Now, before you scratch your head and say, "B-52??? Never heard of that brand before", this 4x12 cabinet really delivers the goods at a very affordable price. Face it: most top tier cabinets not only sell quality stuff, but what we're really paying for is brand name (Mesa, Marshall, Soldano, etc). Usually unheard of brands like B-52 would make us cautious but in this case, my fears were unfounded. I play mostly metal, thrash metal to be precise. I don't downtune like a nu metal band, I like my guitar crunch precise and well defined, a la Slayer/Metallica/Anthrax, and for this type of music, the B-52 delivers an amazing sound without losing tone at high volumes like some other reviewers here have mention (maybe their faulty amps are the culprits). I play a Mesa Dual Rectifier, 100 watts, so my sound is loud and proud. When I plug my Gibson Explorer (with stock pick ups, the mighty 500t) into the Mesa, the B-52 simply roars to the point my drummer says to "back down" a bit! I basically just plug in and play, with very few FX (a Noise Gate here, an EQ there, a Flanger too).
The response of the cab is phenomenal. I had a Marshall cab, the classic 1960, with the iconic JCM800 and it never sounded as loud nor as brutal as the B-52. Other reviewers should mention what amps they use since this aspect finally affects how the cabinet will respond.

I'm unaware from what kind of wood it''s made nor what brand of speakers it holds. All I know is that it sounds really good and hasn't given, me any problems since I first acquired it, almost 6 years ago.

I actually own this cab and it's definitely not my first choice for cabs, the sound is great and punchy though the durability and the customer service for B52 isn't so great at all, I would definitely suggest getting some sort of road case, the craftsmanship in whatever they used to put this thing together definitely isn't so great, mine seems to be falling apart after about a year or so.Consider getting something better if you can.but if you can't afford it then I don't think you'll be upset with the sound.

It ROARS!!!

By 1400 buckethead

from Modesto, CA

I bought this cab two weeks ago, days before our next show. This thing does a great deal of justice for the Randall RH300. The tone produced is crystal clear, and it delivers the perfect Thrash metal crunch. And for the price, it's a steal. For anyone looking for a stack, B-52 is definitely worth investing in.

Great Cab!

Ive had this cab for about three years and I love it. It has an incredible sound for metal. Tons of low end and very punchy and will scream at high volumes. The only thing is the skin is really thin and mine has a few scuffs but thats common with most cabs. Its built like a tank other than that, also, for the price you cant beat it. Id put this cab up against about any cab Ive heard. IMO this is one of the best cabs out there. I think its time for people to quit comparing everything to marshall's. I like marshall's but there's stuff out there that will give'em a run for the money and this is one.

B-52? Never Heard of It... HEAR IT!

By Mark the Hendrix fan

I recently bought this cab for my Bugera 1990 because the Peavy cab I was originaly going to get was discontinued and this one matched the amp. This cab sounds amazing and the power handleing is huge for the price. This cab has great sound at all frequences. The low end is amazing, when I use my Way Huge Swollen Pickle Fuzz box I really hear it because that box puts out a ton. Other than the sound this cab is verry sturdy, its handles are very durible and all around it seems unbreakable.

I bought this cab 8 months ago, and have played numerous gigs with it, and it is amazing. I love it. The sound is crisp and the dirt it nice and thick. The low-end is also very nice. This is defiantly a great deal for the price!!

Good 4 Most Styles

Very versital I just wish the mono selection was 8ohm & 16ohm and NOT 4ohm & 16ohm. Dont know why it's like that cause that actually kills some of the versitility. It loses a lot of bottom end when cranked but I think the tone is still fine. I have a very low bass sounding head the Carvin V3 and this B-52 cab was added to make a full stack. My other cab I loaded with some Eminence Legend series made for low end thats how I noticed this in the B-52 cab. In reality though I'm not doing a whole lot of down tuning so I don't need low end all the time and this B-52 cab complements my mids XTREMLY well, even better than the Eminece speakers do for that.Overall GREAT cab for the money. Versital, great sound, high distortion capable and high watt handling. If your BENT on just low end then go spend even more money or redo your current cab. This thing is great for the money and NO cab covers everything.

Good Cab

The B-52 AT-412 cab powered by a B-52 ST-100 head is a wonder full mix. Weather I am playing drop b crazyness or nice cleans it gives sweet tone. It does seem to like the treble end a little bit more then the bass, the bass still shines through very well. I used to be a hardcore Randall Amplification fan, but B-52 gets my vote for now. Most def impressed by thier products both the head and cab

Nathan

By Nathan-D8cKy

from Agency, MO

I just purchased this amp and I am still waiting for my head to come in. While at practice I asked the other guitar player if he'd play his marshall head through my cab instead of his custom cab to break it in a bit. WOW. This thing is very loud. I had to set The cab against a corner wall because the speaker put out so much bass the marshall head almost fell off because of the vibration. I suggest if you guys this cab to get the straight because it comes with spots for the legs. The slant cab does not. I'll figure out something to keep it on without looking to tacky. Either way this thing sounds really great. I was sceptical because of I hadn't really heard of B-52 but within 2 minutes I was completely satisfied.

DONT BUY THIS CAB

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Sure it may seem like a great cab for such high wattage, but the thing loses ALL tone when it is cranked. Also at any high volume it loses all of its low end. If you play in any sort of drop tuning avoid it like the plague. I set it up next to my 5150 cab and it sounds like a toy. Its made poorly, speakers arent good, tears, casters are crappy. unless you have an insanely low/midsy sounding head (6505 or comparable) and alot of eq knowledge, you will be disappointed.
