I have purchased several of these pads, for myself and as gifts. They are and do what they claim.
DO NOT leave them on guitars with Nitro finishes any longer then you need to, they will create a blemish after time. Keep the plastic backer it's shipped with for storage when it's not on the guitar.
The Scratch Pad finish protector is easy to use and re-use. Does not damage or leave residue on the back of your axe.
If it's kept clean, the static surface sticks again and again.... Easy to clean with soap and water, air dry, and it's ready to go again.
Despite being fairly thin, it prevents the cold sweats brought on by that big buckled buddy grabbing your guitar before you realize it.

The warnings for this protector caution against putting anything on the guitar that prevents a new (1 year or less) nitro finish from "breathing" and leaving it there during storage. They really should overemphasize the first part of that warning. They should have written: do not ever put anything on a new nitro finish under any circumstances and if you have a new nitro finish put this product down and walk away. Erroneously, I thought placing it on the guitar for a short span would be OK so long as I don't store it with the protector. I was disappointed (actually, more like enraged) when, after 15 minutes, I removed the protector from my 2012 Gibson Les Paul and could still see lines where the protector's edge was as well as outlines of all the bubbles.
I used polishes and cleaners, and even Meguiar's Scratch X, but nothing would remove it. The lines and bubble outlines were somewhat difficult to see, and showed up best in sunlight, but they were definitely there. Fortunately, after about 4 or 5 days the lines and bubble outlines faded away. I think they're gone, hopefully for good. Nevertheless, I will not use this product on the guitar again, no matter how long the finish has been allowed to cure.
The quality seems quite good, and it's a great idea. I'm guessing if you have a poly finish, this would be a fine item to use. I wish I felt safe using it on my Les Paul, but, as stated above, I won't make that mistake again.
For me, for the intended purpose of using this to protect my new Les Paul, this product was a huge fail.

Comments about Scratch Pad Velvet Guitar Finish Protector:
Great invention! I have only one right now, that I've owned for years! Works great! I'll be buying another one in the future!
The gel will get dirty sometimes, and not stick very well, but it's a quick fix! Use isopropyl alcohol and a soft paper towel! Lay on a flat surface, gel side up, pour on a little alcohol and wipe clean with the towel. You can see the dirt on the towel! It is now good as new!
The quickest way to store it is to lay the pad down, gel up on a flat surface and then apply the backing! Very fast!
The one size offered works well on solid body guitars, but I think a "jumbo" size would be nice to have for an acoustic guitar! In spite of that drawback however, my 7 year old Gibson Songwriter Deluxe still looks new on the back! And she's played tons of gigs!
Buy one if you care about your guitar's appearance and resale value!

Comments about Scratch Pad Velvet Guitar Finish Protector:
I already had four of these and they provide excellent protection from belt buckle rash on the back surface of the guitar, so I bought three more for the new guitars I've aquired. Very easy to install and reposition as needed. Nice velevety finish. Once installed does not move.
Pros
- Clings well
- This is a great product
Cons
- Backing should be larger
- Hard to put on backing
- Must be removed after use
- Not for nitro finishes

Comments about Scratch Pad Velvet Guitar Finish Protector:
Love this product but the backing is the exact size of the padding. Re-sticking it on the backing exactly as it came off is hard. I found a larger piece of plastic to store it on and it's great. No buckle marks on the expensive guitar.

Comments about Scratch Pad Velvet Guitar Finish Protector:
I'm glad that I purchased this and have no complaints with it whatsoever. It protects the guitar and keeps it in place as you play. I've had no problem with it adhering to the guitar at all.
Comments about Scratch Pad Velvet Guitar Finish Protector:
just make sure you read the warning on back. If your guitar has a a lacquer finish do not leave on guitar in case. but useable on each and every time you play. A verry cleaver device3

Comments about Scratch Pad Velvet Guitar Finish Protector:
I have had this on my Epi Les Paul for 3 weeks now and it stays on very well. It is protecting the back of this guitar perfectly. If it fell off and would not stick again I would buy another but I don't think it will come off unless I take it off. Great protection for the guitar and it is not leaving any kind of mark.
