OVERVIEW

A seriously powerful amp for serious bassists.

The Acoustic B200H professional head is designed for large club and live applications where it will fill any stage with depth and definition. Used in conjunction with the B115 and/or B410 enclosures, the B200H will easily drive either one or two cabinets in any combination of your choice.

The two bass inputs are designed to accommodate both active and passive bass instruments while the Gain and Volume controls give you complete control over the character of your tone. Increase the gain for some old school rock tones, or lower it and turn up the volume for great clean, classic or funk tones. The preamp includes a very natural and tube-like compression as well as a harmonically rich distortion circuit, which keeps your tone musical”even at high volume levels. The B200H also includes a notch filter to tailor your mids, and a six-band EQ for exact control over every nuance of your bass's tone.

Rear panel features include a parallel Effects Loop, and XLR balanced Line Out with Level Control and Ground Lift. The two speaker output jacks allow you to directly connect to each enclosure (such as the B115 and/or B410) to maximize your tone and power.

The heritage of Acoustic comes through loud and clear in the B200H”a seriously professional stage head for serious bassists.

I use this through an Ashdown 2 x 10, 250W 8 ohm bottom.

Simply, I thinks it's great for what it is----the price to me is unusually low but why I bought it too. I'm so used to OEM's wanting all they can get from me.

Yes, slithgtly underpowered----as rated would be output at 100W in this bottom.

It has to be in the area of 3 o'clock to start pushing high db's, so not a lot of room left (w/Gain at apx 9 o'clock). However, for a "smaller" venue, pending style of music is fine, or as per the line out what you mix it into. As well the Bass used too, needs to be considered----I'm using stock passive J Bass configuration. I don't get the high frequency cutting through as one might with another setup. Again, this is subtle.

So, a negative? --No, not really. But, it would be nice to be 200-300W in this bottom w/that "presence". Not even the next model up accomplishes that it would seem. Again, not a negative, just a fact to be aware of--or adjust your bottom to 4 ohms, consider an Active unit with more, what at sometimes, can seem like shrill high end.

--Give and take, ----I'm glad to own it. I expect it to last a long time.

Great value for the money

head and 2 4-10 ampeg bottoms , This amp blows the ampeg write out of the water. I also got the Acoustic B410 cab and the Acoustic B115 cab and all I can say is HOLY CRAP this combo really stomps VERY HAPPY with this purchase. I recomend this to everyone who wants nice clean low end !

Incredible Amp

By Jonathan Wilts

from Canada

Comments about Acoustic B200H 200w Bass Head:

I play it through a fender rumble 4x10 with the tweeter off and a fender jazz bass. Incredible.
With the EQ on there you can make any sound you could possibly want.
So far no problems.
For the tone quality this amp is worth 2 or 3 times the price.

Quite a piece here... I just don't know what to say except this is one bass amp to be reckoned with. Take care of it, and it will take care of you. I'd pit mine up with an svt any day.

Comments about Acoustic B200H 200w Bass Head:

Been playing bass for 17 yrs, and giggin steady ( almost every weekend) since 2005. I got this head about 5 yrs ago, and am just writing a review...why u ask? Because it has never let me down. Ive upgraded cabs and tried different heads over the years but always seem to come back to my acoustic head. Dont be fooled by the "200watts", this thing gets loud. At an outdoor venue I play regularly, I have my bass run through a sans amp driver into this head, and have the gain and volume set at about 9oclock - or 25%. Lots of room to go!!!! And it sits atop an Avatar full stack rated at 1400watts. This little amp is no joke, I am amazed at its capabilities for the price.

Sure you could spend well over $1000 and something awesome. But If your looking for a cheap, reliable, great sounding amp.....you just found it. The only thing ive played that came close was a Gallien Kruger 400rb, but for the price...the acoustic cant be beat.

Great, Sturdy Head

Comments about Acoustic B200H 200w Bass Head:

Overall: Great Value. I bought this a couple of months ago, and it still sounds just as good as the first day. Excellet low-end sound and with the widely adustable eq, you can get the sound you want for many different styles. This is my regular amp, and I travel and gig with it regulary. I haven't had any problems with it, has been very reilable. The only thing its really missing is a dedicted tuner out, but you can over come that with your effects rig. Overall a very solid amp for a Solid State.

Great sound, but...

By ComfortEagle

Comments about Acoustic B200H 200w Bass Head:

This thing sounds amazing with the Acoustic cabinets I have. I was seriously impressed with the sound that was coming out of an amp that was so reasonably priced. However, after only 2 practices, where I didn't even get the volume above half on the dial, never got the gain past 1/4 on the dial, and never once clipped the speakers, the amp just died. I was playing on it for about 5 minutes and it just died. No sound. The light was still on, the fan was still running, but no sound. We checked the speaker cabinets and they worked, the cables were all good, and it wasn't my bass. Great thing about this site is that they are sending me a new B200H to replace the defective one. Customer service was great and easy to work with. THIS is why I buy from this company.

Good sound, Low price

By Wiscomark

from Central Wisconsin

Comments about Acoustic B200H 200w Bass Head:

I've owned the Acoustic B-200H since April 2009 and have played 20+ gigs. It's paired with 1/15" ported cab. My band mostly plays small to medium-sized clubs, but this head has plenty of power for fair or festival gigs. I have played a variety of basses through the head, they all sound good with the right eq settings. The signal comes out clean even at higher gain/volume settings. I've gotten compliments on my sounds from several fellow bass players. The line out is a great feature. You can run the head through the PA, which allows you keep the stage volume lower. The only real design flaw is the height of the head. When set down on it's end, the head is very tippy. This narrowness also limits the space available on the back panel. The XLR line out is placed so close to edge the back panel that I can't get my thumb between the plug and the enclosure to engage the release on the XLR plug. I end up having to twist my hand into an awkward position so that I can use my index finger. An exta inch or even 1/2 inch would solve this. Pros: Great price/value, clean tweakable sound, plenty of power for bar or hall gigs as well as fairs and festivals. Cons: Narrowness of the head makes it tippy when stood on end and makes proper removal of an XLR plug from the lineout jack unnessesarily difficult. A final note on the quality rating. The first unit I received quit after one week. I literally used it twice for solo practice. On the 3rd attempted use (at band rehearsal) the power light came on but no sound of the head! MF had a very quick turnaround on the replacement head. I didn't have to use my backup head at the next gig...
