Cons

Best Uses

  • Funky Bass

Comments about Ashdown Envelope Filter Bass FX Pedal:

I have a multi-effect pedal for bass and I find it completely unusable. When I turn it on, my low end drops out. I kind of bought this pedal on a whim as a deal of the day and was hoping that this would not be the same. I'm glad to report that this box does not have this issue with the low end dropping out.

With the knobs on the box its possible to get a lot of different sounds, but I have found only a few that are "good", but its an envelope filter, I know the sound I was looking for and I found it easily. There is plenty of adjustment available, but only a few that I found usuable, that could be just me though.

The thing I like is that you can set it so your first note (or notes with a long enough space between them) have that nice bwah sound that you're looking for. If you're playing a bunch of quicker notes, it doesn't have much effect - which is a good thing in my mind. Slower passages will have nice bwah on every note. I play fretless and by sliding up on slower notes you can really get some funky sounds, while retaining your bottom end and rhythm.

Good effect, worth the money if you get it for what I paid, I guess the only negative is that it only does the one thing, but you know that going in, right?

Disappointing

By SKAblin

Comments about Ashdown Envelope Filter Bass FX Pedal:

two days after purchasing it stopped working (and no it wasn't because the battery died, I tried a new 9 volt and a power adapter to no avail). Don't waste your money on this pedal.

Great options, nice sounds, serious flaw

Comments about Ashdown Envelope Filter Bass FX Pedal:

I purchased this based on its great value and rugged construction. It has some great sounds and a lot of options. However, I was disappointed to find that the envelope release was not adjustable and was too long to articulate individual notes on quick, staccato passages. I hope to eventually use it to simulate a keyboard bass on ballads where the release will not pose such an issue, but apparently it will not be very useful for uptempo or busy tunes.

Some funky tones

By SgtGorgeous

Comments about Ashdown Envelope Filter Bass FX Pedal:

This is a good, solid pedal. its built really tough, and isn't loose anywhere. Although you can make some cool tones, I wish they explained how to use them better. If you get it, you have to be very patient because its very interesting. Also, when you plug in the cable going into your bass, the light comes on, even if its running on battery and its not plugged into the amp, so unplug it before your done with it.

By The*Music*Man

Comments about Ashdown Envelope Filter Bass FX Pedal:

This thing is rugged. it looks like it could take some serious stompers and not be too effected. I got this thing for the clearance price and im amazed. at first i was disappointed that it didnt come with instructions but then i flipped over the information pamphlet and there they were.....so that was my mistake.overall it makes a HUGE range of sounds and if you learn to use it you will be happy.

Good Effect

By Jamie Mcdonald

Comments about Ashdown Envelope Filter Bass FX Pedal:

For the guy who said that his died, It didn't die. The battery died, you have to either run off a battery or get an A.C adapter. I hit the same problem but then got my adapter, and it works fine now. It runs great, and is a good purchase. (can't wait to plug it in with my new Jaguar.

FUnky

Comments about Ashdown Envelope Filter Bass FX Pedal:

this is my first filter and after listenning to crazy les claypool stuff, i gues that's what i was expecting. At first i thought something was loose inside but it was just the battery. Its built like a tank too some im expecting a long run from it. It sounds great once u tmess around with it for a while, just be pacient. It takes away some tone, but not enough to make a huge difference and there's no distortion like the bassballs but w/e i hear the ashdown distortion is prety good. overall sounds great after some tweaking and its really funky autowah type stuff.

Solid pedal well worth having.

By oSOSo

from Jackson, MS

Comments about Ashdown Envelope Filter Bass FX Pedal:

Maybe not as much functionality as the Qtron/etc., but definitely stands above pedals such as Digitechs auto-wah/etc. Pulling it out of the box, I immediately noticed it's solidly built, and engineered with the active musician in mind. Upon plugging it in, playing a few runs, and tweeking the knobs randomly, I can confirm that it has alot of dialability and dynamic range. Seems that Ashdown has put alot of thought into their pedal line, and I am officially a believer and will be a repeat customer (as I have already ordered the Drive + for Bass and am eagerly awaiting). All in all, for the money, this is a must have for those searching for an envelope pedal that will give some variance to your sound.
