Warm, smooth tone and sustain of the classic original.

SH-1 is built with the same kind of enameled wire, nickel-plated studs, and balanced coil windings that humbucker inventor Seth Lover used in his first P.A.F. pickups. It looks and sounds just like a '59.

Replace a guitar pickup but keep the vintage tone. Order the SH-1 today.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 Model 4-Conductor Guitar Pickup:

This new 4 wire pick-up is a "God-send" for replacing the Burstbucker Pro's in the new Gibson Les Pauls, with the push-pull tone pots. You have to be careful wiring, because the color sequence is NOT the same as Gibson. But when you get it right, the difference is amazing. Get it wrong, and it will sound like garbage. I love it!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 Model 4-Conductor Guitar Pickup:

I had Active pickups before I bouth this one, swapped them out, did the minor modifications and holy cow! This pickup is so great! It has wonderful sound its very warm, and perfect for jazz. It even allows me to still play heavy metal, thought its not exactly like my active pickups. Great improvement! I even used push pull pots for this and it is perfect for that!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 Model 4-Conductor Guitar Pickup:

So you are finally ready to replace those crappy ceramic Asian pickups and you are reading all the reviews. We all like what we like in the end. But this pickup is THE place to start. It is truly awesome and sounds great in any type of wood I install it in. If you are trying to emulate your favorite player, learn how to play like they play. Their pickup of choice wont automatically do it for you. But on your way, if you want to hear the notes you play and notice the nuances of your attack then this pickup will do it for you. Chordally it is on the warm side but never in a bad way. Like they say, your tone pot will be your friend. Across its spectrum it is sweet, soulful even. The highs never pierce. Pushed it provides a little growl on its own and takes pedals well. Split it is funky and quite nice with the proper mate. You will love it. In the end if its not in your sound direction give it to your nephew. This thing should stay in the family. Don't have a nephew? I'll buy it off you.
        Everything you should expect.
        Outatnding.
        Priceless heirloom.

        Great for shredding too!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 Model 4-Conductor Guitar Pickup:

My RG321 ibanez had different pickups on its neck position - pearly gates, paf pro, humbucker from hell & the stock. I must say that the most balanced & versatile of all is the 59 neck. It has cool harmonics too.. it is very warm but i don't get mud anywhere the neck. Split & combination with the JB bridge sounds great as well. Seymour Duncan you rock! /m/

        Perfect Neck Pickup

It makes me want to write a review only when the product or is amazing or awful, in this case is amazing!I finally found the sound I was looking for, the neck sound of this pickup is amazing! If you dislike the SH-2 Jazz on your guitar because is too bright and useless, this is the pickup you're looking forThis sounds more "Jazzy" than the SH-2 Jazz! Warm yet Open and Clean sound, Great sustain, perfect balance between Highs and Lowsif you dont are used to using your tone pot, you will start to use it, because with this if you can find useful tones, the tone pot in this pickup really worksand the coil split it perfect, great single coil sound, very useful for any song! I have a Jackson USA Soloist SL2H with alder body with a George Lynch TB-12 bridge, and the split coil gives me great Strat/Tele tones! I love It!And if you are a Shreder you will not be disappointed, this pickup has enough power and definition to play fast runs, sweep picking, agressive soloing, etc. actually has more gain than the SH-1 Jazz

        Good sounding pickup

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 Model 4-Conductor Guitar Pickup:

Only reason it gets a 4.5 is because the mids are slightly less than what you would find on a real '59 humbucker. It's a very nice sounding pickup. It has a deep, yet not boomy low end. Treble response is fine to me. It won't get shrill and you really can go from a real mellow to fairly sharp tone depending on where your pole pieces are , your tone and volume on the guitar are, and where the treble is on your amp. At first I didn't like mine, but after working with it, I found what I wanted. The coil split works fairly well, though it's nothing like a Strat. Certainly a different tone from the full bucker however. Mine is set in a mahogany body/mahogany neck instrument. If you go to alder or ash, you'll probably notice it being a bit brighter. I still don't think it would be overbearing in any of those woods. I would recommend this. It might take you a while to find your tone though, but all you need is some patience.

Pickup has a good, warm sound to it. Sounds really good for classic rock styles. Not as hot as Gibson's reisue pickup(496R)
