Well, it's been nearly a year and I thought I'd give my updated review after extensive gigging. First of all the Ashdown covers are not available in the US, but you can get a padded cover from Larry LeCover, which btw fits like a glove, for a reasonable price. Now lets get down to the biz. I love this amp. The large knobs make eq tweaks quick and easy. You don't realize just how much that matters until you are trying to make an adjustment on the fly. The built in compressor is still the best on any amp I've heard. It's very straight forward and musical. In stead of adding the ext cabinet I run a di out to the house and let the 18" powered Mackies do their job. The only thing I would change about this amp is I would make it a kick back. I can be kind of hard to hear when playing because all the sound is blowing by your knees. I actually got a tilt back amp stand and that did the trick. Taking that into consideration it is hands down the best 210 combo in it's price range. This is one piece of gear that I will keep for a very long time.

I owned this amp for a year before moving on to greener pastures. Mine arrived with a defective speaker. Ashdown replaced it free of charge, although it took about 3 months to complete the repairs at a local Ashdown approved shop. The cab is made of heavy, cheap MDF. The fan runs non stop, this might not matter to you. You won't notice the fan while playing at a gig or practicing with others, but at home imo it's too noisy. It's 2010, the fan should be on a temp switch. The EQ makes noise (hisses) when engaged. The tweeter is "hot" and there is no on/off switch. Octivator is gimmicky. On the plus side, it has decent punch. Sounds good when turned up a bit. The VU meter is a nice touch. It takes the signal from your bass and shakes the house. ;)I sold this combo and picked up a much lighter, more powerful and better sounding combo for less money. The new amp is silent, does not get hot, has great tone at any volume and has more useful features such as aux input, headphone output, silent EQ etc.If you really need that "Ashdown" tone, and don't mind the fan, cheap quality/heavy MDF cabinet, hissing EQ, always one-bright tweeter, then this is the amp for you. ;)I read a ton of reviews before I bought this amp, almost all were very positive. This amp was a big let down and a lesson on why it's important to check stuff out up close and in person.Features I think Ashdown should include in this combo; It should be made of light weight plywood, include a variable speed fan or thermal switch, tweeter control or on/off switch, filter the hiss when the EQ is turned on, AUX in would be nice.

    Older version, Bought it used

    By Lowendjunky

Comments about Ashdown MAG C210T-300 EVO II Bass Combo Amp:

I bought an older version of this amp used at my local guitar center. It has a tolex covering with metal corners and there is no compressor on it. It sounded great in the store but I thought it wasn't a full 300watts. The guy at the counter told me that the amp only gives its own speakers 150watts of power and the other 150 goes to the extension jack. When we plugged it into a second 2x10 cab the thing came alive! Wow what power this thing has! I bought it right then and there. Features:The sub harmonic generator is very cool but I do have trouble finding uses for it. The EQ lift button is supper nice for recording. If you have good plugins you dont need the amps EQ and you can just take the line out and add your effects in post. Big Knobs = Easy on the fly changes!!VU meter is a great touch! keeps me from peaking and looks super cool on stage. Drawbacks:It would be nice to have it as a kickback styleYou need a extra cab to add to this guy just to keep up. My guitarists both have 100 watt FrontMan and I was barely heard without the cab. Once I got the other cab in there it was all nice and easy. Never had a problem with the fan noise but I have only owned it a month so I cant complain. It is Heavy! 77 lbs. is just too much for this thing. Plus I have to lug around the extra cab. Overall this amp sound killer. If you plan on gigging you need another cab to go with it. I suggest MarkBass for lightweight portability and great tone. If you want a good John Entwistle esk tone then buy this amp!

    BEAUTIFUL TONE

    By Anonymous

Comments about Ashdown MAG C210T-300 EVO II Bass Combo Amp:

I've had this amp for about 5 months and i haven't had any problems. It makes my bass sound really good and very warm. Handles low and high ends equally well. I like to gig with my friends and this amp didn't have much of a problem being heard over the drummer, but i'd like to put a 4x10 cab under it for performances. Gave it a 5 in features because it has nice EQ and compressor adjustments. Also has convenient handlebars on the sides which makes transporting A LOT easier. However this thing is pretty heavy so don't be a he-man and try to lift it on your own. I gave it a 4.5 in quality because it was made in somewhere in Asia and not in England(where ashdown is from). It recieved a 5 in value because its amazing in a perfect price range.

