The Svetlana 6L6 Medium tubes have the classic Sylvania STR sound.
Soft, medium, and hard style descriptions refer to break up modes of the tube for an overdriven guitar signal. Soft-rated tubes break up easier and have the least headroom, yielding a heavier, harder distortion. In comparison, hard-rated tubes must be driven harder to yield a distortion which typically ends up being thinner and warmer sounding distortion, while medium-rated tubes fall in between.

A great low priced alternative to the SED "winged C" 6L6GC. While. both this tube and the SED are the only modern tubes that approximate the sound and performance of the great RCA and Sylvania "tall bottle" 6L6GC tubes, they come close enough to be effective, desirable replacements.IMHO there were only 2 6L6GC's, the aforementioned tall bottles and the little round, clear top GE egg with the side getters. The Tungsol 6L6GC-STR is a good copy of that particular tube. These svetlana 6L6GC tubes are recommended.

i love um
i went from groove tubes to these and i have never been happier they cleaned my mushy bottem end up and are more crisp than groove tubes i bought the soft quad all were matched perfectly great sounding tubes for blues,rock,and even metal
we dropped one of them on a concrete floor and it didnt bust nor did it go microphonic
for the price on the soft quad its not a bad price could be a little cheaper thou

I would not count on these "duets" being matched. I bought a batch of 5 singles and popped them in and out of my amp with a dual bias tester until I found two that measured exactly. It was worth the trouble because they sound great. The glass is heavy, they are well made tubes with no noise and apparently good vacuum. I can bias them on the high side and they sound great, especially for the price.

My tubes were also not matched very well. The current was off by at least 10% and it made my amp sound really muddy. My advice is to steer clear of these tubes. My previous tubes were hard breakup, and I got a medium set of these, and I get more breakup in my clean channel than with my previous tubes. These are definitely not a buy.

I have been using these tubes for about (2) years now in my Marshall JCM900 Amps. I usually buy a bunch of duets & rematch them in my Maxi-Matcher Digital Tube Tester - That way I can get them 1-2MA apart. These tubes last a long time when biased correctly - I ordered the medium/green duets & tightly match them into quads - they are very clean & clear with good breakup but still stay warm & dynamic - they also have tight vacuum with solid construction. They are a very underated tube - They are also a good alternative to standard Sovtek 6L6 Power Tubes - Great Value & Great Tone - Highly Recommended!!

I purchased two pair of Svetlana Duet tubes, one medium/green and one hard/blue. Note that these are sold as Duets, not matched pairs, because they most certainly were not matched. One tube of the medium duet was basically dead. The hard duet had bias currents that differed by over 15%. I swapped tube positions and the current moved with the tubes, so it isn't the amp. I had to use the remaining medium with one of the hard ones to get a pair matched within 10%. Unmatched tubes with a 25% failure rate turn out to be very expensive.
