I'm a keyboardist. My older 60W Roland KC amp couldn't compete against the 100+W amps in my band. Being budget-minded, I searched for a cheap, reliable replacement with the power to hold my own during a performance. The KX1200 came to my rescue! This amp is clean and packs LOTS of power. It feels well built and solid. (Yes, the knobs can be jiggled up & down a bit. Behringer's strength is making quality, affordable equipment. If you plan to knock the hell out of your rig, spend twice the dough on a tank.) The KX1200 has two hefty metal handles built flush into the left and right sides for carrying. I find it's easier to haul around than amps with a single rubber strap across the top that you have to carry like luggage. If you remove the grille, which is mounted with velcro, you'll see a basic paper woofer, midrange, and standard piezo tweeter. I played some rock mp3s through the amp at 50% gain, which more than filled the carpeted warehouse we rehearse in. If that paper woofer can take that kind of pounding, then I'm not worried about playing my boards through it. The power cord is PC-style in that it can be removed completely and could be replaced by the cord on the back of your computer or monitor. But it's short, so be sure to pack an extension cord. This amp is half the price of the Roland KC-550 that I was going to buy. With all this amp's got going for it, you won't be disappointed!

I have 2. The 1st one acted up the day after the 1 year warranty ran out. The LM3886 power amp IC's can take quite a beating but the electrolytic capacitors fail easily. You'll be facing a lot of hum or the unit may burn up. I replaced all capacitors with higher grade ones (I'm a tech). I use both in my studio but not on the road (Peavey KB4 fits the bill on stage). The units are very senstive to AC line fluctuations, loads and noises. It is very hard to filter out noise...my studio is well-filtered and still they can act up. None of my other amps have done this. I've been a musician for over 40 years and a electronics tech almost as long. It may be OK at home but I would not try it on stage again after strange whistling noises happened while performing on stage (again: caused by capacitors). I bought mine locally as sadly Musicians Friend unfortunately does not sell to Canada anymore.

        Not good for drums

        By Poco Askew

        from Undisclosed

I've had this unit for about two years w/o problems. I bought it to use with my Yamaha DTXpress electronic drum kit. I was hoping to be able to practice at home with it (no gigging). It has worked OK except for the lack of bass and and highs. I cannot get it to reproduce the bass drum and cymbals sound like they have a wet towel thrown over them. Good features but sound quality lacks even with the four tone controls and even at low volume. Others have had reliability problems. Mine has worked fine but I don't use it every day and I don't push it hard.

        Design Flaw can be overcome

        By MXWest

        from Williamstown, NJ

This thing sounds great, has great features, but suffers from a design flaw. The 3 way crossover is mounted vertically; the full weight of the inductor coil is being pulled by gravity. I've had 2 of these units so far, and both were affected. The first I returned under warranty, but the 2nd I took matters into my own hands and fixed it myself. If you aren't afraid to make the fix yourself when (not if, In My Opinion) this happens, it really is a nice, loud, good sounding portable PA solution.

        What a buy

This without a doubt the most bang for your buck you will find. We used it last night for a keyboard, a bass guitar and one mic. What a sound. I wish I had three more like it. I've paid more for a lot less

        huge bang for the buck

Excellent sound quality for an incredible price. I've used Roland, Hartke, Peavey, Fender. The Behringer sounds as good as any. XLR mic input is a plus. No effects, but on board effects are usually a waste anyway.

        Great amp

I don't trust Behringer for gigs but this amp has been in my studio for over a year now and I love it.I use this mainly for my e-drums and the amp boost the sound and keeps it "True" without a problem. My cousins came over just a few months back with guitars and basses so we hooked into my mixer and all played really loud though this amp without any problems. The amp can get extremely loud with its 120W and has a nice setup with its 15" Woofer, 5" mid and high quality tweeter.plenty of inputs and all on the back but no amp for the mic port, at least on my unit. So I fed it though the mixer and put some gain on it.The chips and amp on the inside are great quality and very quiet with audio.for the price, you cant beat it...truly a great deal.the only problem i have is the beast is 80+ pounds so i cant lift it to take it anywhere by myself. This however is not uncommon with the 15" woofer in there...case is sturdy as well and has a nice pair of handles on the side.I would suggest trying this unit out and seeing if you like it.

        Great Buy!

        By Ron Austin

        from Mastic Beach, NY

I've owned this amp now for over 2 years and I've got to say "What a deal!" I've used it for keyboards, vocal work, a bass player used it and wanted to take it home! This amp has a lot of great features not found on most amps, especially the DI out, great for a stage monitor and an out to the sound board. Just wish it had a reverb.

        as good as advertised

Very nice for my Casio WK3000. It's fine for a small room PA as well. Great deal! Will have you thinking Behringer more often.

        Solid amp for the price!

        By Jay-V7HGY

        from Omaha, NE

Plenty of volume and bass response! In addition to keyboards, the KX1200 sounds great with bass, acoustic guitar and electronic drums. The knobs feel cheap and one knob on my amp wasn't molded correctly, but other than that the KX1200 is solidly built. The best thing about this amp is that it can be carried down a flight of stairs by one person! I've tried Roland keyboard amps and I think Behringer is just as good!

A great amp for any level

        By Robert T.

        from Chaumont, NY

I've had this amp for a little more than a month and I love it. It's bass is unmatched by any amp I've ever heard before and if you don't wat bass you can put the bass in negative(bass goes from -4to +4). It can hold 4 guitars keybords or anything that takes an amp. It also can have a microphone and another amp or head hooked up to it.

you get what you pay for

        By Jonathan-ii0ae

        from Atlanta, Ga

When I went to guitar center to purchase this amp they had two brand new out of the box. I wanted to try one out first before I left the store. Good thing I did because neither of the two worked. The guy helping me said they we're brand new and had never been played before. One just made a loud buzzing tone when powered on, the other was really scratchy sounding when you turned the knobs and didn't put out any volume when hooked up to a keyboard. This definately turned me off from the behringer brand. This amp is very affordable for it's size, but all I can say is you get what you pay for, if it even works.
