I can recommend this Woody HC without reservation to any acoustic player desiring to amplify the instrument without modifying it.
I currently own a bunch of guitars, including: 80's Fender Strat and Tele, '63 Gibson ES330, Carvin DC135 (yumm!), Martin, Taylor, Takamine, and a cute little 1963 Sears Silvertone,. Four of these guys get played weekly and my best acoustic gets played daily. I use a B-band UST in two acoustics, and an L.R. Baggs Gig-pro pre-amp with a sound hole pick-up in one, and bought this Seymore Duncan Woody HC to amplify my Big Baby Taylor. Truly, I am amazed! The HC is quiet, actually noiseless, run through my Fender Acoustasonic. It installs easily. Once in the the sound hole it is adjustable. The foam used to wedge the pickup into the sound hole is high quality and there is enough give in the foam to allow you to move the HC closer to or further away from the treble strings or bass strings or both. This might seem like a little detail, but then details often make the difference. A very simple but effective idea. And a fourteen foot cord to boot! I have used MF for more years than I can remember and I could not be happier with their prices, the excellent shipping and customer service.

If you are looking for accurate acoustic sound don't buy a magnetic soundhole pickup! If you don't care about sound and just want to electrify your acoustic buy it - it works. I installed mine in an Epiphone Limited Edition Artist EJ-200 which is a jumbo bodied guitar, a Gibson J200 copy, and it does not do the guitar justice. It installs easily and has good volume which is only adjusted at the amp, but the sound is similar to a piezo pickup - not a true acoustic sound

- Use With Eq Pre Amp
Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody HC Hum-Canceling Soundhole Pickup:
Imperative to know what you're getting in a passive pick up. It functions best with a pre amp and equalizer. The Woody met my expectations. Rather than cannibalize my 43 year old Gibson with an installed pick up, I find this a reasonable alternative. It performs well, I really like the heavy cable and quality of the pick up. It replaced my Markley HC because it's built better (sturdier) and looks natural. I would recommend this pick up with the caviat that you must know what to expect from a passive pick up. The EQ helps recoup some of the lost natural acoustic sound, also provides pre amp. Very good value for the money.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody HC Hum-Canceling Soundhole Pickup:
I might of missed it, but I don't recall there being any mention of this pickup only working for steel strings. I had to cut it a bit to fit and then there was no amplification at all. Local guitar store showed me that it works fine, but not with nylon classical strings. Disappointing!

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody HC Hum-Canceling Soundhole Pickup:
This pickup sounds great in comparison to my Dean Markley Pro Mag which always sounded somewhat thin and "tinny" even when it was new. The Woody HC seems to be very balanced and brings out all the natural sounds of my Sigma 6-string and Goya 12-string.
I plugged it into my GNX4 workstation then into the power amp input of my Marshall combo and went through all the 16 or so acoustic presets that I have for a couple of hours and they all sounded excellent! There was no hum or buzz whatsoever. Even when using compression, chorusing, delay and reverb effects, the Woody HC sounded just like I would have hoped! I will probably only have to tweak one or two of the presets to get them to sound like I want. Even when using the GNX4's 8-track recorder, the Woody sounded good. I think the Woody would even do well miked to a PA in a small venue.
What impressed me as soon as I took it out of the bag is that it is made with a heavy-duty instrument cable by Rapcohorizon that's almost as thick as the Horizon cables I use on my electrics. (The cable on the Pro Mag isn't as nearly as sturdy.) The foam pads that hold it in place are of good quality and it stays put however you position it.
One word of caution: Since it is a 'stacked' pickup it is 1/4-inch thicker than the Pro Mag, and therefore it takes some practice to position it into the soundhole. You almost have to use both hands and take your time. The instructions say that it will fit a soundhole as small as 3.75 inches. That is the same size as my 12-string's soundhole and it was a tight fit. (I guess you can always remove one of the foam pads to make it easier.)
All things considered: For my needs and level of playing, I thought this was a great buy! I would recommend this pickup to anyone.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody HC Hum-Canceling Soundhole Pickup:
Very happy with this pick-up. It sounds way better than my built in pick-up on my Entourage. I installed this on my S6, was so easy to do, the fit was perfect, doesn't mar the finish and looks great on my beloved guitars. As far as the cord being in the way, as long as you place it with the cord falling directly away from the pick guard, no problems at all. And best of all... I don't have the awkward sounds like the built in pick-up on my Entourage, it has a very clean and natural sound going from chord to chord. No, it doesn't have an adjustment for volume, but I can adjust it from my amp, treble, bass and volume. It's plenty loud enough and you can adjust the height in the sound hole and get a little more volume it you need it. I splurged and got the HC, I have fluorescent lights glad I did, no humming noises here. I recommend before purchasing to make sure it fits the sound hole of your guitar. I found a commentary and demo on you-tube to be very helpful before I made my purchase. It's worth every penny and more, I highly recommend this model.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody HC Hum-Canceling Soundhole Pickup:
Bought this as a gift to a family member. The quality is good, a bit quiet though. Noise cancelling probably to blame. What comes through is clean though. If you've had bad luck with other types of this product before, try this one.

- Works Great For 12 String
Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody HC Hum-Canceling Soundhole Pickup:
Installed this in my 12 string really quick and was playing in minutes. Great sound, obviously not as powerful as pickups on a LP or Strat but, you wouldn't want that anyway. Seymour Duncan did a really super job on this one, it sounds Great, looks Great and it super easy to install, what more could you want and, the price is nice. You might think the cord will be in the way, just let it hang down a little and tuck it between your strap and guitar and, you're good to go. You could use a little piece of clear book tape and possibly secure it to the pickguard if you so desired but, it really isn't necessary. The cable is not as thick as a monster cable and is very flexable, the length is good too. This is just what I was looking for to electrify my 12 string.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody HC Hum-Canceling Soundhole Pickup:
I recently purchased a larrivee acoustic guitar and I wanted to get a pick up in it for performance. At the moment I can't afford the installed Seymour Duncan mag mic style so I thought I would take the middle of the road Seymour Duncan in hole pick up.
It sounds very nice even on my horribly Peavey amp. I took it to my guitar teacher who is very knowledgeable about live sound since he performs often during the week and he said it sounds very good for an in hole mic.
His only comment was that the treble was not super crisp, but as I said his ear is very critically trained. He thought it was a great purchase for the price point and for me needing to play my guitar live either at small gigs or impromptu gatherings.
