This desk surprised me. I scoured the internet for reviews and videos of this desk. I saw the many complaints and decided to take the plunge because it the cheapest big studio desk on the internet and maybe this planet. I'm impressed with the quality and the ease of putting together. I don't have much equipment so the extra rack spaces in the bottom are not used except for the power conditioner i decided to keep far away from my other equipment.

Love this as it works great for editing videos and other work that I do. The only problem is that the rack mounts are definitely not made for holding heavy items, like rack mount PC's, or anything that weighs more than a few pounds as the rack mounts are flimsy and only spot welded to the workstation. On the one I have, one of the spot welds was broken out of the box, but I didn't feel like having to ship the whole unit back because of it. Also MAKE SURE where you put it is where you want to keep it because it does not fit out a normal size door withouth having to dismantle it.

Other than that, it's a great workstation and I use it on a daily basis. In fact, I am getting ready to order another one.

Comments about Studio RTA Producer Station:

Assembly took a couple of hours, but wasn't to tough. Probably best to use a cordless drill with Allen bits to speed things up. It would help to have two people, the base and desk surface are heavy and unwieldy.

The desk is spacious and useful and there are lots of ways to configure your gear to your liking. As others have mentioned, it's a better audio editing desk since video monitors placed on the bridge would be up too high for comfort. The 8 casters make it easy to roll the desk out rewiring.

With shipping included in the price it's a pretty good deal.

Comments about Studio RTA Producer Station:

I had wanted to upgrade my workstation for some time but couldn't find one with a decent design. This was a Stupid Deal, so thought I'd try it. Its heavy, but easy to assemble, and fit in my space just right. I work on music - mixing tracks and mastering and this workstation helps to keep organized and the work flowing. My complaints are: 1) there are no drawers to keep cables, adapters, etc. so if those items need to be on hand, the space can get cluttered, 2) the upper shelf is a bit high for a computer monitor. I now have to look up to see the screen. I would recommend this workstation if you're tall in the saddle and you have the space for such a large piece.

This product by far exceeded my expectations. I am a professional mobile DJ and this desk gives me plenty room for my 2 laptops and home PC. I've added about 4 drawers to the desk that really helps with storage. I have plenty surface room for my 2 controllers and laptop key boards and mice. This desk is really versatile and large enough for everything to include my 3 monitors. This is by far the best purchase that I have made for my DJ and computing needs....I highly recommend it.

This desk is amazing. I didn't know a "do it at home" assembled desk could be this high level of quality. The directions are clear and simple enough. I finished it in about 2 hours.

The desk is solid, stylish, and functional. I love how it organized my studio. I feel so much creative freedom! I think the only way to get a higher quality would be to spend thousands, but the function would probably be the same.

If I had one minor request for improvement, the metal could be slightly stronger. It is 100% adequate, but I would liked the metal to have more substance.

If you're concerned about the long-term integrity of the desk, the only way I see that this desk is going to endure any damage is from carelessness or while moving it. But, as long as it stays in one location, this desk should last a lifetime.

Comments about Studio RTA Producer Station:

After a lot of shopping around for a proper mixing desk, I landed on this one. It has a lot of things that other desks in this reasonable price range just don't have (sturdy, relatively attractive, built-in rack space, etc.) So there's a lot to like. I'm gonna skip over most of that good stuff - because you can already see it in pictures - and get to a few things that struck me once I had it in person: First, many reviews said it was really huge. I actually found myself immediately wishing it was bigger - especially wider. You can really only get one set of monitors (speakers) on the top shelf, and many/most musicians like to reference on at least two sets. You still could possibly do that if you were to use fairly small monitors, but if you're using NS-10 sized monitors on up, they'd be crammed or simply wouldn't fit at all. ESPECIALLY if you were putting a big computer display up there too. I'm not doing that - I'll make do with the screen on my laptop as I always have - but if I was, the single pair of NS-10s would need to be set up vertically and they'd still be kinda crammed. The other thing, on a related note, is that the top shelf can't hold too much weight. It's rated for 35 lbs and there's a warning about that right in the assembly instruction book. So if you were thinking about those huge Genelecs, this might not be your desk. (Then again, if you can afford those, you can almost certainly afford something a lot more expensive than this to hold them.)

