This is a nice amp - not too big but great sound for the money. I use it for church and miking my bass for bluegrass shows. For larger venues, I use the amp as a monitor and run the signal from the XLR out to the PA system. When I first turned it on, I had to check the blue light in front to be sure it was on - no hum or buzz at all! My only complaint is that the line out and power cords plug into the rear of the unit inside a recessed area and it is very difficult to reach them. I took care of the line out problem by purchasing a 1' XLR cable and leaving it plugged in. Otherwise, a great amp.

Ok - this product has been replaced by an updated model, so use this review or scroll right on by. The Acoustic B200mk is a very nice, decent combo amp. I bought mine - subsequently traded, but we'll get to that, from a big box store that had it on clearance due to the discontinuation of the product and to make way for the newer line. Got mine for a good price.

Sound - the sound is very nice once you get it dialed in, which was one draw back. With six band EQ, it was very challenging to get a nice even tone. However, once I finally got that, the amp does very well. Very adequate power for most situations - I practiced with mine and even used it in some live scenarios - always used the built in DI out. Warm tone, big bass sound. Didn't think too much of their Overdrive channel or the Notch adjuster - neither did much for me. I use Compression in a pedal, so I didn't use the Limiter either.

Features - as above; you may think the six band EQ is cool and will help you with tone but it will not always. This one was rather challenging to set up. Pre amp volume and a master volume was nice but not essential to me. Again, I really didn't find some of the tone adjustments very useful. DI out with pre and post EQ I found to be SUPER useful and made this amp quite a contender for solid state combos.

Downside - this amp is very heavy. I think they weigh in about 60 pounds. I have to practice one night a week and play out at least one night per week, and this amp was just not handy for moving regularly. The side handles make it easier but it is a pretty large combo, and the weight is almost too much to move regularly. Also, the amp is quite top heavy - mine tipped over several times. No damage but dangerous for transport. There are holes for wheels but mine did not come with wheels - luckily I have a set from another amp and those fit fine.
Traded mine for a new Hartke KB15 - 500 watt class D at 35 pounds. We'll see.

Comments about Acoustic B200mkII 200W Bass Combo Amp:

At age 63 took up bass again after a 40 year hiatus. Huge sound, lots of tone shaping, AWESOME overdrive. never had it above volume level 3. Got an Octave Pedal, and that with the overdrive This thing can move buildings!!Did put a set of casters on it. Plays and sounds better then amps costing hundreds more.

This is my fisrt amp and the experince has be simply fantastic. No or very limited buzzing, good tone and very loud; I never need to turn it higher than halfway. 60 pounds, so not exactly a lightweight but the shape makes it easier to transport than other amps I've borrowed for gigs and things. Over all very good amp! love it

Comments about Acoustic B200mkII 200W Bass Combo Amp:

The Acoustic B200 MKII is a great little amp. It has better tone than a lot of larger amps. It's a good size amp for small venues and perhaps a smaller outdoor venue. The only drawback is the lack of external speaker jack.

Comments about Acoustic B200mkII 200W Bass Combo Amp:

I played full-time professionally for 7 yrs (70's & 80's) Used An Acoustic 110rms w/1-15". had capacitor replaced, free, on the spot at store, and replaced stock Black Widow speaker for larger venues with Gausse 400 watt. carried, still good, Black Widow for back-up. That is all the work I ever did on the thing. This new Acoustic B200 is even more awesome and takes me back to the day. Rookies buying their first serious amp should check out the Acoustic line and put some money in the bank. Clean power and dependable! Well made!

Comments about Acoustic B200mkII 200W Bass Combo Amp:

I bought this because it's being discontinued (being replaced by a new line) and the price is down 40%. You can't beat that.

You can use casters and it has side handles. The sound is very thumpity-bump ... big bass sound. The notch filter performs better than the one on my Acoustic B600 head.

You cannot go wrong with this amp! Buy it NOW!

Comments about Acoustic B200mkII 200W Bass Combo Amp:

An exceptionally well designed amp with more tonal control than you can shake a stick at (if that's your idea of a good time). I'm amazed at how loud this beastie is as well - I've never had it above 10 o'clock on the main volume knob. Yeah, it's a bit on the weighty side (66 lbs) but it does include heavy duty side handles and for a small additional investment you can pop a set of Ernie Ball amp casters into the provided sockets making it a cinch to move once it's on a flat surface. I understand they're planning on discontinuing this model (a huge mistake, IMO) so I would recommend you snap one up quickly. I seriously doubt you'll regret it...

I really like this amp. More powerful than my GK-600. I add an 18" for the medium size rooms via the speaker out and it really comes alive. Easy to tailor the sounds I need. Im hard on my gear and its holding up. What I don't like, it is hard for me to plug and unplug the line out and power cord. I have to shake it side to side and pull hard, Not enough room for my hand. Although I would recommend this amp to anyone. I have been playing for 34 years now and played on them all.
