OVERVIEW

Special leg locking system and finish-friendly guitar stand that'll do more than just support you guitar.

Ultimate Support's GS-100 unique hanging-style guitar stand securely holds your guitar by the head stock while the body rests safely against velvet-like padded legs. A safety strap at the yoke provides extra protection. The GS-100 securely and safely holds guitars of all makes and styles. The GS-100 is height adjustable so you can quickly adjust its height to accommodate nearly any acoustic guitar, electric guitar, banjo, or bass guitar. Mix and match the GS-100 with any of your favorite guitars - it holds them all perfectly!

Friendly to your guitar's finish
Did you know that most expensive guitars use a nitrocellulose lacquer finish that requires special care? Because of the sensitivity of these finishes, our protective padding is a quality material surface that offers increased protection over standard surgical tubing, rubber, or foam found on other guitar stands (a high-quality case is recommended for long-term storage).

Leg locking system
Genesis Series guitar stands feature a unique, patented leg-locking mechanism. When setting up the stand, unlock and unfold the legs then lock in place for worry-free stability and strength. When finished with the gig, unlock the legs, fold, and lock for easy, compact portability. The ingenious leg lock eliminates what we like to call the "floppy leg syndrome" found with most all other guitar stands.

FEATURES
  • Hanging-style security yoke
  • Height-adjustable
  • Stable and portable
  • Friendly to your guitar's finish

These stands are attractive, fold compactly and have the appearance of being sturdy, however the locking mechanism for the legs is weak and gave out after only a few dozen set up/foldup cyccles. I definitely did not abuse it.

I noticed it was drooping a bit during a couple of gigs and so I re-locked it, then two nights ago it collapsed and my Strat fell, landing face down on the stage floor! Upon examining it I see that the internal locking mechanism is not accessible because it is riveted, therefore I can't see exactly what internal part failed. I bought three of these guitar stands for live performance, now I'm down to two. The others still seem ok, but I'm questioning if I should get rid of them after my Strat incident. In looking at the other reviews I see that many other people have had a similar problem with the locking mechanism. If this quality problem was addressed then it would rate 5 stars. However, based on the failure it is 1 star.

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-100 Genesis Single Guitar Stand:

I have 3 of these now. Can't live without 'em. Fits everything - with a little help... A dot of white-out on the back can provide a quick pre-measurement when gigging. For my ukulele, I took a small section of inner-tube, stuffed it with soft foam and attached it where the bottom of the uke would otherwise contact the stand. No, the stand won't wash your car, but with a little help it will just about everything else.

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-100 Genesis Single Guitar Stand:

My Strat spins to one side. Looks like it may slip out. Yoke lifts as I pull my guitar out. Had to tie it down with a wire tie. The whole stand lifts off the floor as I pick up my guitar. Needs a bit more weight or less grab at the top.

This stand keeps your guitar hanging and ready to go without the problem of the guitar cable catching on it. Also folds up to a nice compact size. I will order a few more.

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-100 Genesis Single Guitar Stand:

have been using these stands for many years. In fact, they are the only ones I use. They are stable, easy to use, fold easily and compactly for gigs, and withstand the attempts of children, dogs, cats, and drunks to knock over your guitar.

After about 20 years, the legs can loosen up a bit, but it doesn't affect the ability to hold your guitar safely.

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-100 Genesis Single Guitar Stand:

The only reason I didn't check 'professional recording' in the options section is that there are multi-guitar stands designed to hold several intruments better suited.

Have used them on a few gigs and rehearsals. I'm really pleased with the design, overall. I don't even use the 'strap secure' option, though. It's a bit of a pain and will fatigue over time, I'm sure. The Hercules design is much better for securing and release while in the stand, but then again it IS a mechanical feature that may fail over time as well. A friend has a Hamilton that breaks down more narrow and longer, but the security attachments seem to loosen easily and the weight of the instrument requires using both hands to extract it. One on the stand and one on the instrument.

Quality-wise the Universal is somewhere in the middle of the Hercules and the Hamilton.

They go in my 'stands bag' with my mic and speaker stands. The mic stands are all tri-pod/boom. It's an old, green Army duffle-bag. I'm keeping them in their original boxes until I can find a suitable padded 'gig bag' in which to transport them. The mic and speaker stands are pretty heavy and I don't want to risk damage to the guitar stands.

The singular question is their durability which can only be answered in time. If I get 2-3 solid years of gigging out of them they will have served their purpose. By that time there will be other products on the market vastly superior in which I'll invest.

The ONLY reason I gave them 4/5 stars is a lack time on the job. Love the locking mechanism for the legs. Really stabilizes the stand whether being used or transported. Again it's one of the great features, but how will it hold up over time? This all being said they still beat the carp out of those old-style 3 piece packing nightmares, don't they? Mine will never leave the house again.

Don't buy your dream guitar and put it on a cheap stand. I've tried them all, and I really like this one. Works great for Vs and Explorers, too. Protect that investment.

I have used these stands for years. Used to manage a music store where we used them. I never saw a single instrument ever hit the floor when it was in one of these stands. Can't say that about any other brand. Also never had one mar the headstock of an instrument. You can't go wrong.
