I have played with these sticks few a few months now, and absolutely love them. After playing for 10 years, I have found sticks that I am 100% comfortable playing with. I'm not even a fan of Travis, but he's definitely got something right with these.I have a friend who recieved them as a gift and completely hated them, so it's really a hit or miss thing. I recommend going to a local music store and feeling them before you buy.The only problem is the instant black marks they make, no matter how soft you hit the drum. That's all cosmetic anyways, but some drummers go insane if their kit isn't clean.
I love these sticks, i am a fan of travis but he isn't my favorite drummer, these sticks are perfect for any playing style.
They are a bit bulky, almost like 2B's, so if you're used to 5A's or 5B's you will feel kind of ham-handed. They will leave black marks on everything you hit, but hey, they look cool and they're pretty cheap and as of this writing you get a free splash with purchase of 2 4-pair-packs. The marks come off your cymbals with a little work and if you've always wanted black drumheads, now's your chance, one little dot at a time.
I. Love. These. Sticks. My friends make fun of me because I'm such a big Travis Barker fan but to be honest with or without his name on these sticks, they are the best fit for my hands and playing style. Every drummer is different and of all the sticks I've ever used, these just feel the most comfortable. I love the custom measurements and that is probably why they fit so well. I have a white pair that lasted for over a year and a half. Don't know how that ever happened but it did, and I used them almost every day.
These are by far the best sticks I have ever used. They are light, but still are very durable. They can last me close to two months (or more if I get lucky.) Compare that to Vic Firth 5A's, which lasted me about 2 weeks. Every once in a while, there will be a bad pair that will chip and crack after about 2 weeks of playing, but you'll get that with just about any sticks you play with. These are definitley worth every penny.
My only reason for not giving this stick 5 stars is because of the paint job, I've been using Zildjian sticks for a while and have always loved the strength behind them. Before the black, the sticks were white, and all my cymbals look like they have powdered sugar on them. However, with that aside, they are fantastic sticks. Great taper for a consistent hit, as well as projection. Very light for the similar 5B size range, and it's the length that gets me. Gives you great balance as well as throw for bell hits. Thumbs up, man!
