T-Rex Engineering

Delivers clean, quiet power for 5 - 9V pedals.

The T-Rex Fuel Tank Junior is a power supply for your guitar effects pedals that features 5 isolated outputs to deliver clean, quiet power to your pedals, just like its big sister Juicy Lucy. Don't let the T-Rex Junior's compact size fool you — Fuel Tank Junior is a real powerhouse!

Fuel Tank Junior comes with 10 standard pedal cables and a link cable that lets you power 5 separate units (total maximum of 120mA) off a single output.

A special serial cable (voltage doubler) — also included — lets you combine 2 outputs into 1, so you can even power your classic 18-volt pedal alongside your 9-volt units.

Features

  • Fuel Tank Junior comes with all the cables you need:
  • link cable (daisy chain) with 5 DC plugs
  • DC-to-DC cables 50cm
  • DC-to-DC cables 25cm
  • voltage doubler cable that doubles the voltage to 18V

Fill 'er up - and get rid of that extension cord mess! Call or click today to order.

Tiny but Powerful

Features:

The TREX Fuel Tank Jr. is a very small power supply that can power a staggering amount of 9V pedals as well as a few 12V and 18V effects at the same time.

It's small size allows it to be mounted under most pedal boards or even directly on the board without taking up valuable space for your other effects.

It comes with more than enough patch cables to power any configuration of pedals and effects that you might need including a daisy chain that will link several effects together from one 9V terminal allowing you to power way more than the perceived 5 that it boasts on its housing.

A red LED lets you know when the fuel tank is on and it provides quiet power all night.

Quality:

The TREX is built like a tank.  It feels very sturdy in your hand and that says alot.  One thing I'm not impressed with is the lack of a "ground" on the plug.  That's right, its just got 2 prongs.  I don't know if that is part of the design to make it deliver "quiet" power but as a tradesman I prefer to buy products that are grounded.

Voodoo Labs power supplies are grounded but they cost more.

So far this hasn't caused a problem during the one time that I've gigged with it, but I am leary.

Value:

This is the most affordable mutli-power supply that you can buy right now.  Voodoo's cost about 50% more, isn't as compact, and doesn't offer as many outputs & power options.

Overall:

Overall I am happy with this purchase.  However, I would like to see them sold with a bracketing system in the future.  I made one out of 1-1/2" x 12" FHA plates that I bought at a local plumbing supply house, black spray paint, and velcro.

The Voodoo Labs power supply that I purchased came with a bracket to fit the more popular brand of pedal boards, Pedaltrain, and it worked great.  For the price, it wasn't a total set back to make my own, but it would be nice to have already had them in the box.

Other thing is the lack of a ground on the plug.  That may or may not prove to be crucial.

Very happy with my Fuel Tank Jr.!

The Fuel Tank comes with a nice set of power-supply-to-pedal cable options in the box. Depending on the number of pedals you a running you may even have enough to get started and have a few spares for later. The five separate 9V lines provides reliable power very minimal added noise. As with any power supply, players need to be conscious of the quality of the pedals their using and the potential for added noise coming from a combination of pedals, power cables and wall outlets. The Fuel Tank is well constructed and should last for many years if properly cared for. It's a great size as well - easy to configure on a small pedal board. If you have a modest pedal set-up with 5 to 8 pedals this is a fantastic option. I have owned it for about four months and would highly recommend this product.

Nice and clean for two days, then started humming through the Maxon compressor.  Connecting cables very loose on the power brick side.  Time to send it back and try something else.

This is a great option to the much more expensive Voodoo Labs PP2+ or some other bricks. Installation is not at all a hassle. Easily attaches with Velcro to a Pedaltrain, either on top or to save space it fits nicely Velcro'ed (I used 3M Dual Lock) underneath the unit. Plenty of outputs (5) to power your pedals. Comes with many, many different size cables so you'll definitely find the length you want. You can also daisy-chain (cable included) several pedals to one single output as long as the combined draw is not over 150mA (check the specs of your pedals for power draw expressed as mA) which will save you some output space. They also include one Y cable for powering a 18v pedal (attaches to 2 of the outputs.) The daisy chain method worked great powering older Boss pedals which require the older Boss ACA power converters. To get it to work what you need to do is also power at least one non-ACA pedal in the chain as well. If you're powering just 6 to 8 or so 9v pedals and one 18v pedal this just might be the most cost-effective option for you. Spend the money you'll save buying an additional pedal!
