Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
This is an absolutely incredible pickup that is worth MORE than every penny. I am beyond satisfied with the warm, mellow tone I get in the neck position. Playing mostly finger picking and gentle strumming, I dial the volume and tone down between 2-4 and the smoothest, clearest, silkiest sound oozes from my amp. This is the most professional sounding pickup I have ever played on and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. Great work Seymour Duncan!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
Guitar is a Schecter C-1 Standard. The literature on the guitar reads that the pick-ups are "Duncan designed HB-102(bridge)/HB-101(neck) humbuckers." I was not happy with the stock neck pick-up. Stock bridge pick-up was fine. Decided to get real Duncan pick-ups (neck and bridge) reference in the literature. Installed myself, it was easy. Huge improvement in tone. Absolutley recommend.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
This pup in the bridge position (along with a SD vintage mini-hb in the neck position) turned my Epi Alleykat from a good practice guitar into a first class stage performer. Great for Rock and blues. Warm tones and high gain. It starts to snarl early in the volume roll and gets growling by 7. Great tone + quiet performance + easy to install = great value.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
Dropped the SH-1 into a mex strat body to replace an SH-5 I'd put in there previously.
I was trying to get as close as I could to my Amercian deluxe fat strat in tone.
The SH-5 was way too ballsy, and is probably a great pick up for hard rock, but I found it difficult to balance it against the vintage noiseless single coils I'd put in.
The SH-1 blends much easier with the noiseless P/ups and sounds close to my deluxe. It's a little more aggressive and trebly than my deluxe fender p/ups, but not crazy.
If you're looking for a solid humbucking sound in a fender guitar - go for it. Price can't be beat for the upgrade in tone.
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
This pick up is great, particularly for those that have learned how to control tone through the volume knob. Sweet warm tone out of the box and very responsive to height adjustment and volume adjustments. I play mine on 7 or 8 for rythm, then crank them for lead - works well for me!
Great pick up. Works well with the SH-4 along side it. I have an Epi LP Standard that I loved to play - guitar feels awesome, but with the stock Epi pups it was just not what I was looking for. Sounded like crap at a gig. I also have a Gibson LP, so that didn't help this axe get any play time either. I put the SH-1 and SH-4 in this thing a few weeks ago and it has become my main axe now. I was expecting it to be loud, heavily distoted, and in you rface. What I got was an initial disappointment but once I leearned how to adjust the pick ups and my guitat tone and volume controls (particularly the volume) I was able to attain the exact sound that I was expecting - actually better!. This combination is likely the warmest hot sound that I've ever heard out of a LP - I can only imagine what they would sound like in my Gibson. These things are a great buy.
Seymour Duncan - nuff said!
You can easily get less pick up for more from the other guys. The prices is spot on!
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
I wing it with months of research, glad I did.
Replace the neck pickup in my Gibson les Paul Gothic, being it was to dark for my liking. I was aiming for a Clapton Cream Era and Metal lead pickup. I love it, such a warm and vibrant tone. I like rolling the tone back a bit, and it's so smooth.
It's Seymour Duncan, it'll last.
It is not bad for the price, the money is worth the tone you get.
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
I bought this pickup to put in the neck of my Schecter S-1 as a match for the Pearly Gates humbucker I was getting in the bridge. I bought it on an impulse just figuring it's be a suitable neck pickup up, but WOW was I impressed! Warm, full, and surprisingly hot! I had to actually lower it quite a bit so it wouldn't outdo the Pearly Gates in my bridge! Definitely a pickup to check out for rock, blues, funk, or anything!
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
I have a korina tele with maple neck and ebony fretboard that I built myself. It has a Joe Barden pickup in the bridge and the SD SH-1 '59 pickup in the neck. My SH-1 is the 4-conductor version, so I have it on a switch that does single-coil mode and out-of-phase mode as well as humbucking mode. This pickup always sounds great--bright, clean, articulate--as good as the Barden, which cost twice as much. This is not a "metal" pickup, and doesn't chug or crunch like some overwound or ceramic pickups, but it does everything else. Chords are so clear and crisp that I've stopped playing my acoustic.
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
I have a Gibson Les Paul Gothic, the stock pickups were sterile and loud. I needed a neck pickup that is versatile and toneful. The '59 is exactly that. Clean or dirty, it's a delight to play through. Jazz improv, blues leads, or shredding, it shines. I had 500k volume and tone pots installed as well, which helps clean up. I paired it with a Duncan Distortion in the bridge and they cover all the areas I need.
Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:
I recently just purchased an Epi Les Paul custom beautiful guitar. That I bought with the intent of upgrading everything out-- pots, pickups, tuners, etc... Well I had been researching and reading all the reviews for months and needed a well rounded set up pickups, I?m not rich or anything so I wanted to make sure I bought the pickups that would best suit my needs. So I went with the SH-1 '59/ SH-PG1 Pearly Gates. WOW that?s all I need to say, the cleans and tone from the 59? is amazing, don?t hesitate when buying this one!
