've had this issue since then, and it's still plaguing me years later. I never went out and bought a new one because I decided that I could deal with the inconvenience. And when I'm at home, I use an internet tuner, which at least picks up my notes. Every time I go to tune my guitar with this, I have to hit a string millions of times before the tuner actually picks up any reading at all.So the bottom line is: Yes, this tuner packs a lot of punch in a small package, and the built-in stand in the back is very convenient, but this MT9000 doesn't last at all. Plus, I'm not too fond of the power button. I understand I'm supposed to carry the tuner in the protective case, but since the tuner isn't even really working anymore, I just stopped. With the tuner in my purse, I find that the power button's size and location allows for accidental turn-ons, so the next time I want to use the tuner, it's out of batteries. Perhaps a slide switch would have been better, but since I'm not using the case, I'm not holding this against Sabine at all. Before the note issues, mind you, I took real good care of this tuner. Also, the battery compartment could use some work.

I have used this tuner during my orchestra class. It has never failed me. I especially like how it has three-in-one use and how it is very easy to use. This tuner is used all day by many band students and musicians and is still in top shape. This would be my choice in choosing a nice tuner.

        Best Case Sized Tuner

        By AxeAce

        Comments about Sabine MetroTune MT-9000:

I bought my first MT-9000 about 5 years ago. I will be ordering my third today. I handed down my first to my oldest son when be began playing guitar, and I have just handed down my second one to my youngest son who is also learning to play guitar. Both of these tuners are working as good as when they were new.The tuner is the most accurate tuner I have ever owned, and I find the metronome to be an indispensible tool for my guitar practice. The case is an added plus for keeping the unit looking good, and the display is big enough that I can read it without my glasses. Oops, I'm starting to show my age. Time to go.

        Comments about Sabine MetroTune MT-9000:

It is really hard to tune with this tuner because it seems to pick everything else up but me. When I play into it sometimes it doesn't find the right notes. It comes up with something totally wrong. The plastic is cheap because the battery cover broke. It is cracked and it is ready to fall apart.

Tuner works as well as any. The metronome is louder than most although I would prefer more sound. I recommend this to all my students.

        Comments about Sabine MetroTune MT-9000:

The best I've seen at this price, any price really. Would've been nice in a metal housing, or "heavy" plastic, other then this typical plastic case. But, there all that way... other then that, it pretty good. Would have been nice too, if the LCD, had a back lite for low lite situations... but not really an "issue" just a nice to have feature. One of the better warranties I've seen.
