Although I just started to learn the bass, I have been around playing and composing music for some time now. This little amp packs a pretty good punch for the money. It has a very nice tone and is very good as a practice amp and powerful enough to jam with a full band. If anything, my cabinet did not match the photograph in the sense that it did not come with the wedge shape shown on the photos at the website. Other than that, it has a very nice warm tone that's pretty impressive, specially for the low price. Ampeg's good reputation it's not wasted in this product as is often the case with low-end gear.

Got it on the SDotD for just under one hundred "clams". As such, I'm happy enough with it-- a solid little rehearsal amp, which is what I wanted. But (a) first one that arrived had a serious buzz/rattle, so I had to send it back (on their dime, and they were helpful, but still a hassle), and (b) it's just a cube shape, not the one that slants back. So, even though I'm not unhappy with it, not quite up to my more typical 5-star MF experience.

Comments about Ampeg BA-110 Bass Combo Amp:

Bought as a scratch & dent, excellent product. Use it for practicing but has enough volume (without breaking up) for jamming.
Have only used for 1 month, can't atatest to long term reliability.

Comments about Ampeg BA-110 Bass Combo Amp:

Blew out and stopped working after 9 months. Used it about an hour or two a day, never at more than 1/3 power. Previous practice amp was a cheap Crate 10 watt I got in 1988. It lasted over 25 years. This one couldn't make it one year. A worthless product unless you like paying for equipment you have to replace in months, not years. Will never buy an Ampeg product again.

The amp description says it is also good for rehearsal and small gigs. It is not powerful enough for either of these applications. It is, however, a GREAT little practice amp.

Comments about Ampeg BA-110 Bass Combo Amp:

This ampis heavy, appears well constructed, and presents with the best of sub-200 bass amps.
the sound is clear solid deep and the pre-amp does it's job.
the down side is that this is my second ampeg of this model the first was a solid built peice of "dung". the elctronics were haywire and it was brand new. My suggestion buy the extended warranty and place the amp for a few weeks to make sure you got a good one.

Comments about Ampeg BA-110 Bass Combo Amp:

Got this amp for a song on SDOTD. VERY good value for the price. Good power, gutsy sound, good Ampeg tone.
On the downside: pretty severe rattle at anything but the lowest volume. I also don't care for the inputs: a -0dB for passive, which pushes the amp too hard; and a -15dB for active pickups, which barely registers to the preamp. One is too MUCH, one is too LITTLE, no in between.

My primary gripe with this amp is that is that the amp I received is apparently some kind of older model, and NOT the one pictured and described on the website. This is NOT a fault in the amp or it's quality; this is a MAJOR MAJOR bad on MF for not accurately describing a product. It felt like a bait-n-switch: advertise/desribe one amp, send another (inferior) amp. The amp I got was an older moder with less power, & several crucial key features missing.
I didn't return it because of the weight and how much it would've cost to ship it back; I gave it to a student I'm very proud of.

So, I put that I WOULD recommend this amp to a friend, but I would recommend a seller that is more careful about accurately describing their products.

Comments about Ampeg BA-110 Bass Combo Amp:

I had been looking for a portable practice amp for quite a while. All the other amps I tried just left me scratching my head. This amp came up on Musicians Friends stupid deal of the day. I figured it couldn't sound any worse than the other amps I had played. Wow am I ever impressed! This little amp kicks butt. It has a smooth warm tone for the more laid back stuff but, can get really gritty for more aggressive playing. As a practice amp I really don't think you could get one any better for the price. If your looking for a great little amp don't hesitate. You won't be disapointed.

Comments about Ampeg BA-110 Bass Combo Amp:

I'm 68 years old and have been playing bass since the 60s. I've been looking for a nice "in-between" bass amp to complement a Rumble 15 (great for my Epiphone acoustic bass guitar) and a little older 65 watt Fender which I love. By God, I've found it! Thanks again, MF, for these great SDODs! Great tone, good bottom end (I have Old-Timer tastes!), more power than the Rumble 15, which could get overpowered if my friends played electric, yet portable and not too bulky to carry easily like my older Fender 65. Kudos to Ampeg for producing a great rehearsal amp that fits in for small club gigs! It weighs about the same as my Blues Jr. and almost fits a Blues Jr, cover. I played my new Squier Tele bass (SDOD!), so I heard the humbucker neck PUP and Jazz bridge PUP. Both sounded great, and nothing sounded disappointing or thin. This BA-110 will get a lot of use!

I bought one of these on sale for less than a hundred new. Has loop in/out/headphones and sounds great. Had to reglue the Tolex back on the back first time I put it in my Tahoe. Just used cheap glue at the factory. I have several large rigs but I also have a BA 112 which I strap together with the 110 and they sound great.

So easy to carry around and sounds great.

Didn't like the looks of the new version.
