Best strings for Warwick basses

There is no other set of strings I would put on my Warwick corvette 5-string than these. It maintains the original unique (and awesome) warwick growl and sound

I bought a new-ish Corvette 5 string and was completely in awe over its tone and playability. After over 2 months of playing every day, it was time to change strings. (For me, strings are usually replaced every couple of weeks - and this was ... incredible!) I contacted the previous owner who couldn't remember the string band he had previously installed. He thought they Warwick, so I couldn't wait to hear a NEW set! Unfortunately the new strings lack "that Warwick sound" I was anticipating. They lacked character and apologetically blended into the mish-mash of sounds during practice and on stage. I'm left scratching my head. Anticipations were high, but these strings were a disappointment.

There seems to be an inventory problem. I ordered these and got the longscale 2x. If you're looking for medium scale, you may want to look elsewhere.

            Won't play anything else now

            By Mixjuan

Comments about Warwick Black Label Stainless Medium 5-String Bass Strings:

I have had my Warwick Infinity SN-5 for about 4.5 years now and these are the only strings I will use anymore. Before buying this bass, I used DR Low-Riders or Dean Markley Blue Steels (in a pinch). My first string change on my Infinity, I went with the DRs and the difference in quality, responsiveness and feel was so obvious between the old Warwicks and the new DRs, I ordered new Warwick Black Labels immediately. This string complements the Warwick perfectly. For an instrument that can get any sound, harmonic, etc. that you could want from it, you want a string that will do the same. This is that string.

            ok

Comments about Warwick Black Label Stainless Medium 5-String Bass Strings:

I have 3 warwicks; 2 thumb 5s and an FNA 5. So these are the strings that came on them, Not to big a fan of them other than the low end is clear. These strings are outright painful to play. like sandpaper. I prefer Ken Smith burner tapercore strings 130 for the low B (can't remember the rest of the gauges) If you have a thumb neck threw check them out. I'm a fan of nickel strings so take that into consideration.

            The best

Comments about Warwick Black Label Stainless Medium 5-String Bass Strings:

I have been playing bass for more than 35 years. Warwick Black Labels are the best I have ever used. They are the only strings I will put on my Warwick Streamer LX!

            Good Not Great

            By CoCo-exlRU

Comments about Warwick Black Label Stainless Medium 5-String Bass Strings:

These strings are ok. They are very playable, and sound great for finger style, BUT they sound a little sloppy. If you like tapping or slapping, these strings are out of the question. They do have a cool high end, though, and they also handle detuning well. But I prefer a stiffer, more accurate string. I like DR strings personally. Good for detuning, high end, and fingerstyle with a nice loose feel. But bad for slap and tap.

            Warwick black label strings

            By Batman-IzpoP

            from Kansas City Missouri

Comments about Warwick Black Label Stainless Medium 5-String Bass Strings:

I have tried several different brands of strings since I started playing but, none have sounded as good or lasted as long as my black labels. I am terribly hard on stings, most sets tend not to last much more than a week with me (including warwick's Red and Yellow label strings), but I can play on the warwick black labels for up to six months. They're incredibly bright, due to the fact that they're Stainles steel (obviously), but what most people may not notice is that this is also because warwick uses an extremely fine-gauge wire for the windings on their black labels.

            Not good

            By Greg of KURST-PEVy1

            from Somerville, MA

Comments about Warwick Black Label Stainless Medium 5-String Bass Strings:

I found the tone of these strings to be extremely lacking. They don't sound near as bright as D'addario's. Also they don't have as nice a shiny finish. More importantly, they get a "warble" in them--watch the string as it vibrates. There is an ugly envelope generated for the string vibration and it is audible. Now, I play hard, but even without my using a pick they wouldn't last very long before the warble sets in. Several sets of warwick strings did this for me. (I use them on an Ibanez BTB 5-string 35".) So I would say these are definitely not worth the price.
