I bought a used Iron Cobra double pedal online and not knowing the age of the pedals, decided to upgrade the springs. I tend to play with my springs on the tighter side so I gave these springs a try after reading the description.
They are huge! Much fatter than the stock Tama spring. I installed them, which is a pain btw, and gave them a try and felt they were way too stiff right away. I also have a single Iron Cobra with a stock spring and played them side by side with the same tension and the stock spring is so much faster and smoother. I also just replaced the springs on my DW 5000 so I know this isn't a "breaking them in" type of issue.
These heavy duta Tama springs are just too stiff for me. I'll be replacing these with the DW springs. If you have a very heavy foot and just play rock, these may be for you. But if you play double bass and want any sort of speed, I would stay away.

If these are a heavier guage than normal, it isn't by much. I was hoping for some serious tension but didn't get it. I have a Yamaha pedal and had to gerry-rig it on.

Comments about Tama Bass Drum Pedal Spring:

The springs are easy to install. I have heavy legs, so this spring is a little light for me. I like to strike a little harder than most, and this spring's recoil is just a tad slow for me, but should be more than good for a beginner.

Comments about Tama Bass Drum Pedal Spring:

I found that I needed to slightly modify them for my Dixon pedals, but I relate that to putting aftermarket parts on a stock piece of gear. If you're replacing your springs on your Tama pedals, I imagine it'll work excellent. If you are putting them on something other than that, have a pair of wire cutters ready incase you need to clip off a little of the spring to get it to fit. Otherwise, SUPER strong springs and definitely a good way to "revive" your pedals if they are old and you're thinking of getting new ones.

Comments about Tama Bass Drum Pedal Spring:

Was not happy that I had to replace a broken spring on a 4 year old speed cobra pedal (I have an iron cobra that is 12 years old and the springs are original), but these replacements seem good. Easy to install, don't feel all that much different, can't yet speak about their longevity.

I recently purchased a Tama Silverstar Cocktail Jam Kit. The stock Iron Cobra spring was week to me. This one works great. Larger diameter and thicker gauge wire.

Heavy springs for the Iron Cobra pedals. These add a lot more tension than the regular springs do. Very easy to install.
