OVERVIEW

Red hot sound in a compact pink pedal.

The Behringer Heavy Metal HM300 effects pedal produces the huge, slicing guitar tone that, until now, was only available from high-gain amps cranked to the point just before meltdown.

With its ultra-high gain circuitry, the HM300 gives you rude and rowdy distortion for the fierce rhythm chops and searing leads, plus virtually endless sustain.
Its dedicated Distortion, Low, High and Level controls allow you to sculpt your own trademark metal tone, from deep and brooding to crisp and furious. A status LED tells you when this beast is activated, and a top-quality on/off switch maintains incredible signal integrity in bypass mode.

Comments about Behringer Heavy Metal HM300 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is the reproduction of the Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal pedal that has been out of production for many many years. It's the pedal they use to achieve the Swedish death metal buzzsaw sound, like Grave, Dismember, Entombed by cranking up all the knobs to max. WARNING! Don't think you just plug in this pedal and get that sound though, it must be used in conjunction with some other source of distortion gain, such as through your head. It takes a little messing with, but you will get the exact old swedish DM sound!

Comments about Behringer Heavy Metal HM300 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a replica pedal of the long out of production Boss HM-2 pedal that many extreme metal artists use. It is quite versatile going into a clean amp/power amp but is best for the Swedish Death Metal tone which is through a dirty amp with the knobs maxed out. If your'e looking for that dirty saturated fuzz/overdrive sound like Dismember, Entombed or Nails then this is the pedal you want. Plus, its only 25 Washingtons for those on the fence about it. Buy it, try it, and you might just keep it.

Comments about Behringer Heavy Metal HM300 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I guess I'm more of a roady/studio guy than I am an artist, as I've always got more out of turning knobs then actually playing music lol. I bought this pedal for one reason and one sound only. The Swedish "chainsaw" guitar tone of the 90's that came out of Sunlight Studios that was popularized by bands like Entombed and Dismembered.

I think it sounds incredibly good considering I bought it NEW for 25 bones plus shipping! The distortion is sometimes a bit over the top, but cleans up when you roll back the volume knobs on the guitar. I imagine you could really get some interesting tones going if you paired this pedal with a compressor and eq both before and after it in the signal chain (and with Behringer that's actually an affordable option), and of course, a tube amp, as most of the bands with that sound supposedly used Peavey 5150 tube heads. Very nasty distortion pedal, if you could travel back in time to the 90's you could probably sell this to a metal head for absolutely ridiculous amounts of money.

If you are not buying this pedal for a certain "Swedish death metal" sound or just metal in general, I would not recommend this pedal, as there are probably much better pedals out there for what you need.

Its made out of plastic which I personally don't mind, as I'm not a touring or gigging musician. If I stomped on it several times a night for half a year I dunno how that would work out.

Not a big fan of the color, but then again, I didn't buy this pedal for aesthetic value.

Behringer makes great stuff for less, I plan on buying a lot more Behringer pedals in the future!

Comments about Behringer Heavy Metal HM300 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Took a shot because very cheap. Should have known better. I had heard this pedal is essentially the same thing as a boss heavy metal. I have always been curious about them but never played one so I figured I'll try this out. If it is just like an old boss heavy metal then that pedal must have been awful too. I had heard of bands like slowdive and my bloody valentine using them so I wanted to see. Never buy a behringer pedal except for the practical use/non-effect ones such as EQS and tuner. These pedals represent excellent value compared to their boss and mxr counterparts but do not bother with the real effects such as ODS distortions reverb delays etc.

Comments about Behringer Heavy Metal HM300 Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you want the Boss HM-2 sound without paying over a hundred on eBay for a pedal that is 20 years old, this is your solution. It's not as solidly built, but you can buy 2 and still be at half the price of the real thing. It doesn't sound as good as some boutique clones, but those are even more expensive... For your money, this is the best choice. If you don't want that Swedish tone, buy something else. This literally has no other application.
