OVERVIEW

Great all-around sticks for a variety of playing styles.

When you purchase this set of Hickory 5A Sticks, you also get a free pair of 55A Sticks. Thinner than 5B drumsticks, the 55A is slightly thicker than the 5A. These quick, light sticks are ideal for orchestral work or jazz music. The Vic Firth American Classic Line uses durable, dense hickory wood. Hickory is a sturdy wood with a little bit of a give. It absorbs just the right amount of shock and is rugged enough to be resistant to chipping and breaking. A deeply back cut teardrop tip makes for wonderful, quick cymbal sounds. These sturdy hickory sticks feel great in your hands and are great for quick, intricate sequences.

Great sticks!

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

The Vic Firth 5A American Classic are my go to sticks for most all applications. I play at a semi- pro level, very active, so durability is important. Vic's seem to last two- three times longer than other brands and im a heavy hitter as well.

If your looking for more reach, go for the 55A. Great product as well! You get quite a bit more punch with these.

Second Chance review

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

So I had switched to another brand but only felt comfortable using thier sticks with grip tape, which I don't always want to use. So I decided to give Vic's another try. I also learned over the past 2 years that in my case, I don't need a heavier stick to be louder, and as my technique has improved I've learned how to get volume with out pounding or using heavier sticks. I shyed away from Vics because the tips were indeed too brittle, but I wasn't bashing as one other reviewer mentioned. Anyway, I played a 3 hour set last night of hard hitting Rock music for 3 hours, and these Vic Firth 5A's delivered beyond what I was expecting!

The tips did not chip once, sticks did not feel slippery at all, and as per usual, the feel, weight and balance was perfect! Looks like I'm coming back home...

Fantastic Stick

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

Don't be discouraged by some of the negative reviews. If you're going to bang the heck out of your drums, you can expect the stick to chip obviously. I play jazz with these sticks for an hour or two a day and have used them for everything from shuffle to metal. If you hit the edges of the cymbals, they're going to chip, but I had a pair for over a year (playing everyday) before I finally replaced them. These are pretty much all I will use now...they work great for everything.

Great Sticks!

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

Purchased these for my husband and my son. They are great sticks! They don't crack like cheaper sticks but splinter instead so they last much longer. Although they are more expensive sticks, since they last longer, they are well worth it. These sticks are the favorite of my 2 drummers.

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

I love Vic Firth, i recommend them to anyone and it's the only stick i will use.
This stick is very amazing, i play every genre and its good for all of them. They're great for any drummer beginner to expert.
I haven't broken a pair of these yet and i use 55a's and am a heavy hitter. There great sticks and i highly recomment them.
The value of these sticks are awesome, and the only reason for the price per stick is because of the logo, very good sticks for any purpose though.

VIC FIRTH AMERICAN CLASSICS YAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! not.

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

OK so they are cheap, and i thought i would give them a shot. My problem with these sticks is the tips. I have had 3 pairs, and both tips cracked and broke off with in a week. the wood 7a's held up for no more then a week before the tips started cracking, but did not break. but you cannot say that the wood is durable. OK. so then i got a second pair. 7a nylons. now these held up for maybe 2 weeks max, not too shabby. then i started loosing bounce, and split the stick straight down the center. so then i tried a set of 5a woods. these held up for about a week and a half before splintering to crap, and breaking tips. i would have no problem with screwed up tips, but once they have a edge they WILL put dents into your drum heads. at this point i am done with the woods, although i would recommended the nylons. no, they do not hold up too long, BUT the tips stay on well, and you will get a few good weeks out of them if your careful. but DO NOT buy the wood tips if you are a decently hard hitter. they will even splinter on cymbals. i figured i had a defective pair, until the second ones did the same thing.

Great for light playing.....

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

The finish on Vic Firth sticks is very comfortable and feel great in that respect, but if you're playing Rock music or heavy back beats, these sticks will not last very long. I have tried several of Vic Firth's sticks from the 5a's to the 5b's, and the bigger diameters in Maple, and one thing has been consistent - Vic Firth's tips chip off within an hour of playing or practicing. Again, I do have a heavy back beat and play Rock and that may be the reason. I would switch to Vic Nylon tips, but after a year of trying sticks and examining my own style, I find I do better with heavier tapers and shoulders, so I have moved on from Vic Firth to Vater.

Best sticks I've found..

By Gordon-9YRtb

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

These are the best sticks I've found on the market in terms of lifespan, ease of grip, stability, consistency from set to set. I don't hit my drums too hard (it is unnecessary and usually a sign of poor technique) so a set of sticks generally lasts me about about 20 hours of playing. That being said, I do play death metal, so gravity blasting on the snare rim, and blasting on the hats/ride is very frequent. Needless to say, out of all the widely available and popular sticks, I've found Vic Firth 5A Wood to be the best, that is of course, if you like the 5A size. 55A is very comfortable for me as well, so I do appreciate the added set from Vic Firth!

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5A Sticks, Buy 3 Get 1 Pair 55A Free:

These a great sticks, i first got them from my drum instructor. And when i got them they were beat up and it was bad, the heads have chunks in them and the neck it comming apart. But they work great, can put some serious damage onto these sticks and still be awesome. Now its all i use.
