I got this amp while in Afghanistan to practice with and to play at our small church services. At first, I was very disappointed as it buzzed and vibrated with it turned up any at all. I took the front cover off to find that the 4 screws holding the speaker in weren't very tight and 1 of the anchors had stripped out of the wood. I took the speaker out and held the anchor as I tightened the screw and it held properly, then replaced the other 3 screws tightly and I couldn't believe the difference. I had been very disappointed but now it was awesome. Our church was pretty small and had a decent little Fender 300 watt PA and if I turned my amp above 4, I totally overpowered the singers and guitar and keyboard. Another benefit was while I was at Camp Julien, we would show movies outside a couple of times a week with a projector and we plugged the computer into the amp for sound and it was great. One night, while watching Indiana Jones, we had someone three buildings away come ask to turn the bass down and it was only on about 3. I think it's hard to beat for [$].

Wow - totally impressed
For what it is - a 25 watt bass amp, it is definitely "best in class". I love this amp - period!

Has just about everything anyone could want. The only thing I would add is an external speaker jack because this puppy can crank out some bass.
Extremely impressive fit and finish.
I mean, for the money, where you going to go. This is a terrific 25 watt amp - tons of bass and great features. It blows away anything else in the price range. You will not be disappointed.

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
I received this amp quickly and unfortunately it had a stripped screw in the speaker. After calling Musician's Friend they told me to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer told me to contact Musician's Friend. I had to go find screws to fix it myself. It's kind of sad. This is the first time I've been disappointed by Musician's Friend. Sorry.

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
I was looking for a small amp that would boost my acoustic bass enough to play with unamped guitars, and by most of the reviews this seemed like a good one to get. I was offered a discount coupon through MF so I sprung for it.
First time I used it, it was immediately apparent that something was rattling and/or vibrating inside the amp. I also found out that you can't really turn up the volume much more than 3 before it starts to distort, and the rattling becomes obscene.
After researching more, I saw where many others had the same problem, so I took the thing apart and tightened up everything I could get a screwdriver on. It definelty helped the rattling/buzzing noise quite a bit.
With the volume turned down low, it has a fairly good sound, until you hit a certain note that the speaker doesn't like - then it just sounds like a buzzing muffed tone - like when I was in my high-school garage band playing through blown speakers.
I wanted to send it back, but the original packing materials got thrown out, and MF would charge me 25% for that....and with the cost of return postage...I guess I just keep it and eat it. Maybe it will be OK using the line-out into a mixer for recording or something?

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
I needed something portable for our practice room so I thought I would give this a try. I was blown away by the features and quality. I've had practice amps before that made more noise than you could play over but this is a quiet operating amp.

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
I got what I wanted!!!! A portable amp...not a big investment...an amp that I could use at church...wouldn't overwhelm the choir or other musicians...wouldn't blow the eardrums of the congregation...it gets the job done...short and sweet....a good sounding little amp with punch.....and it gets the job done....so if you treat it with respect and don't over-use it...it'll give you what you want!!!!

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
this is a great little amp for personal practice.
this little amp has a great warm sound. puts out some nice low end for an amp of its size with an 8 inch speaker (I was really Surprised) has simple controls which makes it very easy to dial in a sound.
REMEMBER, this is a practice amp, not an amp that will rumble and shake your windows and blast you eardrums, go take on gig's, although its pretty loud on 3 and does rattle some of my bedroom furniture, i'm not looking to make the plaster fall of the ceiling.
pop's when you turn it on or off (don't see a problem with that)
its a great small bass amp, Very please with it and would recommend to anyone that asks.
If you are not too picky and just want a small amp to use in your room, this is a great buy for under one hundred.

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
This amp is great,if you don't mind A.C. Hum! I went with the acoustic-15B,because it has a 10" speaker!I have never heard a small amp, bass guitar or other with an 8" speaker, that I was truly happy with!
Maybe Brian may's little amp,the deacy! There is a problem in the design of this amp that has to do with the power supply and filter capacitors'!Ampeg,of all Companies',needs' to get it straightened out!Don't put stuff on the market that has problems',even for this price range!
Need for improvement!

Before I was aware of this amp, I bought a Vox Pathfinder 10W as my own practice amp. I very much regret my decision now. This amp sounds fantastic, is small and portable, and is an overall great amp to use when practicing.

Comments about Ampeg BA-108 25W 1x8 Bass Combo Amp:
I have a classic tube 'Ampeg SVT' and a 'Ampeg BA115HP Combo', where depending on the location and/or performance, I chose which one gets the call. When shopping for something more portable for my home studio and tag-along rehearsals, after reveiwing several other vendor's amps, I am glad I chose to stay with the Ampeg family, which has served me well since the mid-70's. The 'BA-108' is a 'mini' to the 'BA-115' and sounds just as good for the environment it was needed. The features are almost identical between the two 'BA' models, which works out well for me. I am very pleased with this product, as is my 'back' in not having to deal with the midsize combo or much larger SVT when I wish to rehearse. For those of you that have always believed in the Ampeg sound, this little amp will not let you down!
