I am not sure where the negetive comments are stemming from in the other reviews here on this pedal. Mine has no issues with the pot nor any issues quality or design at all. Out of the (5) wahs I own this one looks the best and sounds fine to me. It is best for classic vintage rock I agree and has a unique almost YOW-YOW quality to the sound; Works well with OD/Distortion....I place my wahs after most of the time( preference)
The BBE wah is more affordable at about half the price of other pedals I own.
It is quiet and adds no unwanted noise engaged or in bypass. The on/off switch is twice as easy to engage and bypass as other pedals and I like the placement of the blue LED on top of the pedal.
I prefer wahs with larger pedal sweeps like this one has as opposed to short sweeps.
I purchased this based allot off the review from Guitar Player magazine where it won out over several other wahs.
If there was a problem in the past with quality pots they seemed to have worked it out.

The pedal is built from good materials except for the major short fall of not being able to mount this to your pedal board. Why didn't BBE provide new screws for the bottom of the pedal so you could velcros your pedal to your board?
The modualtion dial is a nice feature.
With everything said, do not buy this pedal. It is a matter of fact you can't attached it to your pedal board due to thickness of the rubber feet and even if you remove the rubber feet the screws still are 1/4 " from being flush at the bottom of the pedal. This pedal can't be attached to your pedal board with velcro or straps. It would seem with all the engineers that BBE hires, why did they not realize this when making this pedal (I guess they don't play guitar).
There are better pedals for the price out there.

Others have mentioned this - my wah came broken (scratchy pot). BBE fixed it quickly, and now it's my favorite wah. Great vintage-style, vocal tone. No bad spots on the rocker. The only downside is that it's too vintage-flavored to use with very high gain.

I had this Wah pedal for about a month and there are numerous issues as posted below already. I had purchased a bunch of BBE pedals and I am starting to question there quality of both sound and construction. Do yourself a favor, save up a little money and purchase a true bypass Budda Wah or the new MXR Custom Audio Wah with True Bypass and led lights on the side that you can actually see. Good Luck.

Common complaint I also experienced: Switch and pots became horridly noisy within the 1st couple days. I think I have the "new" pot. so I am wooried. I had to pay to ship it to CA. for warranty repair the 1st week I had it, and it has not yet returned. If it comes back in good shape and lasts it will be great, if it continues to need new components in short order it is useless and a complete loss! From the other reviews I have some hope...but not alot. Wish I had bought something else, but oh well! Too late to return now.

I've had the pleasure of dealing with base model Crybabies, a 95Q, and several processor-based wahs...never liked them. I've also gotten to play with vintage Morley and Crybaby pedals, and really fell in love with the Morley fuzz/wah. This pedal is sort of in between a Morley and Crybaby sound, and is one of the most usable sounding wahs. It's very clean, and the sweep range is easy to learn, with a very wide mid-range spot that I really like to play with.I haven't noticed any tone sucking with the pedal turned off. Opening it up shows a 3PDT switch, with one section powering the blue on/off LED. Otherwise it looks like true bypass. On/off switch positioning is perfect and responsive. The pedal felt a smidge tight and mechanical when I first got it; using it breaks it in. The only change I would do is add a little more lube to the gear/retainer mechanism. Wiring inside is excellent, and overall pedal feel is nice. The BEN symbol is aluminum, and part of the pedal (the tread is cut around it). The Q dial on the side is subtle, and it takes some playing with it to find out exactly what it does, but it does definitely do something.Overall this is a very impressive pedal. Granted, it's just a wah, but for tone, this thing gets the sound I've wanted for a long time, without defiling the wallet.

