I'm a keyboardist. My older 60W Roland KC amp couldn't compete against the 100+W amps in my band. Being budget-minded, I searched for a cheap, reliable replacement with the power to hold my own during a performance. The KX1200 came to my rescue! This amp is clean and packs LOTS of power. It feels well built and solid. (Yes, the knobs can be jiggled up & down a bit. Behringer's strength is making quality, affordable equipment. If you plan to knock the hell out of your rig, spend twice the dough on a tank.) The KX1200 has two hefty metal handles built flush into the left and right sides for carrying. I find it's easier to haul around than amps with a single rubber strap across the top that you have to carry like luggage. If you remove the grille, which is mounted with velcro, you'll see a basic paper woofer, midrange, and standard piezo tweeter. I played some rock mp3s through the amp at 50% gain, which more than filled the carpeted warehouse we rehearse in. If that paper woofer can take that kind of pounding, then I'm not worried about playing my boards through it. The power cord is PC-style in that it can be removed completely and could be replaced by the cord on the back of your computer or monitor. But it's short, so be sure to pack an extension cord. This amp is half the price of the Roland KC-550 that I was going to buy. With all this amp's got going for it, you won't be disappointed!

I have 2. The 1st one acted up the day after the 1 year warranty ran out. The LM3886 power amp IC's can take quite a beating but the electrolytic capacitors fail easily. You'll be facing a lot of hum or the unit may burn up. I replaced all capacitors with higher grade ones (I'm a tech). I use both in my studio but not on the road (Peavey KB4 fits the bill on stage). The units are very senstive to AC line fluctuations, loads and noises. It is very hard to filter out noise...my studio is well-filtered and still they can act up. None of my other amps have done this. I've been a musician for over 40 years and a electronics tech almost as long. It may be OK at home but I would not try it on stage again after strange whistling noises happened while performing on stage (again: caused by capacitors). I bought mine locally as sadly Musicians Friend unfortunately does not sell to Canada anymore.

A great amp for any level

By Robert T.

I've had this amp for a little more than a month and I love it. It's bass is unmatched by any amp I've ever heard before and if you don't wat bass you can put the bass in negative(bass goes from -4to +4). It can hold 4 guitars keybords or anything that takes an amp. It also can have a microphone and another amp or head hooked up to it.

Solid amp for the price!

By Jay-V7HGY

Plenty of volume and bass response! In addition to keyboards, the KX1200 sounds great with bass, acoustic guitar and electronic drums. The knobs feel cheap and one knob on my amp wasn't molded correctly, but other than that the KX1200 is solidly built. The best thing about this amp is that it can be carried down a flight of stairs by one person! I've tried Roland keyboard amps and I think Behringer is just as good!

Not good for drums

By Poco Askew

from Undisclosed

See all my reviews

I've had this unit for about two years w/o problems. I bought it to use with my Yamaha DTXpress electronic drum kit. I was hoping to be able to practice at home with it (no gigging). It has worked OK except for the lack of bass and and highs. I cannot get it to reproduce the bass drum and cymbals sound like they have a wet towel thrown over them. Good features but sound quality lacks even with the four tone controls and even at low volume. Others have had reliability problems. Mine has worked fine but I don't use it every day and I don't push it hard.

A Real Workhorse

By Muzikteechur

from Maine

I use this amp for stage sound reinforcement, and for mixing my keys' signals before sending to the main P.A. board. I gig approximately 75 nights/year and this amp is more than up to the task in many ways. The XLR out is a no-brainer that should be on every amp made, but is not. The Master Volume is independent of the XLR output so you can adjust your stage volume without giving your sound man fits. The RCA inputs are useful, but I wish they had their own volume/gain - inputs on this circuit can easily get buried by the 1/4" inputs which DO have their own volume controls. This is a heavy amp, so you'll probably want to add wheels (but, doing so may void a warrantee). The price can't be beat, and this amp is a great value.

huge bang for the buck

Ask me a question

Excellent sound quality for an incredible price. I've used Roland, Hartke, Peavey, Fender. The Behringer sounds as good as any. XLR mic input is a plus. No effects, but on board effects are usually a waste anyway.

Great Buy!

