Acoustic

A seriously powerful amp for serious bassists.

The Acoustic B100 combo is designed for club and live applications where the sound of its 15" bass driver will fill the room with warmth and punch. It pumps 100 watts RMS into the internal speaker, delivering the classic Acoustic pro's tone in a portable, powerful design.

The 2 bass inputs are designed to accommodate both active and passive bass instruments while the Gain and Volume controls give you complete authority over the character of your tone. Increase the Gain for some old-school rock tones or lower it and turn up the volume for great, clean classic or funk tones. The preamp includes a very natural and tube-like compression as well as a harmonically rich distortion circuit, which keeps your tone musical—even at high volume levels.

The B100 also includes a notch filter to tailor your mids and a 4-band EQ that provides total control over your tone. The parallel Effects Loop allows you to use your bass effects in the signal chain, or you can use the Effect Send as a Line Out to a recording or live mixing board. The series extension speaker jack provides an output for an additional cabinet such as the Acoustic B115 or B410.

The heritage of Acoustic comes through loud and clear in the B100.

Fantastic amp

Features:

Relatively basic amp overall. I run a Boss ME-50B between mine and my Fender American Special Jazz Bass, and the options really open up. I like the adaptability of the 4-channel EQ, which gives you plenty of tonal choices without too much complexity. The gain is absolutely lovely, and the notch filter is a great way to put a shift on your tone without mucking with your settings.

Quality:

I've been running this amp for over two years now, and I've never had any sort of an issue with it. I put it though a lot, too. It's fallen out of the van onto concrete, landing face down, and played perfectly five minutes later.

Value:

Absolute best bass amp you will find for the money. You just don't find this kind of power and tone for $250. Phenominal value.

Overall:

I put this amp through a ton, and it hasn't failed me yet, and doesn't look like it's going to any time soon, either. Running an American Special Jazz Bass through it, I can get anything from a clean, singing tone like John Paul Jones on Ramble On, all the way up to a Duff McKagan-like growl for Welcome to the Jungle, and everything in between. Absolutely fantastic amp.

First, I love the fact that the B100 is affordable and sounds great at the same time.  This combo amp is powerful and in a 1500 sq ft room, the gain and volume level is at about 10 o'clock.  The EQ is simple and easy to use.  I love the sound.  It's smooth and clear.

Features:

This amp really has most of what bassists in smaller bands would need: Basic EQ, external speaker, passive/active inputs, etc. Only reason it doesnt get a 10 is it doesnt have an XLR out.

Quality:

While it sounds great (seriously, one of the best amps I have played. You like old school sound? get this one), the head's knobs are terrific. I have owned this amp for about 6months and I have already lost the gain knob (just the cover for it, i can still turn it) and part of another knob.  The amp still works great, but it may not be the best choice if you are going to be lugging it around a lot or subjecting it to a lot of punishment.

Value:

This really is the little amp that could. In my opinion, you cannot get any other amp to sound this good for the price.  By paying so little, you are not sacrificing ANY sound quality.  You like the Motown sound but dont exactly have any money? Give this a shot.

Overall:

I bought the Acoustic B100 as my first bass amp, primarily to jam with my band.  Being new to the whole idea of an amp (I had been using an old subwoofer for over a year), I looked for a cheap, powerful amp to get me through practice and for small venues.  After 6 months (and a /lot/ more experience with amps, basses, etc), I can still say this is one of the best amps I have played on.  I play with 2 other guitarists and drummer and I can still cut through the mix (though at venues (<150 people) I must crank it to ~75%).

So, recap.  If you are jamming, practicing, or playing in smaller venues, this amp is GREAT! Churches, concerts, jamming, solo practicing, this guy's got you covered. You need an amp? Play on this sucker. I guarantee you wont be disappointed.

B100 100W 1x15 Bass Combo

| Review By: BRYAN JACOBS | 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Features:

As far as the amp goes, my grandson is completely nuts over it.  The price was unbelievable and that's why I went ahead and got him a larger amp that he can use for many years and even add an extension speaker.

As far as the delivery, I'm very disappointed.  This was a Chritmas gift and when I placed the order, it was not brought to my attention that this item would be back ordered.  In fact, I didn't find out for quite a while as I don't monitor this e-mail account on a regular basis, so it was rathner disappointing not having the amp for Chritmas and taking until 2-14-12 to get it delivered.  I completely understand having to back order some things but 60+ days is rather excessive.

Thanks

Bryan Jacobs
