As many already know, This is the standard rock bass cab! I cant imagine somebody who plays live music being unhappy with this cab. Unless, your Victor Wooten/ you need special metal speaker cones to be heard/ bad back / you take the bus!
This cab has it all. For being the largest piece of equipment we have to lug around, Ampeg made sure they added a few features to make life easier. It's got wheels, kick plate , solid metal grab handle and I like the plastic sliders down the back! It did not get a 10 because the tolex is very thin and seems to rip easier then any other cab. Also, as many have already mentioned, Its heavy.
To me the quality comes out through the cabinet and speakers! I have played a few different heads through it over the years and it even made a 180watt '83 peavey sound good! I have owned and played through Ampeg 4X10hlf and Ampeg 6X10, even some 2X15's but nothing likes to be pushed as hard as the 8X10. Of course, all the cabs I mentioned have all the deep deep low's one could ever want but Ampeg just got the formula rite on this cab and growls like no other. Just sounds better then anything when in a high gain guitar driven band!!!
Like any of my favorite pieces of gear, Its not cheap! But unless you have already owned one and try'n something new or playing music other then thrash metal, I still don't see the Value in needing to spend more for a cab like Eden, Aguilar, Mesa the list goes on and on. I personally play a Mesa Mpulse600 and I think it has all the tone I would ever need and sounds perfectly balanced through the Ampeg cab. The perfect speaker breakup and The perfect rig for me!

I love the sound of this cabinet and wouldn't trade it for another as far as sound is concerned, but for 1000 retail, the tolex is pathetic. It is the absolute worst tolex job I've seen and that's including my 40 year old peavey cabs. I am very disappointed in the already peeling after 2 weeks tolex that looks like it was put on by children. Yet, you get a cabinet for the sound, just disappointing that they don't have more pride in their work. After I spend another 200 to get it tolexed properly, it will be an irreplaceable part of my rig

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I use this cab in conjunction with my SVT4, run bridged mono. POWER POWER POWER! The tone is unmatched, and my rig is the envy of almost every bass player who has come accross it.

You would be stupid not to buy one of these. If you're a pro, or even thinking about playing a live show, this is the cab for you. I got mine for free from a friend who quit. It's an american made cab (good luck finding one of those anymore), and it's beat to hell. The case covering is gone, I've drug the thing down a million flights of stairs, it was hit by a drunk driver, and is covered in "street art" provided by Don't Fret (artist). Still sounds incredible, though. This is the single most reliable hunk of junk I have ever had the pleasure of playing.

    Buy. This. Cab. Dummy.

My Cab Can Eat Your Cab

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

2 tours, 135 shows and I am here to tell you this is the cab that will go the miles. Punchy with out being muddy, and able to take what every head you plug into it. This is a pro's cab not the kinda thing your going to shove into the back of your Honda Civic. I tour with 2 of these and it takes a trailer to do it. All the weight of the cab is more then worth for the sound. When you play bass you want your sound to be felt and herd, to do that your going to need a wall of speakers... This is a wall on wheels. From smooth to grind you will be able to pull out the sound you want. The only complaint about this cab is all aesthetic. For reasons that work against everything ever, Ampeg has never gotten away from using tolex and acoustic fabric to cover the sides and speakers respectively. That being said as your grand mother covered her beloved couch with plastic, so should you cover this with a good live in case. You paid a grand for this cab don't be cheep in the care of it. IF you take care of it, IT will take care of you! This maybe the cab your father depended on but with the right sound re-enforcement you will get a tone he never thought about! And don't worry this bad boy can take the highest powered, pickups and the hottest pre-amp you can throw at it.Pairs up nicely with any Ampeg head or Line 6 products. In the end this cab has the only two things that really matter.Dependability and Tone.Thats all you will ever need!

    You will feel the difference

    By vdevillavi

    from Geneva, NY

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

You can actually feel the notes coming out of this thunderous cab like a punch to the chest. A jet engine produces 140db of sound and this cab will cut through a mix of jetliners like they weren?t even there. The 810E produces great tones due to it?s internal 210 x 4 internal cabinets construction. You can go as loud as you want and still keep all the great tone and fidelity you want. This cab was made to be played mono bridged through a 1600w amp and longs to be connected to a ?big gun? amp; Mesa, Ampeg, GK, Carvin, SWR, you name it. The bigger the amp, the better, it has no limits. Don?t stand in front of this cab at full power, it may be dangerous. Mine is mono bridged into an SVT 4 Pro. Make sure you?re using the correct Ampeg wired Speakon connector to get all the power from your amp. You will feel the difference.

    Very Nice, Homework Required

    By MakeAmpegInAmerica!

    from Western NY

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

the ampeg 8x10 is the definitive pro cabeinet for bass players, and has been since the seventies. it sounds wonderful with its ringing clear tones, thunderous (for tens) lows, and inner ear shattering volume. overall, a good purchase, and i do recommend it. however, they are no longer american made! mine was produced in china, and the svt head i was going to buy new was made in korea. i got a used american head which to me is all the difference, but unfortunately, a good condition used american cab is difficult to come by. do your homework and shop around!

    Eh...

    By MeBass

    from NYC

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I've owned this cabinet and toured all over the country with it for over a year. It gets the job done, but if you want superior quality, tone, an customer service, go with an Aguilar instead. I replaced my SVT-810E with an Aguilar DB810, and I haven't looked back. Compare the specs. You'll find that the DB810 is FAR better than the Ampeg.p.s. Ampeg, try making wheels that don't keep breaking off.

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I've always been Ampeg all the way after hearing them for the first time. I used to run an Ampeg 4x10"+1x15" but still wasnt completely satisfied. It sounded great but simply wasn't quite loud enough. Now, using the svt-810, I am completely satisfied! Great response all around! Sounds perfect using my Warwick Thumb, American Jazz, or Gibson Thunderbird! No wander it's the industry standard! Advice: buy a flight case for it! they get tore up gigging!

Comments about Ampeg SVT-810E Bass Enclosure:

I have this cab with an original magnavox 1970 Svt head, Man the low end just kicks you down especially with a fine gibson thunderbird in front by far the best thing I have ever bought- only problem cumbersome and very heavy hard to travel light but worth the cash.
