I bought one stand to try it out, WOW was i Surprized it held my 20" med Ride cymbal great, with no problems. I loved it so much i bought 5 more. I have not had any problems with any of them.I play all the time. The Value,Quality, and structure of them are GREAT. Also my son plays on my kit to, he plays very Hard Rock drum beats with Double Bass, Hard, Loud, and Fast. For the money you can't go Wrong.

I bought these when I was noob and low on money, so I wasn't exactly out there for heavy duty. I'll say, these were good when I first got them. They held up for a little while and nothing moved - for a little while. Now, a few years later, they're holding on by the simple fact that I haven't fooled with them all that much while I've had them. I've got two, and on one of them I can't make some adjustments because either the thing would break or it's too rigid to move. On the one holding my ride, I've tightened the bolt that holds the boom in place until my hand hurt and it STILL moves back and forth. It also wobbles when I play on ride, and I think if I used the stand for my crash, it would just give up.

Bottom line, if you're really in it to stay, please don't get these. I think if we'd used them in my church or on the road - considering all of the various and frequent adjustments you'd have to make in either circumstance - these stands couldn't withstand it. Go with Pearl if you're looking for something good and PAY SOME MONEY. Nothing is worse than having a stand break on you, especially during performance. Not to mention that once it breaks on you, you'll be crawling back for better hardware. Save yourself the time!!

    Nice stand, great price!

    By Benjamin Carlson

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880BS Double-Braced Boom Stand:

I would buy another in a heartbeat.
This is a very nice stand. I've been playing drums for about 25 years (holy crap I'm old!)... I'm 36 and I still like to pound out some pretty heavy rock stuff. This stand is pretty solid... I put an 18" crash on it, and it's not very wiggly, even on carpet. It's not the most robust thing ever made (don't plan to hang three toms, and two 20" rides on it!!) but it's definitely better than adequate for my purposes.
Very well made, opens and closes smoothly, adjustments aren't sticky.
    Awesome bang for the buck!

    .
ok i own 3 of these stands because i am only 14 and obviously low on cash. at first they were amazing. just like everyone says but after about only 2 months of use i bought a 18 inch china to put on one and played on it for about a week but when i put the china the whole piece that the cymbal sits on fell off and chipped my bran new freaking china. after further investigation I noticed that the metal cracked all the way threw.

Sound Percussion offers a very competive quality stand at a give away price. A lot of other stands are marked up in price because of their name.
Excellent quality at a good price!

    Sound Percussion boom stand

    By paistelover

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880BS Double-Braced Boom Stand:

I just want you all to know that like most Sound Percussion hardware, you get what you pay for. I have four of these stands, only two of which have stood well for me. With the other two, the part that holds the cymbal (circular thing that adjusts the angle and the end of the boom) literally broke off of the boom arm due to 1. small contact area between the two pieces and 2. poorly made cast. On one of these two that broke, there is a part that connects the piece that holds the boom, and the piece that adjusts height. The part also came off and moves left and right when put back on. But I am somewhat of a hard hitter and these problems only happened on the stands that held my bigger cymbals so I guess they can't take that kind of vibration. If I were you I would spend the extra $20-30 and get a Tama Roadpro stand or a Gibraltar.

    Best Cymbal Stand Value

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880BS Double-Braced Boom Stand:

I have five of these stands. It would've been six, but the 2-pack has been unavailable recently.Pro: Great price, strong, can be used straight or as boom, holds 14" mounted tom with no shaking, not even a twitch.Con: The boom rod vibrates/buzzes when used as a straight stand (but I only hear it when I use mallets on the cymbal), after a year the screw on the extension tube has weakened so that the tube can turn w/o being unscrewed (maybe that's a feature instead of a bug?).Bottom line: Can't get better value for the money...or for a lot more money. I just added another kit to my "collection" & am ordering 3 more of these stands.

I got a two-pack of these when i upgraded my cymbals two years ago. With all the times they've been dropped and still holding, I had to get another to replace the flimsy little one that came with the kit. Tough, sturdy, balanced, and I'll be upgrading the rest of my hardware with Sound Percussion in the future.
