This is my all-around best amp because it's great for jamming at smaller places, but not too big for bedroom practice. I can't stand a practice amp that sounds like a practice amp. This thing sounds awesome at low volume with the bass level up, but it isn't too big a box for the house even though it has a 15 inch speaker. The result is, it sounds exceptionally smooth and deep at low volume. But also sounds awesome turned up loud. It doesn't lose that quality sound when turned up like a lot of amps do in this power range. It'll knock your roof off if you turn it half way up! It's just the right amount of power and size for practice or jamming. No, it's not what you would want to use to keep up with a Marshall 100 watt tube amp cranked, but it will do well at a smaller club. And of course great if it's miced at a bigger place. It has a great sound quality I can't find in other amps. Ampeg is known for that special crystal clear smooth deep sound, and that's exactly what you get with this amp. Can't go wrong here especially for the price. Oh and that "hissing sound" I read in other reviews from the tweeter! It sounds like nothing more than a delicate whisper of air. It's barely noticable and that's only if you're trying to listen for it, so calling it a "hiss" is an exaggeration. Anyway, it doesn't bother me in the slightest bit. Most amps are not absolutely dead quiet when they are turned on and this is no different. In fact, I find it exceptionally quiet. But if it did bother you, then unplug it. The amp would sound just as good without it anyway. But I'll bet you'll agree that it's nothing to even think about. The sound quality is there anyway you look at it.
Not a 10 on features because it's fairly basic, but really all you need.
    Solid as a rock.
Value is a 10+ because it's very reasonably priced for what your getting.

I am a drummer of 43 years. I still rock with the best of them.I built a rehearsal studio to work with other musicians.I have played with some of the best bassists you will ever hear so I know what a good bass and player sound like. I furnished the studio with a bass,a guitar and a couple of amps. I always liked the sound of the old school tube amps that Ampeg used to make.I figured an amp that was manufactured 30 years later would be state of the art.I had the music stores resident bassist demo the amp for me since my talent on the bass guitar is limited. It actually sounded pretty good for the price.I asked if they had a vinyl cover complimentary. If not I will purchase it. I was told that Ampeg does not make a cover for this amp.I was disapointed because they used to be included in the deal and I am a fanatic about keeping my equipment like new. I brought it home and gave it a spin. The hissing was awful unlike the demo in the store.I concluded that it was probably the wiring in my 50 year old house So I kept it. Three days later I plugged it in. The red light came on but the amp was dead silent. The music store would not replace it but took it in for a week to be repaired. Now I have a brand new Ampeg that can only be used as a monitor at best. My hard earned money was wasted. The reputation of Ampeg has been spoiled. I do not recomend this amp regardless of the price. Ya the price was good, but look what it cost me.I was impressed with the service, the quality, and price of some drum equipment I recently purchased from Muscians Friend. They earned a loyal customer.

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

Amp made an awful humming noise when using the xlr out.
Was not even loud enough to rehearse with the full band, even using electronic drums and turning them down.
Thought Ampeg was the best, going to try a peavey this go around.

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

Ive had one of these beautz for about 5 years now. Being a Metal and hard rock guy; Its taken a beating [falling out of trucks, down staircases] and its still in great shape. The passive jack is a little bit muffeled [great for practice] and the active jack is LOUD! It can get "hissy" at very low volumes, but when youre playing anything past 2 on the dial it levels out. My drummer plays through a PA, and at practice and its droned him out on more than one occasion. Great "Bang for the Buck". Its sturdy & Loud; the only gripe is the weight, a bit heavy, but beer heals all wounds...

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

I received this amp as a gift and it by far beats out my other amp any day. It captures both the high ends and low ends on my bass guitars and the dual jacks allow for me to use both my passive and active basses. This amp is small enough to go to little band practice sessions but is powerful enough to do any small to mid sized venue. I couldn't recommend this amp enough, whether you are an amateur player to the more experienced performers.

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

So this was a Condition 2 used amp. When I plugged my J bass in the sound was distorted. As a long time player, I knew that the speaker was blown. The outside of the amp was clean and seemed to be virtually new. But..it just was not working. Called MF...as usual these folks were great. No muss, no fuss. They sent me a return shipping label and all was quickly taken care of. Talked with a rep and he suggested an alternate amp (Ampeg); which I ordered. He took his time and was very helpful. Buying online can be a hassle and a gamble, but I never find there are any issues with MF. They got my biz.

            Amazing Construction

            By Alex Munsterman

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

Overall, great features, great quality and construction and it's well worth the money. It fell out of a pickup on the highway and still works fine! What else can I say?
Very nice features, the style selector is nice, it allows you to have a more mellow sound or a sound with more treble with the turn of a knob. The -15dB jack sounds like you're playing through a muffler, but I don't use it, so it doesn't bother me.
These amps are very well built. Someone was hauling it in their pickup going 30 mph down the highway, and it fell out, with only some scratching on the metal corner guards and the side. I was very pleased with the outcome!
It's a great buy for $380. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

            I kid you not!

Comments about Ampeg BA115 Bass Combo:

I was reluctant to try this amp because I have always been more of a Fender likey, or occasonally I favored Peavey. I tried Ampeg once in a small 25 watt practice amp and it was defective with a static buzz so I never considered Ampeg again. Well, that was a stupid decision based on something like that! Ampeg is a great amp and I shouldn't have judged on one bad experience. This amp is probably the best sounding amp I've ever owened. It has an ULTRA deep smooth sound that just makes you wanna play more and hit those deep notes as if they were a gift. 100 watts in your house? I turn it to level two and it's shaking the earth. I am totally sold on Ampeg now and will buy another one. If you're looking for something in midrange power you can practice with but have enough power for a garage band, this is definitely the one to get. Fender's Rumble 150 is close, but just doesn't have that "super deep" feel it bones sound. This is supposedly 50 watts less but you sure can't tell. This thing will definitely rock the house and make your buddy's guitar sound extra good when you jam rhythm with him... Can't beat it.