I've owned this amp now for over 2 years and I've got to say "What a deal!" I've used it for keyboards, vocal work, a bass player used it and wanted to take it home! This amp has a lot of great features not found on most amps, especially the DI out, great for a stage monitor and an out to the sound board. Just wish it had a reverb.

Best for Money

By Anonymous

This amp does great keyboard, bass, and microphone. It hasn't had any problem pumpin' out a great sound. I don't suggest using it for a guitar, unless it is a background guitar and not a lead guitar. Great piano sounds.

Design Flaw can be overcome

By MXWest

This thing sounds great, has great features, but suffers from a design flaw. The 3 way crossover is mounted vertically; the full weight of the inductor coil is being pulled by gravity. I've had 2 of these units so far, and both were affected. The first I returned under warranty, but the 2nd I took matters into my own hands and fixed it myself. If you aren't afraid to make the fix yourself when (not if, In My Opinion) this happens, it really is a nice, loud, good sounding portable PA solution.

Behringer KX1200 Keyboard amp

By Johnny Fingers

from richland, michigan

It worked well in the beginning. It's now at a local repair place with a nice little snap, crackle and pop going on. Feedback and a humming noise is a problem when on the same stage with a bass amp, so we had to move it off stage on to the floor where occasionally dancers would adjust the settings. You get what you pay for here.

acoustic

By The Buzz

from Lolo, MT

I got the kx1200 for acoustic guitar with mic set up. It sounds great :-) I ordered another so I can just put a small mixer in the middle and run the amps on each side as powered speakers. I wish there were some effects built in, but for this price and no shipping charges, I can't go wrong. I'll just have to use an outboard effect with the set-up. I can't wait to hear my old Fender bass through it.

Kick *** power

By yamahaman-o7.t2

from Harborcreek, PA

Guitar players in my band use big old Marshalls. They don't believe in holding the stage volume down. At last I can keep up! No effects, but they're on most keyboards. This thing has everything I need... and the price can't be beaten. Great sound quality with any keyboard I've used with it.

very happy

I purchased this amp to power a set of Pintech electronic drums, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the overall sound quality and performance. My son also uses it for vocals as well. So the dual usage is great

Not as punchy on the bottom as a Roland KC500, but sweeter sounding in the upper octaves, less harsh.

KX1200 is good value

By Nick-KNFDX

from Melbourne, Australia

The Behringer KX1200 keyboard amp/pa is, in my opinion, the unrivalled leader of keyboard amps when it comes to value for money. It is a solid performer in all the important areas - sound quality, build quality, design, price... which it excels in. If you're after a multi-purpose keyboard amp that's 1/3 the price of the Roland, buy it.

Best keyboard amp I have heard!

I put this up against a Roland KC300 and a Crate KX100. The behringer beat them both in pureness of sound. Pianos sounded like pianos and horns like horns, etc etc.

failed because of poor quality

By West Texas Guitar Jams

from Ft. Stockton, Tx.

This amp is nice but will require service because the 15" speaker{4ohms} will fail, the amp will fail, also, the fan will fail. Only one repair ruins your investment. Behringer should give us a 5 year warranty and stop field testing at our expense! This is definitly, a throw away.

Good Amp When Getting Started

By Bob Who

from Ashland, NE

See all my reviews

Bought this amp earlier this year from Musicans Friend. First of all they were great in getting it to me very quickly. I use this amp for my Roland drums....works great! During one of our shows we actually ran my drums and three mics through this amp. It work very well and pumped out plenty of sound. Recommend and I believe that you get your bang for your buck on this product!!

Jazzman

By Jazzman-Un_eS

from Englewood, OH

I bought this amp right before thanksgiving and Saturday was the first time it left my house for a gig. The amp held up great, wear my brothers amp Crate ouit on him. But the Behringer stood firm. I'm using a Korg Tritin through it. And for the money I think I might just buy another one. Stereo Thanks again.

Very flexible PA alternative

By Bluezscale

from Norwich, CT

The KX1200 is a great investment for a small PA. Its flexible design allows for lower volume practices and is ideal for small duet type gigs as it permits up to 4 separately control inputs allowing vocals keys and guitars. Its line level inputs permit pre-recorded music to be played, and it is more than adequate as a keyboard amp!

I am very picky about digital keyboard sound. I purchased this to throw in the car and play out with, and I am very happy with the product. The sound is good and the quality is very good. For the price, it is an exceptional buy.
