Now, before you scratch your head and say, "B-52??? Never heard of that brand before", this 4x12 cabinet really delivers the goods at a very affordable price. Face it: most top tier cabinets not only sell quality stuff, but what we're really paying for is brand name (Mesa, Marshall, Soldano, etc). Usually unheard of brands like B-52 would make us cautious but in this case, my fears were unfounded. I play mostly metal, thrash metal to be precise. I don't downtune like a nu metal band, I like my guitar crunch precise and well defined, a la Slayer/Metallica/Anthrax, and for this type of music, the B-52 delivers an amazing sound without losing tone at high volumes like some other reviewers here have mention (maybe their faulty amps are the culprits). I play a Mesa Dual Rectifier, 100 watts, so my sound is loud and proud. When I plug my Gibson Explorer (with stock pick ups, the mighty 500t) into the Mesa, the B-52 simply roars to the point my drummer says to "back down" a bit! I basically just plug in and play, with very few FX (a Noise Gate here, an EQ there, a Flanger too).
The response of the cab is phenomenal. I had a Marshall cab, the classic 1960, with the iconic JCM800 and it never sounded as loud nor as brutal as the B-52. Other reviewers should mention what amps they use since this aspect finally affects how the cabinet will respond.

I'm unaware from what kind of wood it''s made nor what brand of speakers it holds. All I know is that it sounds really good and hasn't given, me any problems since I first acquired it, almost 6 years ago.

I actually own this cab and it's definitely not my first choice for cabs, the sound is great and punchy though the durability and the customer service for B52 isn't so great at all, I would definitely suggest getting some sort of road case, the craftsmanship in whatever they used to put this thing together definitely isn't so great, mine seems to be falling apart after about a year or so.Consider getting something better if you can.but if you can't afford it then I don't think you'll be upset with the sound.

It ROARS!!!

By 1400 buckethead

from Modesto, CA

I bought this cab two weeks ago, days before our next show. This thing does a great deal of justice for the Randall RH300. The tone produced is crystal clear, and it delivers the perfect Thrash metal crunch. And for the price, it's a steal. For anyone looking for a stack, B-52 is definitely worth investing in.

Great Cab!

Ive had this cab for about three years and I love it. It has an incredible sound for metal. Tons of low end and very punchy and will scream at high volumes. The only thing is the skin is really thin and mine has a few scuffs but thats common with most cabs. Its built like a tank other than that, also, for the price you cant beat it. Id put this cab up against about any cab Ive heard. IMO this is one of the best cabs out there. I think its time for people to quit comparing everything to marshall's. I like marshall's but there's stuff out there that will give'em a run for the money and this is one.

B-52? Never Heard of It... HEAR IT!

By Mark the Hendrix fan

I recently bought this cab for my Bugera 1990 because the Peavy cab I was originaly going to get was discontinued and this one matched the amp. This cab sounds amazing and the power handleing is huge for the price. This cab has great sound at all frequences. The low end is amazing, when I use my Way Huge Swollen Pickle Fuzz box I really hear it because that box puts out a ton. Other than the sound this cab is verry sturdy, its handles are very durible and all around it seems unbreakable.

Good 4 Most Styles

Very versital I just wish the mono selection was 8ohm & 16ohm and NOT 4ohm & 16ohm. Dont know why it's like that cause that actually kills some of the versitility. It loses a lot of bottom end when cranked but I think the tone is still fine. I have a very low bass sounding head the Carvin V3 and this B-52 cab was added to make a full stack. My other cab I loaded with some Eminence Legend series made for low end thats how I noticed this in the B-52 cab. In reality though I'm not doing a whole lot of down tuning so I don't need low end all the time and this B-52 cab complements my mids XTREMLY well, even better than the Eminece speakers do for that.Overall GREAT cab for the money. Versital, great sound, high distortion capable and high watt handling. If your BENT on just low end then go spend even more money or redo your current cab. This thing is great for the money and NO cab covers everything.

Good Cab

The B-52 AT-412 cab powered by a B-52 ST-100 head is a wonder full mix. Weather I am playing drop b crazyness or nice cleans it gives sweet tone. It does seem to like the treble end a little bit more then the bass, the bass still shines through very well. I used to be a hardcore Randall Amplification fan, but B-52 gets my vote for now. Most def impressed by thier products both the head and cab

Nathan

By Nathan-D8cKy

from Agency, MO

I just purchased this amp and I am still waiting for my head to come in. While at practice I asked the other guitar player if he'd play his marshall head through my cab instead of his custom cab to break it in a bit. WOW. This thing is very loud. I had to set The cab against a corner wall because the speaker put out so much bass the marshall head almost fell off because of the vibration. I suggest if you guys this cab to get the straight because it comes with spots for the legs. The slant cab does not. I'll figure out something to keep it on without looking to tacky. Either way this thing sounds really great. I was sceptical because of I hadn't really heard of B-52 but within 2 minutes I was completely satisfied.