    Review

    By thatguy-Q2iEf

Comments about Ashdown MAG C210T-300 EVO II Bass Combo Amp:

So, I've had two of these. The first I had was wired wrong or something, but the second day I had it I brought it to band practice and, although I was just playing around with it at about half volume, I heard a pop and after that all that would come out of it was smoke and a horrible squeal. Obviously, I sent it back to Musician's Friend and got a brand new one. The new one I've had about 4 months and have not had an ounce of issue with it except when my band was recording a demo I could actually hear the fan just a little bit. Although I do like the fan, I am a tad picky about my recordings, so that bugged me to death. Also, it's perhaps the most wimpy 300watt amp in the world :P it had trouble keeping up with my guitarist's 150watt 2x12. I am probably going to hook up a 1x15 cab and see how that works though. Otherwise, my bass sounds great out of it.

Broke Down Twice in three years

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Ashdown MAG C210T-300 EVO II Bass Combo Amp:

I've owned one of these amps for three years now. During that time I have used if for a little over 100 gigs. After about a year and a half of owning it I decided to get a 210t ashdown cab too go along with it. The first gig I used this new set up, the power amp failed on me and I had to get it sent in to be fixed. After getting it fixed I used it for about a little over a year and the power amp failed again on me. I talked to the guy at the repair shop and he said that he thinks this amp doesnt have enough wattage to power an external cab being any of the ashdown 115, 210 or 410 cabs. Works Great as a stand alone. Just be carefull not to push it to hard with an ext cab. The input and ouput knobs on this thing are a little confusing at first too. All over this a decent amp for the money, the carpert covering gets dirty fast and the plastic corner edge's break too easy. As far as tone goes thing thing can deliver one of the best sounding amps i've heard. I just wish it was more durable.

    This Thing Thumps

Comments about Ashdown MAG C210T-300 EVO II Bass Combo Amp:

This amp has amazing tone & tons of power. I have owned tons of amps & since purchasing this I have really thinned out my collection. I use the Mag by itself for smaller gigs & throw the 15 cab under it for large venues. This thing is a TONE MONSTER. I LOVE IT. I unloaded my Ampeg & My GK is now my practice amp. If you have not tried Ashdown you don't know what you are missing. I AM HOOKED

    Just got it today.

Comments about Ashdown MAG C210T-300 EVO II Bass Combo Amp:

If you were to rate all the 210 combos on the market today the Ashdown C210t would most likely win just on it's looks. But after plugging in you realize it goes much deeper than just a pretty face. I had never played or even seen one in person when I made this purchase. After roughing in a mix on the eq I started dabbling with the built in compressor. OMG!!! The punch was unreal! Then I added the sub-harmonics and that gave it extra boom on the low end. I feel like I have just scratched the surface on what this baby can do. I can't wait to get it into a gig and really put it through the paces. I have already informed my wife I will be buying the 115 ext.cab. I bet that will put some hair on your chest. I'll post another review after some gigging. Peace out yo!

    I want another one

    By RagTop Bass Player

Comments about Ashdown MAG C210T-300 EVO II Bass Combo Amp:

I regretfully sold this amp and the 1-15 cab it sat on. I started with an Ampeg SVT410-HLF with and SVT 350 head on it. The Ampeg was great with lots of punch. I wanted to go bigger and went to the Ampeg SVT810 cab but got tired of hauling it very quickly. After playing through a friends Ashdown I was sold immediately. Honestly, it didn't have the punch of my 4-10 Ampeg but the tone was supperior. I nice fat and round tone. Adam Clayton of U2, Roger Waters, and Paul McCartney's bass player are using these now. The only problem I have with it is the carpeting. I'd rather have tolex. Definately worth every penny.

    Great intermediate amp

    By pendergasta

    from Winston Salem, NC

Comments about Ashdown MAG C210T-300 EVO II Bass Combo Amp:

I recently upgraded to this amp from a Crate 50-watt. I play in a classic rock/oldies band, and the MAG C210T has performed perfectly. It doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles, but I don't think it needs them. It's been a great sounding amp in any situation. I can cut through two guitars, drums, and keyboard without having to crank up too much volume. When you need big volume, it's there, and the amp has not cut out or gotten muddy a single time. I'm looking forward to adding a 15 or 18 cabinet when we start playing some larger venues.
