I bought the SKB-66 of these cases to protect my brand new G&L Legacy (strat) on my trip to Europe. When I first got the case I was bit nervous as the case is super-light and the handle/clasps seemed a little flimsy. But this case handled the rigors of travel with no problem. They weren't direct flights, either as I had two layovers, one in Amsterdam and one in Paris. I handed it in to the 'odd-sized' luggage handlers rather than the check-in chute, but it came out on the carousels with the other entire luggage. By G&L didn't fit perfectly, but it was snug as a bug. The case has room for stuff like strings and picks. They don't have separate covers, but the top of the case acts as a cover when shut. Your stuff doesn't end up all over the place. Though I didn't take any chances with anything heaver than that. My tuner, whammy bar, etc. traveled in my regular suitcase. Yes, it smells a little bit when open, but for the price and protection, who cares?Overall, I highly recommend this case.

If your guitar has a Floyd Rose Tremolo: DO NOT BUY THIS CASE!!! The top pushes on your trem and tightens the strings, thus forcing your guitar to tune sharp, and sometimes even break strings! I opened the case and My E and B strings were busted from the trem being forced down! In short words: "Dive Bombers: DO NOT BUY!!!"

I just got this case today for my shector gryphon, it fits pirtty good, it dosnt run flush but close ehough.it would be nice if there was a little bit more space in there( you can fit cables in there about 30 ft wroth if there skiny) since I only have one pedal a mt-2 i tried puting it in there and fits but it seems to a be puting some unwanted prushure on the knobs. overall its a good buy I would buy another one if i were to buy another guitar.

Super case

The only thing I wish this case had is a little storage compartment. My whammy bar fell and scratched my Jackson a little bit. I keep the whammy bar wrapped in a polishing cloth so that it won't happen again. Overall everything is top notch .

not bad for the money

I have a much older model of this case and recently purchased this case for a new guitar I built. The newer model is much slimmer, lighter, and attractive, although it does seem to feel slightly weaker on the top and bottom faces (edges are very well re-inforced, however). I've not had any problems with my FR or strings breaking with this case. I've always had to take the tremolo bar off on any case I've used, SKB or other.

Excelent Case

By Madguitar96

Right out of the box, I could tell that this is no ordinary case. It is very solid but at the same time not very heavy. Keep in mind that it is a general fit. it may not seem like your guitar fits snugly at first, but when the case is closed, your guitar will be locked into place. My Schecter C-1 Blackjack fits nicely. Full neck support and lots of space in the accessory compartments are another plus. The only thing that could be improved is that the latches and hinges could be sturdier.

Nice features - a cover over the storage compartment would have been nice.

A Great Case But...

By Anonymous

It's a great case, sturdy as anything, but it has some trouble holding a thicker Strat-bodied guitar. I have an Ibanez SZ520QM and it's a little tight trying to fit. The quality of SKB is undeniable, I'm just putting out a little warning. It fits my cheap Squier perfectly.

SKB SKB-66 Deluxe Electric Guitar Case

The latches are a bit flimsy and weak compaired to other deluxe cases. Also the covers don't line up all that well and become a pain when I'm tring to tear down in a hurry. It's okay but I sold it after a year to get a better delux fender-style case with the snap down latches.

Saved my Strat

After I saw the case I figured that I was buying a new strat. Some of our gear shifted and fell on the case, when I pulled it out what I saw made me almost cry. As I opened the case I was having nightmares in the middle of the day as to what I was going to see but, the strat didn't have a sratch or a dent on it! First thing that I did was grab it and strum a chord, Perfectly still in tune! Thanks SKB for the great case and the no hassle replacement. I have a new one on the way!

Nobody protects guitars better than SKB.

Ask me a question

Not too long ago if you wanted a heavy duty guitar case it had to be, well, heavy. No more. SKB has managed to make cases that are very light yet more durable than the old style wood and tolex cases. This case is just plain well thought out. Latches and hinges are heavy duty, which is good. Then they are protected by molded bumpers, which is even better. Corners are also protected by bumpers. The interior is rigid foam with a plush black liner, so your axe is held fimly yet softly in place. This model is made for Strats, but my mid-80's Kramer Baretta is very happy in it. There is a decent amount of storage space available inside, but my sole complaint is that it has no lid of it's own. Not a huge problem, but small items such as picks and case keys can get loose inside.Overall you can't go wrong with any SKB case you get.

1st Class Case

By Anonymous

I own 2 SKB violin cases, a SKB PS-45 pedalboard case and now 2 SKB guitar cases. I have complete confidence in SKB and will be filling these 2 guitar cases with a Fender strat 56 relic and a 65 relic. All SKB cases are guaranteed for life which shows how much they stand behind their products. I chose these guitar cases because they are extremely durable yet very light in weight. They are slightly smaller than the standard issue Fender case which is nice for hauling your gear to and from a gig because they take up less room. Not a bad price for great protection and peace of mind.
