About 8 years ago I bought Ampeg's SVT4-PRO amp and the salesperson hooked it up to two PR-410HLFs. Finally a rig that could handle the wide-ranging output of a powerful head. Slapping the strings of a TRB-6P made your ears ring, and boosting the low end made the floor shake, all at the same time! With the two speakers rated at 4 ohms the SVT4-PRO peaks at about 5-600 watts per channel stereo, or 12-1600 watts bridged. Properly set up it can fill even large dance halls. The gear has taken some hard knocks and the undersized speaker castors broke off years ago (hence the "9" on the quality scale), otherwise it has all worked flawlessly all this time and hopefully will do for years to come.

I have been playing on Boogie Powerhouse 15" & 10" and the 1516 Powerhouse cabs. I got the Ampeg 410HLF with the SVT4 Pro, let me tell ya, this has more bottom-end than ANY 15" I have ever had and more tonal range than any 410 I have ever heard! I'm going to buy another 410HLF cabinet this month. Say bye, bye to any rig you are playing, and get the last one you will ever need (or want)! You won't be disappointed. I use a USA Spector 4-string with Elixer strings, mostly in 'drop-D' tuning (if you are wondering as far as tone is concerned).

Best in the Biz

This is the finest bass cab available. Thunderous lows and crystal highs. The mids punch with clear pounding power. I own 2 and power with a B5R and a Fender Bassman 300 Pro Bi-Amp. I have also run a MusicMan HD130 tube head and an Acoustic 220 solid state head thru them. All sound great.

I have been playing bass for over 25 yrs. I have never heard a better sounding bass enclosure. This thing is a brute. I bought 2 of them and they surpassed my expectations totally. I run my stack with an Ampeg SVT Pro 4. These cabs are totally sealed, so you really feel the "thump". The quality is definitely worth the price! You won't be sorry you invested your $$$ on this one!

Punchy Tone Monster

I recently replaced my vintage 2-15 Acoustic cab with this beast. It's a heavy mutha so get a Van. But oh my the tone is incredible! I got mine hooked up to a Peavy pre-amp to a Sun 800w slave. It's scary how loud and clear I can get. But thats only when I'm by myself and the neighbors are all gone.

THE bass cab

Paired with my B5R head, this cab REALLY cranks! Even when getting a much hotter signal from an Aguilar DB750 the cab holds it's own very well. Throw on a set of casters and you're ready to rock!

HANDS DOWN, THE BEST

The Ampeg PR-410HLF is by far the best cab I have ever used. It produces amazing lows, and great highs. This is by far the best cab that Ampeg makes. In my opinion, it is the best bass cab ever made. I have had mine for about four months and love everything about. It weighs a bit much... but for the sound you get out of it, it is worth it. This cab is worth every penny.

Ampeg Pro Series 4x10

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

The cab of my dreams! This cab can produce thundering lows, crisp highs and clean mids. A tad of on the heavy side, but nothing a friend can't help you lift. I love this cab, and if anything ever happened to it, I'd replace it in a heartbeat.

perfect tone.

By Chris-_Ra15

from Wichita, KS

I bought this cab for it's tone. It is so solidly built that it can reproduce your tone perfectly....and for the warm, clean tone that I need, this is the only cab (in it's price range) for me. I wish they made an 8x10 version of it...but that thing would be pretty freakin heavy.

AMAZING! NO MORE 8X10 EVER

This cab is beautiful. Masterfully crafted, excellently ported, and overall a real eyepleaser. But wait! What is that sound? Oh my gosh, its bass, and lots of it. But this bass isn't muddy, floppy, or painfully loud. It's just right. Hands down best all around cab in America. Gotta love ampeg...

bassist seconds that emotion!!!

By MIke Kelly of TREBEK

A lot of people writing review mention the lows and the highs of this cab. I agree that the lows are incredibly clear and brilliant. The highs are great and not too harsh even with the horn turned up! That was exciting. But man, the Mids of this cab have the best growl I have ever heard. Something you only dream of or do not think is possible. That is my sound, man! LOVE IT!

What can I say? If your looking for clean Mids and Punchy Lowend then this is your bass cab. 38Hz frequency response with 29 usable Hz. 600 watts RMS with 1200 watt Peak gives you plenty of head room for high output gigs. Great as a single cab or even better with the SVT18. I use it with the Ampeg B500DR bass head. A tad weighty, but worth every pound.Buy it and become a believer.

Sounds like its weight in gold

By insolentbassist

Speakon and 1/4" inputs are a must for any professional setup, sounds clean even at high volumes. If you sit in front of it while you're playing you can feel the air with every note you hit (you have to wear ear-plugs of course)

Best Ampeg yet......

By Thrice3160

I've played plenty of cabs in my 5 years of bass, but this tops everything! I've played SWR cabs twice as expensive and only half as good as this one. A 4x10 that can hit lows better than an 18" cab. Definately the best 4x10 out there... might be heavy but thats not much of an issue. This head fits perfectly with a B-4R head or a classic head.

Great cabinet

By sumpthincookin.com

This is a superb cabinet, sound and construction are outstanding. My only negative comments are nits - I'm a working bass player in L.A. and the cab sees lots of travel - the finish is wearing a bit & the casters have been replaced. This cab has taken quite a bit of abuse over the last 4 years and it's still a "sound" investment! Ha!

Best Bass Cab Ever

By Pro Basssist

from Los Angeles

Looking back at 29 years of playing bass professionally, this is simply put the best bass cab ever made. Two of these combined with any of my many Trace Elliot amps kaboom !!! People react to my setup and the sound it produces like someone just filled them in on what the meaning of life was ...And the absolut funniest thing is: I absolutely HATE 8x10 SVT's. to me , they are the worst thing ever made ! So here I am, using and loving my Ampeg Pr 410 HLF's. My highest regards to whoever at AMPEG finally figured out how to make a bass cab !

More bass response than my Mesa Boogie Powerhouse cabs - I love it so much, I bought two! You won't be disappointed. Amazing tonal range for any style of music. Crystal clear highs, smooth even mids, earth shattering lows, go get one and start enjoying your on stage sound for once...

Solid construction and I'm very heavy! It will compete with your guitarist, however, it lacks some clarity.
