OVERVIEW

Add studio-grade reverb to any amp.

The Behringer Digital Reverb DR600 effects pedal is a 24-bit, high-resolution collection packs six (6) of the most desired reverb types-Spring, Plate, Hall, Room, Gate, and Modulate, into the ultimate "to-go" package. Honestly, I bought the pedal a couple of years ago because it was cheap, sounded decent and figured it might come in handy sometime.

I recently bought a Fender Pro Jr. for the tone, but found myself wanting to add a little reverb for that true "Fender" sound. I remembered the little DR600 lying unused in a drawer. To my surprise, the battery was still good so I plugged it in and was immediately "blinded by the light", so to speak. The LED on this thing is very bright! Once I was able to see again I began to concentrate on dialing it in. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the results. While all the settings were pretty good I especially liked the Plate and Spring reverbs for my particular set up.

I'm sure there are better reverbs out there (in fact I have a coupe in my home recording studio rack) and you can certainly spend a lot more money for one. But if you want a decent pedal at a very reasonable price you can't go wrong with this one.

By the way, since mine was way past any warranty I took it apart (4 screws) and dabbed a little paint from a paint pen over the LED to dim it down a bit. It's much less objectional now.

If you can't afford a stand alone tube driven reverb unit or a reverb pedal costing 100.00 and on up then this is a fairly good selection. With some palm muting on the spring setting one can attain a fair to medlin surf drip but purists will shun this pedal but even my Peavey 65 Encore tube amp with onboard spring reverb doesn't give me useable surf reverb and this pedal more than makes up for that. Just don't stomp it as it is constructed of cheesy plastic. But for the price you can't go wrong.

DBs drops significantly when plugged in, the level range is either off or too much, difficult to add the amount of reverb desired.

Comments about Behringer DR600 Digital Stereo Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have a number of Behringer pedals, and owned this Reverb pedal (lent it and lost it, bummer). Behringer pedals always sound good to my ear and are reasonably priced. I gigged with it for several years with zero issues. I bought it to use with an amp with a non-working spring reverb, which I've since fixed. (I gig with a 60 watt solid state amp because it's light and reliable). I would not hesitate to buy another one of these pedals if I needed it. Heck, if my wife wouldn't give me the stink eye I'd order one to use with a spare amp Ii own with a lousy reverb.

Any down sides? Well, the battery compartment. One star penalty. As many have commented, it is clumsy. I've even read a review where the user said there was no battery compartment. I'm guessing they failed to read the directions. At any rate, you have to poke in, and then hold in, couple of thingies that comprise part of the hinge, and remove the top part of the pedal. One could concievably loose a spring if it popped. Easy to replace from a hardware store, but no fun if that would ever happen. However, I NEVER use batteries and highly recommend a One Spot power supply. They pay for themselves in battery replacement, have no transformer hum, and they don't get hot. And they power multiple pedals. I use one for half a dozen pedals. So for me, the battery compartment issue is moot.

Plastic case? I don't care. I have a bunch of Behringer pedals that I've used for years, and keep them in a pedal board. No issues. Would they break if I threw them against a wall, literally stood on them, or El Kabonged them with a solid body guitar? Probably. So I don't do that.

This unit has a number of really good, usable and tweakable reverb options, including hall, plate and spring reverbs. Do note, it does not give quite that "doink" sound I love from a Fender twin, but that would require a thousand+ more clams and a backache from dragging it around. No thanks to that.

Bottom line for me, worth far more than I paid.

Comments about Behringer DR600 Digital Stereo Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal:

For so cheap, man this is great. I wanted a reverb for recording/jamming at home, wanted a TC Electronic Hall of Fame, which has hall, spring, plate, etc settings but is very costly. This guy has all that at a budget, just no true bypass, metal casing or toneprint. Sounds great but it's plastic so I wouldn't recommend it for gigs unless you're careful or use a nice pedal case. Great purchase and it sounds great with my other higher end pedals.
