The Shredneck Dreadneck is an acoustic-style practice neck which features gold hardware, bronze acoustic strings, a rosewood fingerboard, acoustic-style inlays, and strap knobs. Tuner tips and a gig bag included.

The Shredneck is a small, portable practice tool for guitarists that provides the feel of a guitar, strings and frets. The headstock doubles as the body to provide a "balanced" feel.

Allows guitar players to warm up anytime a guitar is not convenient-in a car, train, plane, at the office, before gigs, between sets, watching TV or in anticipation of playing guitar. Use the Shredneck to work on scales, patterns and techniques, practice chord fingerings and movements along with building and maintaining calluses. The Dreadneck is modeled after the first seven frets of a standard electric guitar but is useful for acoustic guitar players too.

While the Shredneck is strung for right-handed guitarists, it can be easily converted for left-handed players.

  • Gold hardware

Great for when you can't have a guitar

By sh00t

Comments about Shredneck Dreadneck:

I read somewhere this guy was saying this is a terrible idea and that it will give you bad habits... BULLSH1T....... Obviously he does not have one. I travel alot and cannot take my guitar everywhere which sucks, dreadneck = problem solved. I mainly use it for difficult chord progressions but you can use it for wierd strums, just don't expect "guitar" like sounds. Cuz its not a guitar, its a practice tool. And it rocks

A Very Useful tool

By TheJoeShow

from London, England

Comments about Shredneck Dreadneck:

First off this got to me pretty quick and I live in london which tends to mean I have to wait like a month. Overall I thought this was a great product its pretty good for chords and warm up I wish it was a lil bit bigger though so I could really practice my modes but the 7 frets will work. I got the acoustic one and its great nice finished no scratches nothing. All and all I would recommend this product to anyone who has problems playing guitar or bringing a guitar places like on a bus or an airplane

Comments about Shredneck Dreadneck:

Great for practicing your mechanics!!! You can even use it to "mind" play practicing going from mode to mode or even difficult or clumsy chord voicings. You can use it to nail those difficult chords!!! Awesome when you cant play guitar, but you can still practice!!!!! AAAAA++++

Comments about Shredneck Dreadneck:

This is a fantastic way to practice guitar anywhere and at anytime. I keep it by my side when I'm watching TV and at every commercial break pick it up and practice a riff or a chord change. It has really accelerated my learning.

Bought to save my calluses

About Me Experienced

Pros

  • A Quality Built Tool
  • Improves Technique

Cons

  • Tinny Sound

Best Uses

  • Improving Skills
  • Maintain Calluses

Comments about Shredneck Dreadneck:

I had a trip where there was no room to carry a guitar, and after 2 weeks, my calluses became soft and started tearing. I bought this to carry in my suitcase so I could practice a few minutes per day on real guitar strings and maintain my calluses while traveling. I bought it only for traveling.

One note on the sound. It's pretty quiet and quite tinny, and with the very short strings, when you press on a fret, it's like jumping 2 or 3 frets on a real guitar. You don't adjust the strings to any notes, just tension like your own guitar. Pay no attention to the sound, just practice on it to maintain your calluses and/or your guitar playing skills.

It really has quality construction, and gets some interesting comments hanging on the wall where I normally hang my guitar.

    Comments about Shredneck Dreadneck:

I'm very happy that what I thought was a random test of a practice fretboard has become a part of daily life for me. I had no idea how I'd like to practice chords with no sound feedback. For those who state that the gear has poor sound, well, actually, it's not intended to have any sound at all. The tuners are to maintain string tension as you prefer it. To my delight, I found that no sound is a blessing sometimes when practicing. I can feel when my fingers aren't in the right spot, or buzzing other strings. I can feel the vibration of the strings, and that's nice feedback. I do have to spend more time looking at the fretboard to check my location because I can't tell by sound, but I don't get frustrated hitting the wrong strings or finding the wrong frets, 'cause I can't hear them. I can practice finger picking and tough chords while watching TV or puttering around the internet. The fretboard feels very much like that of my Martin 000-28, so going from one to the other is not confusing. The quality and finish of the instrument is very fine. I kidded my wife about getting the "guitar" at half price but I hadn't expected getting just half of a guitar. But this particular half of the guitar is where the work is done, and using it is a great way to improve skills.

      Comments about Shredneck Dreadneck:

The reviews made it sound like this was a usable instrument to practice guitar. Unfortunately, I couldn't tune it or use it much to practice. I felt like hearing the tone was just as important as the fingering. I need to be able to hear the string sound as I plucked it with a pick or my finger to know if I had good form. it's just not doable with this instrument. If were alot chearper, I might keep it to strictly practice scales or something like that, but for the cost, it should have been more usable.
