OVERVIEW

Make your Tele fatter and hotter.

The Seymour Duncan Hot Rails for Tele Set are high output single-coil-size "rails" humbucker. Great for classic rock, garage, punk, heavy rock, thrash, classic metal and nu-metal. They deliver a fat, full sound with incredible output. The powerful ceramic magnet, two steel blades and over-wound coils all combine to provide a heavy, raw, distorted tone with incredible sustain. Compared to the Little '59, Hot Rails have more output and a chunkier mid-range. Comes in black only with four-conductor cable.

Bridge pickup
The Seymour Duncan STHR-1 Tele Hot Rails Pickup is a lead position pickup that is a direct replacement humbucker. It delivers fat, full Seymour Duncan sound. The 2 thin blades with powerful coil windings combine to give you a raw, distorted rock 'n' roll tone with incredible sustain. The STHR-1 Tele Hot Rails humbucker has a 4-conductor cable.

Neck pickup
Designed for a Fender Telecaster's neck position, the STHR1-N's powerful ceramic magnet, two steel blades and overwound coils all combine to provide a heavy, raw, distorted tone with incredible sustain. Ceramic magnets produce a more aggressive tone with a punchier bass and enhanced upper mids. The Seymour Duncan pickup comes in black only with four-conductor cable. Works equally well with maple and rosewood fingerboards.

Hot Rail set for Tele

Comments about Seymour Duncan Hot Rails For Tele Pickup Set:

I put these in an American Tele that already had Texas Heat Fenders in it, so output wasn't an issue. I've always been more comfortable with the necks and fingerboards on my Fenders. Not a Gibson flaw, just a personal choice. I also love the clarity of single coils even when heavily overdriven, unlike the muddiness that buckers can get lost in. My Fenders (US Strat, US Tele) and my P90s US Hamer are always my go to for the single coils. One huge problem, I hate the single coil noise. In my Strat I was leaning toward Duncans, but put in Fender Hot noiseless, which are not hot and unbelievably difficult to dial in for tone. Fortunately my good friend is also my wiring tech and he likes to play. It took seven wirings (the final not Fender) and Orange drops to get it right. I am pleased to say that I did the Tele myself in relatively short time. Installation is easy if you read first and act second. The sound is unbelievable. The volume and tone controls are very functional and provide a wide range of tones with the original US Fender pots and switch. The sound is very articulate no matter what amp I play through (all tube) and regardless of how clean or driven. The guitar is even more attach sensitive than it already was. These are a high output pickup, so if you play other single coil guitars, including P90s, be prepared to add a volume pedal if you don't have one. You'll have to turn these down or the others up. The Duncans are also very pedal friendly. You can still hear your Tele, you can't hear any noise, and you get the bucker warmth without the mud. Over the past 40 years I've owned some really nice instruments from Fender, Gibson, Framus, and others. This pick up set has made my Tele the best sounding guitar I have ever owned. If I had to identify a shortcoming, I'd have to say you'll lose just a little chicken pickin' ability, but I'm not a country fan, so maybe the right pedals might help get it back. I don't care enough to find out.
This set comes 4-wire and can be coil tapped. The good news is that even the smaller neck position has more than enough output to tap these.
Typical Seymour Duncan top end product.
Duncans are always toward the high end of the price scale. With every Duncan I've ever played, you get what you pay for and they are still far less than Gibson.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Hot Rails For Tele Pickup Set:

Great sounding pickups, just replaced stock Fender pickups in my MIA Tele, much higher output, but great EQ from bridge, to both, to neck. One criticism I have always had with Fender Tele neck pickups is that they sound too hollow or lifeless, the Duncan's really sound good enough to want you to make use of the neck pickup. All in all, another fine product from the folks at Seymour Duncan!

Comments about Seymour Duncan Hot Rails For Tele Pickup Set:

I installed these pickups in my 60s throwback tele a couple of years back. It no longer sounds anything like a tele. That's why I bought these. I sound like Yngwie Malmsteen when I play this. Beatiful crunch/growl and incredible harmonics. Note: this review is basically for the bridge PUP. I haven't figured out what to do with the neck pickup.

I loved these pickups and got exactly what I wanted out of them. If you want a tele that can rock on stage next to P90s and/or humbuckers but still sounds like a tele, I would recommend Seymour Duncan's Quarter Pounders. If you want to feel like it's 1986 and you're Jake E. Lee playing with Ozzy, these hot rails are for you.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Hot Rails For Tele Pickup Set:

I love these pickups. They really gave my telecaster the edge that I wanted. My stock fender noiseless pickups were good but not for the styles of music I want to play. However, these pickups can do it all. Metal, Hard Rock, Blues, and all the way to Country if you want. Before my telecaster sounded horrible through my Marshall. Very weak and scratchy sounding. Now it stacks up just as well as my Gibsons in terms of gain. Highly recommend these if you want to preserve your telecaster sound yet take it to new levels you couldn't before with the stock pickups.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Hot Rails For Tele Pickup Set:

These are the pickups I was seeking for my Tele. I was tired of the bright sounding stock pickups-they were very good, but I missed the warm, thick sound of humbuckers, and boy do these Seymour Duncan Hot Rails pickups deliver-fat,full sound with good sustain. These are high output pickups. I love them.

This is the sound your looking for! Powerfully smooth, exciting and completely removes that "Tingy" sound!!! I do recomend a fresh switch and wiring set. So much performance! The S/D's may not be the least expensive, but for my Tele, I can not imagine it sounding any better!! (without some MAJOR $$ being spent!!)

Comments about Seymour Duncan Hot Rails For Tele Pickup Set:

These pickups are awesome, the sound is full and there is great sustain. Only thing is, if you are installing these, be careful with the bridge pickup; it's a very tight fit so it can tear the wrapping tape off the side if it's forced too much. (Note: this was my first experience changing pickups on my own so that could also be part of it, although the bridge pup didn't go in as easily as the classic came out). All in all, awesome pickup.

Bought these for a custom telecaster I built. These were the icing on the cake.
I'm not a single coil player but these stacked coils are anything but that. I play through a mesa mark v and these sound amazing. Buy these and you won't be disappointed. If you play rock to metal or anything in between these are the no 1 choice for me in a telecaster.