DONT BUY THIS CAB

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Sure it may seem like a great cab for such high wattage, but the thing loses ALL tone when it is cranked. Also at any high volume it loses all of its low end. If you play in any sort of drop tuning avoid it like the plague. I set it up next to my 5150 cab and it sounds like a toy. Its made poorly, speakers arent good, tears, casters are crappy. unless you have an insanely low/midsy sounding head (6505 or comparable) and alot of eq knowledge, you will be disappointed.

BUCKLE UP

Ask me a question

I purchased the B-52, AT-100 amp cabinet, one year ago this month (Feb 2007). Having bought the AT-100 head, I bought the slant and straight cabinets to go with the head. After a year of using a full stack these cabinets and speakers are still kicking a**. Every now and then when a friend comes over I will let them feel and hear what these cabinets sound like with the head turned all the up. This is no lie. When I just hit one power chord, a look of fear is in their face. Not only did they hear it, they also felt their whole body taking a blow. There is no way you could play with these speakers and a hundred watt tube head, without wearing ear plugs. Long story short. Great product in all areas.

Loud as hell

By imxron

I really needed louder and more reliable gearso I can play shows with no problem. I had a crate half stack, which was good but I could not hear myself over the drums. so after reading some reviews i went out and picked up this cab. And wow it is loud, and I run alot of distortion and it sounds sick. Although Im still using the crate head im not getting the best out of the cab. Im going to pick up th AT-100 head for the cab so hopefully it will blow up the venues We play at. Overall if u want something loud, cheap and smooth this cab works great for the money

Best kept secret in amp cabs

By 60's rocker

from NC

This B52 4x12 480 cab has got to be the best value in music today. The cab is made of real wood, the casters are quality, it has a 4/16 ohm mono switch along with an 8 ohm stereo switch. The sound is great. I even hooked up my 65 Fender Twin to this cab and it really brings it alive too! In todays over priced "buying the name" BS. Its really great to find a an honest to goodness music company like B52. A real quality piece of equipment.

It just keeps on ticking

By RobLTS

This cab is amazing! It can take about anything you can throw at it and ask for more. My only con is the tolex covering is about as durable as a leather couch. It will not stand up to road abuse. Only been playing shows with mine about a year and it looks like its been through a war zone. But oh well, it just gives it character. The matching AT100 head on the other hand is junk. Its too heavy and has a Huge amount of hiss. I took the head back but kept the cab. I use it with a Marshall AVT150H head and the sound is nothing short of amazing!

Yeah Baby!!

By Virgilina Kid

Sweet cab loaded with speakers that can handle any tone you throw at them. I'm pushing this cab with a Peavey TransTube 2-12 combo 8 ohm external output & it's hard to wanna stop playing thru. Even on a 3 setting the volume is impressive. The low price doesn't impart the value of this cabinet. Kinda thin skinned that tears easily, but so what, I've got nicks & scars on me too! Made in the U.S. of A.! What are you kidz waitin' for?! Ya'll keep on Pickin'!

B-52 Slays me!

By xNEVERDIEx

Alright, this thing is flat out amazing. I play an ESP Viper-400 with EMG 81/85s in drop C, sometimes B, through a 300W randall and this cab has no trouble whatsoever. This thing has low end like you can't believe! It never gets flubby on me, even when I'm playing in B! I was a bit skeptical at first, but I figured I might as well give it a chance. Good choice! The only cab that I can compare this cab's sound to would be a Mesa or a VHT, except that this costs less than half of those other guys! Also, this baby is solid as a rock, made of high quality stuff, you know. Throw it in a trailer and go melt some faces 1000 miles away, it'll hold up! So if you're a struggling musician who still wants high end gear, you don't have to sell yourself into slavery to pay for it! Just buy this cab!

i was trying out potential cabs for my stack one day. this was the second and last cab i tried in a store full of crate, marshall and line 6. since then while gigging theres always at least one or two backstage. this cab has a lot of low end which is perfect for heavy, distorted tone. buy it!!!

Wow

I bought this to go along with my B-52 AT-100 head and im still in shock and awe. I was going to buy a Carvin cab, but after playing this i realized it sounded better and cost less. It handles screamings highs and thundering lows like nothing. I had my windows shaking and my neighbors calling the cops through this cab, and it still sounded like heaven, so you can't get it loud enough to sound bad if it at some point doesn;t sound incredible. I would recommend this to any person that asked about it.