TONE:This is a very trebley wah. Whether it's that way due to the placement of the teeth on the pot, or center frequency, I don't yet know as I've not begun to mod it out. Stay tuned... think Jimi Hendrix solo style wah.VOL INCREASE:I find a very small volume increase with it engaged, but nothing that's problematic because I tend to wah during solos and can adjust my volume via pick attack when using this for rhythm wahing.ROCKER ACTION:My rocker is a bit stiff ("That's what she said"), but that's likely adjustable via the physical mechanics of the pedal. Q CONTROL:The Harmony control is a Q control and it's incredibly effective on my unit. You can go from an almost volume swell kind of behavior to a fast bump. Personally, I find it VERY useful.TRUE BYPASS:The true-bypass is great as well. No tone sucking on my effect chain. However, note that my first pedal in the chain is a buffered bypass, so it keeps all my high frequencies intact. WARNING: the next couple of paragraphs are just me blathering on about true vs. buffered bypass. Read it if you aren't in the know about such stuff. Feel free to email me if you want to dig deeper.If you have 4 or 5 true bypass pedals preceding this wah, and they're all off, when you kick the wah on you'll think the bypass mode is sucking tone. It's not. It's just all the other pedals in the chain effectively making your signal degrade because they're effectively adding more distance between the gtr and the wah - like the diff between a 3' gtr cord and a 10'. True bypass is great when done right and when used right. If your first pedal has a good buffered bypass, it'll maintain the gtr tone and provide all the other pedals after it a strong signal with your orig tone. If you have it in the middle of the chain it will do the same thing, except the signal it's pushing out will only be as good as the signal it's taking in, which'll be degraded if only true bypass pedals precede it.But I totally digress... sorry.GENERAL CONSTRUCTION:All looks good. Traditional crybaby style pedal. Should last a lifetime unless you toss it under a steam roller. I haven't had mine long though so I can't truly say.ROCKER SWEEP:I'm not sure if it's the pot, or some other electronic component, but I really like the sweep on this pedal. It seems to lack the "dead zone" on the heel down position like other pedals.LED LIGHT:Bright blue like so many new pedals. One con here. The light is on the far side of the pedal, so it can't be seen until you're pretty much right over the top of the pedal. In the search for a good, classic wah pedal, I've accumulated a box full of them that I don't use, and this one. Like all the BBE pedals I have, this one has a great tone when engaged and a true bypass for when you're not using it. What really sets the BBE apart from others I've used (Crybaby original and classic, Snarling Dogs, Morley) is the musical voice the pedal has. It's got that great sixties vibe like the Crybaby Classic, but without being too "choppy". At the same time, the sweep isn't so wide that you overwork your foot like a Snarling Dogs wah. The knob on the side doesn't have a drastic impact on the pedal's voicing, but it will definitely help you tailor it to suit your style. Other points worth mentioning are unity gain, with no noticeable increase or decrease in volume when engaged, and that my fuzz pedals don't seem to oscillate as badly when placed after the BBE as opposed to other wah pedals. I've never played an original Vox with an old Halo inductor, but I really prefer the tone of this wah to the Dunlops with Fasel inductors, which are quite good, but suck the life from your tone when bypassed. I really don't think you'll get a better wah without spending twice as much on a boutique pedal, and I'm not even sure of that, because my other BBE pedals hold their own very well against my boutique pedals.

This is a solid wah. My first one to actually, well i picked it up at a local music store and it sounds great, my buddy bought an original crybaby and that made me want a wah soo bad. so i picked up this unit. wow i love it, it has alot bigger of a sweep, i notice a little bit of sound loss in the lower eq but thats commen in all wahs so dont even worry about it, i love the harmony knob, i crank it down for clean wah so its not so edgy but when i put on the drive i crank it up and get such an awesome tone soloing with it all i can say is thanks to the BBE people making this wah they did a great job

First off the pedal looks great, has a vintage sound and I love that it has a LED indicator on top, although a little hard to see with my big foot on the pedal. The other feature is the true bypass. And although it does have true bypass I notice a similiar tone loss as other wahs like non true bypass wahs like the Vox 847A and Crybaby's. In my opinion I seem to hear loss in true bypass pedals that are used to modulate the volume or sound, like the BBE Soul Vibe. The other issue is that the AC input is deeper than most pedals, which can be hard if your daisy chaining. The pedal movement is also a little stiff for my taste as it feels like its grinding a bit compared to other wahs. I wish it also had a volume knob, as I hear a little volume loss in the lower Q settings. Overall it sounds great and seems very well built and has some great reviews in Guitar Mags. But I think that there is still room for improvement here. Still a great value over the spiky Vox's and Crybaby's of the world, maybe not as sweet sounding as the fasel inductor Crybaby's though.
