One item of note: AFAIK, the metronome only does x/4 time signatures (e.g., 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, etc.) and simple straight 8th's or straight 16th's. However, it DOES have a "Shuffle" setting and this proved to be a miracle worker during my last piano lesson.
(Consider: It was proving to be very difficult to explain to a piano student what exactly the standard sheet music marking of "two 8th notes = 1 dotted eighth note + a sixteenth note" means exactly, beyond the simple assertion that this makes it much easier to write and read such tunes. When i pulled out the metronome and set it to beep out a "shuffle beat" and i saw my student's eyes widen with immediate comprehension, i knew that this impulse buy had just paid for itself, so to speak.)
I took off a point or two for it not being the most-intuitive unit out there. Maybe i'm just getting old, but i had to resort to the manual to figure out how to set the metronome.
It has both a tuner AND an audible metronome in one unit, and that was really my sole impulse for buying it.
I wish ALL tuners and/or metronomes came with that standard tripod-accepting screw-hole. This unit also has fold-out braces -- just like a Qwerty keyboard might have -- so that you can stand it upright. The max volume is too quite to hear above a drumset or amplified guitar (without mic'ing the unit and running it through your PA) but who would honestly expect it to be THAT loud, anyway?
I bought this as a Stupid Deal of The Day. I really didn't need yet another tuner, but couldn't resist the deal when I realized I could probably never buy a tuner and metronome both in the same device for even 2x or 3x that cost.

Definitely NOT worth the regular price. Stupid Deal price was very good. Even with the backlight, the LCD screen is difficult to see, and the beat is hard to determine visually because of the scrolling markers, which aren't really necessary. You can turn them off only by muting the audible click, which isn't very loud even at maximum volume. You can't see the visual beat if you are reading music, like you can with a blicking LED light such as other metronomes have, and the audible click is difficult to hear while you are playing. The tuner seems to work well, but again the LCD screen is hard to read. You need to make sure the tuner is in the right mode, or it will perpetually show a high pitch. For example, it will only tune notes in the bass range if you are in the bass mode. I think that the only realistic use would be for practice, and even then only if you are playing quietly with the device right in front of you. There are a variety of special settings, like variable rhythms (3/4, 6/4, shuffle), and different scales (including user definable). But the single sheet manual is necessary to figure out how to use the device, especially if you want to use any of those special functions.

Comments about TASCAM TG-7 Guitar and Bass Tuner/Metronome:
Total junk, only works on open strings, anything up the neck shows wrong.
Got it on Stupid Deal day and it isn't worth that price.
I have a (cheap) 20 year old tuner that smokes this one.
Gotta see if I kept the box so I can return it.

Comments about TASCAM TG-7 Guitar and Bass Tuner/Metronome:
First time I used this thing I had to take some Advil cause I couldn't get it, it stressed me out. Now that I've used it more its getting use to my bass and is working better but it's still pretty spotty. I wouldn't pay more then 20 for this if your using it just for a tuner. If you need a metronome on the other hand then this is easy to use and works great.
Pros
- Easy To Use
- Feature Packed
- Functional
Cons
- Metronome Not Very Loud
- Small Onoff Switch

Comments about TASCAM TG-7 Guitar and Bass Tuner/Metronome:
I agree with most reviews of the product. If the metronome was louder and the on/off switch was larger you would have a great little device w/lots of features. I have been able to use the output of the unit to plug it into the auxillary input of my amp to increase the volume of the metronome. The only problem is that the on-board microphone of the unit makes the unit microphonic when you do this and it picks up some of the room noise. If there is a way to bypass the built in mic of the unit so you can plug the unit into your amp then the problem of low volume metronome is solved but I haven't had time to look at the manual to see if this can be done. In reality you should be able to hear the metronome at acoustic guitar type volumes unplugged and this unit just barely suffices there. I really like the strobe tuner and the back lighting features and the display is quite large as well. The pictures on-line made the unit look bigger than what it really is. for the "Stupid Deal of the Day" price it was a good bargain and if I had to do over I would buy it again at that price but because of the metronome fault I wouldn't pay more.

Comments about TASCAM TG-7 Guitar and Bass Tuner/Metronome:
I'd highly recommend this tuner. It does it all and it's not just a Guitar or Bass tuner. It is in fact a Chromatic Tuner as well. The metronome built into this thing alone is worth more than the price that I paid for the entire unit.
Having the name TASCASM also is a plus as it descibes the fact that the unit will be well put to use in case you are doing any type of recording and in fact need to be in tune at all times. Basically I could go on and on but in this case all I can say is GET ONE OF THESE things for yourself and you'll be in tune as well as a happy player.
