I bought this to use at a once a week bass gig in a small venue. It worked pretty good the first night. It went out the second gig. Now the repair shop is holding the amp hostage untill Behringer pays the warranty. Its been a month now. I bought another amp and have no intention of using this or any other Behringer product again. The amp sounded pretty good and did the job well while it worked. However, for me, its still money down the drain. I feel ripped off.

Could Do Better.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

Naturally, I play on Crate Digital Amps, but when I saw this in the local guitar shop, I tried it out. I plugged in my Hamer Chapparell, and it sounded alright, then I plugged in my Hamer Monaco, sounded alright again. Then I rented the amp from the shop for a one night gig, and the amp cannot take the power of a Hamer Bass Guitar, and to me, thats unsatisfactory. For professional guitar plays, I personally do not recomend this amp, especially if you play Hamer guitars. But for a beginner, the value of the amp would be perfect.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I have had this amp for about a year know and I have to say that for the price this amp is hard to beat. It has plenty of power for a 1x12 and the kick back feature and portability are nice. It is a little heavier than I expected but overall a good amp especially for a beginner.

sweet when it works

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

When functional, this amp delivers tons of features at a bargain price. The lighted EQ is sort of lame, it needs some sensitivity tweaks, or the gain all they way up to work. It has a decent tone, and features an XLR out. However, on the first jam session I took it to, 23 minutes later, and it stank up the room, smelled like a blown capacitor or something, and that was only at a gain of 5/master of 4. I have exchanged it for an SWR LA12....The studio I work at has had a BXL1200 for many years, and has been abused a lot, so I figured I was safe in buying this amp, but I guess I got the short straw

I almost burnt the house down.

By DjSteins

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I bought this because my school's amp is a whimpy 60 watt keyboard amp that is getting ready to die and I needed a new one for other musical pursuits (a CCM/Christian Rock band) I played it for 5 minutes and it sounded great. I started messing around with the Ultrabass (which I thought was REALLY cool for some uses). My cat jumped over my bass and the cone popped out as far as it would go and made a horrible bleep type noise. A burnt wiring smell began issuing from the rear ports. Needless to say I sent it back and will be getting a new one shortly. I was really quite dissapointed because the one I tested at Guitar Center didn't have this problem and I had abused it for a good 10 minutes.

Excellent Little Amp

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I was looking for a practice amp that I could also use for a small venue and Behringer more than helped me accomplish this. At the local music store I compared this amp to some more pricier competitors and the Behringer shined with not only a wonderful sound but for half the cost. I highly reccomend!

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I bought this amp about 6 months ago. I am MORE than satisfied with it. It hasnt failed me yet. The ONLY thing bad about it is after I use it for about an hour the speaker starts to bottom out at high volume. But its not much of a problem at all. I HIGHLY recommend this amp!

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I bought this amp after Christmas, after I plugged into a Peavey TNT 115 ($$$) and got the bug for a new amp. The 1800A amp has clear and warm tone even at higher volumes and can definitely rattle the walls. The amp sounds pretty decent at both indoor and outdoor gigs and I am very happy with what I got for the money. I don't use the foot switch (yet) and haven't figured out this Ultrabass thing, but I like the compression and Line and XLR outputs are real handy, plus being able to hook up my MP3 player to it and practicing. Go for it!Yeah, its almost 50lbs but if you don't have to lug a long distance, its worth the lug (: I am pretty much a beginner playing gigs, but the feedback from the guys I jam with is all positive and they like it too!!! they can hear the bass for a change. Definitely a small club/pub amp, but for the money you can't go wrong (unless you get a defective one!)

Not bad, not bad at all

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I bought this amp because my Rouge amp had blown one day at practice. At 180 watts, this little amp can hang with a Crate halfstack, and a Mesa Boogie my guitarists have, at practice and shows. It's loud enough to pound out some killer low end, and the high end isn't that bad either. It's semi-lightweight, about 50 pounds or so, not too bad to lug around.I don't use the footswitch much, or change between the channels hardly ever, but when I was testing out the Ultrabass channel, the pictures on my walls started moving. It's pretty massive, I'd reccomend it to anyone playing little local shows with it, and for practice. But, it can only hang with the others, if you want more than just small local shows, you'll need something bigger.

Holy cow! What an amp! I tried this one out for maybe 30 mins where I was jamming with a drummer. Needles to say, I don't think he could have gotten louder then I was. The alluminum cone makes all the difference, all around. I love this amp, I'm getting it for Christmas.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I just got the amp not to long ago and it is amazing. Just the right volume I need for my gigs. I do plan on getting bigger in the future but for now this amp is perfect. I havent figured out the ultrabass and the distortion doesnt really sound distorted. But the quality of it is great. It gets to high volume on low numbers.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I just received my 1800A adn I could not be happier with it! Great sound, plenty of headroom for my style of playing and a ton of useful features. Love the footswitch and two-channel option. Still trying to figure out how to use the Ultrabass feature in a musical fashion but the sonic quality that it provides is very intriguing. would highly recommend this to jazz players - it has a clarity that is uncommon to amps in this price range.

Has everything an "old timer" like myself could want in a small (but still heavy) package. Dual Channel, Shape, Compression and a built in EQ. You can out duel the rest of the band, or worship team with this combo. Who said "be cautious of Behringer", didn't play through this baby! And Musicians Friend really came through on it as well!

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I bought this amp about 3 months ago, and its really good. I barely turn the volume past 4 and i can hear myself clearly over my band's drummer. I havent gotten any effects pedals yet, but the second channels gain turned all the way up, is a good temporary distorted sound. Ive had no problems with it, and im sure that i wouldnt need to mic it for any small gig. Its an all around great amplifier.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

This amp is ok for a practice amp but what got me mad was the fact that as soon as you raise the volume past half way the speaker starts hissing and popping. As long as you don't crank it up it sounds pretty good but I would not attempt to use it if you want to jam leave it at home.

Comments about Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A 180W 1x12" Aluminum Cone Bass Combo:

I replaced my Ampeg BA115 with this because my Ampeg was having major issues with both the input jack and XLR output. Just that I can use the amp without issue is a great improvement. What I don't like is that the speaker is not as clear as my Ampeg, and while this Behringer has 180 watts of output compared to the Ampeg's 100 watts, I have to crank the volume to get the same output. The distortion channel also doesn't seem to have much distortion even with the gain turned to 10.I haven't figured out the Ultrabass. To me, it doesn't make the bass sound any deeper, it just sounds like a "chorus" effect. All in all, while I'm not impressed with features built in, the basic functions of the amp sound fine. This is a great value considering it cost about 45% what my Ampeg cost and without the problems.
