OVERVIEW

A pedal designed to bring out the best in your bass sound at an unbeatable price.

Does your bass sound dull and lifeless? Sound engineers and professional bass players have known for years that high-quality limiting and enhancement makes bass tracks pop in the mix. The Bass Limiter Enhancer BLE100 gives your playing that same velvety finishing touch by smoothing out inconsistent volume peaks. This is especially noticeable if your performance involves slapping and popping styles. The BLE100 will make your tone as solid as your performance.

Why You Need a Limiter
Even if you employ the best technique, there will be volume inconsistencies in your sound. This becomes really obvious when you switch from fingerstyle playing to slapping and popping. The BLE100 can help smooth out these inconsistencies and improve your sound. How? A limiter works by reducing the dynamic range of a signal, often referred to as compression. This means that loud signals are turned down and softer sounds are turned up, so they more closely match each other. The resulting sound is more powerful, focused and rich in tone.

Surgical Enhancement
By its very nature, extreme compression tends to suck the high-end out of any signal, so we added a tone compensation circuit to the BLE100. This dedicated Enhance control lets you dial in just the right amount of sparkle, without giving your bass that over-processed or brittle sound. This feature alone will make the BLE100 one of your favorite secret weapons.

Simple, Intuitive Operation
The dedicated LEVEL, ENHANCE, RATIO and THRESHOLD controls provide easy and intuitive sound shaping. Just set the Ratio control for the amount of compression you want and adjust the Thresh(old) control to where you want the compressor to kick in. Then, turn the Level knob to match the volume of your bass when the effect is switched off. It' just that easy.

A first-class electronic On/Off switch is provided for absolutely noise-free operation. The BLE100' top-mounted LED lets you know when it' on and also serves as a battery tester. And if you don™t enjoy replacing 9 V batteries, we suggest using our PSU-SB DC power supply.

FEATURES
Smoothen out harsh volume peaks when using dynamic slaps or other playing styles
Rugged construction
Simple control layout including Level, Enhance, Ratio and Threshold
Top mounted LED indicates when it's in use as well as battery life
Powered by 9V battery or PSU-SB DC power supply

This pedal really isn't bad like people say it is. It does exactly what it advertises it will do - limits the peak output of your bass. It does this very well. It can virtually remove all dynamics when turned all the way up. The buffer is fine and the pedal is tonally transparent.

No coloration of tone when on vs. off vs. plugged straight into amp.

Yes, it's made of plastic. Yes, the enhance knob hardly does anything and is basically useless. No, it does not buzz, add noise, or suck tone. All things considered, this really is fine if all you need is a limiter for your bass. As long as you aren't trying to curbstomp the thing, it will hold up fine and do its job.

People bashing this dubious pedal are not exactly wrong, but should realize that the presence control boosts frequencies well above the ~4kHz limit of the typical bass driver. If you don't have a tweeter-equipped cab or aren't listening through headphones, you simply won't hear any change.

Behringer stomps are hugely inconsistent in terms of quality and (especially!) noise floor. The example I got was relatively quiet, but had a somewhat defective threshold pot. That's about as good as it ever gets with Behringer gear.

The limiter seems to me to be designed to only control the extreme peaks in slap & pop and is not sensitive enough to be noticable in conventional use.

If you are a traditional player using flats and a tweeterless amp, this stomp will indeed appear to be doing absolutely nothing.

Even at its very low cost, this is still overpriced. I didn't expect much, but this pedal does zilch. Let me correct myself,....if you like a hum and buzz going thru your amp, than this is the pedal for you.

Comments about Behringer BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancer Effects Pedal:

It's all plastic, the body, knobs, even the screws are plastic. Feels super cheap. No way this holds up to being pressed with your foot. I'm embarrassed to put this thing on my pedal board. My first experience with Behringer pedals. It will be my last. Already in the box on its way back.