The other minor quibble is that, up close, I don't really love the look of the faux maple finish. It's not bad, just not as convincing as I'd hoped.

The desk itself is quite heavy. You'll need a second person to move the main box through your house. Assembly instructions were extremely clear, I was pleasantly surprised to find. All of the parts were clearly labeled.

Mostly I'm quite happy. I just wish there was a step-up bigger version of this desk for a couple hundred more. I'd surely have gotten that one.

Plenty of Rackmount Options to choose from, I havent found any negatives to the desk, the feet lock & that is helpful so the cables dont get smashed against the wall, Im completely happy with this desk, the sliding drawer space was perfect for my Avid 11, I removed the CD Slotted support for the top level with no consequences or weakness from the speakers above, i just cant say enough.

I had been checking out desks for a couple of years. When this one went on sale, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. I had NO idea it was this huge. I like that it's on wheels. It has space for everything I need (especially the rackmount spaces). I am VERY pleased with this purchase.

Comments about Studio RTA Producer Station:

I initially bought this desk because of the fact that it has rack rails. I'm both a musician and an IT guy and had a lot of home lab equipment that I wanted to rack mount. When I found this desk, I realized it would be feasible to upgrade my desk instead of buying a rack.

A couple things to note... There are NO rack rails in the back. If you have a rack mountable device that needs rails in the back, then you're out of luck. Also, the screws for the CD holders are pretty much impossible to screw in. I got the bottom screws in but couldn't get the top ones.

The desk is very sturdy, if you assembled it correctly. I can stand on the thing without feeling like it's going to break. 180 lb. I used a monitor arm that clamps to the back of the top shelf so I can extend the monitor forward and lower it so I'm not looking up. That was the only minor thing that was bugging me. I like the fact that there's a small set of rails above the desk. I have a power conditioner, wireless router, rack mountable shelf, and an M-Audio 2626 all mounted there. It's convenient to be able to reach the volume knobs. The wheels are a nice addition, although they don't work well for me since I have it on a carpeted floor... I could move it okay until I filled up the rack with networking gear.

I've also customized the desk a bit by adding rack mountable drawers (which aren't too expensive) and shelves, which hold up some of my non-rack mountable networking gear.

Again, just make sure that whatever you're adding doesn't need to utilize rear rack rails.

This is definitely worth the money. If you search for other similar desks, you're looking to pay in the thousands.

I ordered this desk well over a week ago, and it finally shipped (after being told that someone forgot to put it on the truck last Friday). I found this out after calling MF a few days ago to ask why my tracking number wasn't working. The woman I spoke to was rude and incoherent (saying things like, "I don't know when it's going to ship... maybe today, maybe a week from now."). I made no headway at all until I called back and spoke to someone else. That's when I found out that it was mistakenly not put on the truck. Okay, mistakes happen.

Then today, the shipping company (R&L) called and said that they'll be delivering my desk tomorrow on a pallet in the parking lot. Even after begging them and offering to pay extra, they refused to bring it fifteen feet to my first floor outside patio. So now I have to find a way to drag a 150 lb. box/pallet to my front door. I called MF and said that I want to refuse the shipment and just pay for the chair... but if I do that, I have to send the chair back too... even though they sell those chairs separately too! And my chair is already assembled and the box is in the trash, so I guess I'm just screwed. So thanks, Musician's Fiend! Never again!!!!! (misspelling intentional)

You have just lost a long time customer, not that you care! And my stepdad very recently committed suicide in our house, so we had to move and lost almost all of our belongings and furniture. It is a total mess, and my mom has a broken ankle on top of it all. I would have thought that someone there might care or work with us on the delivery a little bit. I never even got a sympathetic or kind word from anyone there. Ridiculous!!!!! Once again, I AM DONE!