Comments about Behringer BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancer Effects Pedal:

This isn't the very best of these on the market. But to get anything better you would have to spend much more & still get a box only slightly better. Behringer has done a phenominal job with this. The only place the skimped was in making it plastic instead of metal. That said I have three other plastic Behringer pedals that I have used extensivly and roughly & none of them have ever broken despite being kicked, stomped, dropped & spilled on. I have no reason to believe this will be any different. The effect itself works very well & does exactly what a bass limiter exciter is supposed to do. Some have complained of noise. I've used mine both live & in the studio( where it's more critical) & have yet to notice anything unusual. All in all I don't believe you would be able to find anything remotely as good for 3 times the price so I strongly recommend this to any bass player.

Comments about Behringer BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancer Effects Pedal:

This is a great box. It isn't a chorus or any other type of effect. It's a compressor which is something every bass player needs to sound professional. I don't quite understand the negative reviews. It seems like some people have it out for Behringer as the negative reviews for this are almost cut & paste for every Behringer product. There is nothing anyplace even vaguely near the price of this that works better & even though it is made of plastic mine has held up to rough use live for many performances. I'm buying a second one not because the other broke but only because I want a spare in case I lose mine. Ignore the haters, this is a great pedal.

Comments about Behringer BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancer Effects Pedal:

The old saying, "You get what you pay for." , comes into play here. If you are expecting big sound and durability, move along. What you have here is a bass enhancer, that comes with hiss when you activate it. If you play in a noisy band, you won't notice the hiss unless you got your ear right next to your amp. I bought it to give me a "boost" for when the other guys want me to solo, and it does just that, if you set it up right. And if your band is loud enough, you won't notice the hiss when it's on.

Comments about Behringer BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancer Effects Pedal:

The BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancers limiting effect is very subtle, but it's there, the thing does work. Adding in the Enhance control produces a more noticeable result- the downside is the noise Enhance creates- it's a frying pan sizzle that is too loud for live playing or recording.I don't have a problem with the plastic case like some of the other reviewers, however I do have some reservations about the integrity of the hinge on the ON/OFF switch. I have had this effect for about two months now, rarely use it- it has become a paperweight on my desk. I'm going to stick with my comp- there are of course lots of other options but I'd avoid the BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancer unless cash is an issue

Comments about Behringer BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancer Effects Pedal:

I bought this item as a "Stupid Deal of the Day". And for that price, it was a no-brainer.

Took it to band practice, installed a brand new battery, plugged my J-Bass with 15-foot Monster Cable into the input, plugged the output into my tc electronic BG210 practice amp, and tuned-up. Played without the effect for a few, then made the mistake of turning the pedal on.

All I can say is: Boy ... is it NOISY! Even after adjusting the knobs!

I own a fair number number of Behringer stuff, and they have all worked well and have provided many years on-the-road use. They missed the mark on this one. This is the best doorstop I own.

Comments about Behringer BLE100 Bass Limiter Enhancer Effects Pedal:

This thing works great with my Piccolo Bass, Baritone and Tenor Ukuleles. and Tenor Guitar. It gently adds sustain (fattens things up a bit) and the enhance control sweeps right across where the ukelele harmonics live. Very easy to setup and control.

Enhance is subtle on standard tuned bass, as it depends mostly on the bass amp's ability to produce high frequencies. These are way above the bass fundamentals, and will probably only produce hiss when over used.

Enhance is very effective on electric-acoustic guitar and ukulele. A little goes a long way. It is certainly not limited to bass, so try it with all your instruments.

It is absolutely silent when used with a good quality 9vDC power supply.

          Start with these Settings:
Level (Straight Up, or about 1:00)
          Enhance (Straight to the Left)
Ratio (Point at 'R' in Ratio)
Thresh (Point at 'T' in Thresh)

I would expect the new BLE-400 to be very much the same.

This pedal is getting a bad rap, it is not a effects ike chorus or flanging..it brings to the sonic pallet a sonic enhancment that passive bass guitars need in competing with a bass that may have active pickups so use it like a pre-amp marginal levels not cranked. not for grunge or metal-more for a jazz or country & gospel player look to gently tesselate a presence.
