Ultracoustic AT108 Acoustic Combo Amp Bull horn sound

| Review By: Dustin Farnum | 4 months, 5 days ago

Features:

The reviews were good for this combo amp, so I thought it would sound good.  With flat EQ it sounded like a prison bull horn.  If I pulled all the mid out and high to 8 with low at 6, it was possibly usable.  Even then if I got close to the mic it developed a terrible cold (hollow midrange sound).  I had hoped to be able to use it for small solo gigs with guitar and voice. Will not work!!

I have been using the Behringer AT 108 amp for about a week now and I just love this amp,it does not take up much space, which is nice as I am in a trailer in Florida for the winter, but is has plenty of power for a small amp, very well built, I would reccomend it for anyone that does not want a big amp.

very good sound. for the price you cannot beat it.

Noiseless and Decent for electric guitar too

Inexpensive, quiet operation, decent "tube-ish" tone, great natural OD, mic input and volume.

Turn this baby into a head to use with a speaker that handle the amp, and I think you'll find a sweet little setup.

It's light on features, lacking verb or chorus, but what it has is great.

The speaker / cab can't quite handle all the power in the amp, but it's SUPER quiet (no noise).

The tone stack works well as expected.

The VTC is the best thing about it.     Does nice things to the signal - kinda like a warm compression with some pick attack.

If you don't need reverb this guy is just about perfect to take to low volume jam sessions.

I really dig the fact that an electric guitar will overdrive this thing very nicely.     In fact, the OD flavor produced pretty much beats every Lead Channel I have on all my other solid state amps.

It's that VTC circuit/chip.     I had the same experience with their BT108 amp (for bass) - ULTRA quiet operation that overdrive electric guitar nicely.     The BT108 needs more EQ tweaking though to get it usable for electric guitar.

Nice amp - But no bottom sound

I was looking for an inexpensive amp that had dual inputs.  I am just starting out on acoustic guitar and wanted an amp I could plug a mic into and sing along.  This amp provided just that.  However, I was not able to get the exact sound out of the amp that I was looking for.  Everything seemed to be without any bass or bottom.  I worked with the settings for a while but was just unable to get a solid sound from the set-up.  I did try different guitars as well.  Anyway, I ended up sending the amp back.  What a shame as it was a nice looking amp and had the features I was looking for.  If only the sound was more full.      I ended up trying a different amp (Acoustic AG30) and that thing defintely has the solid sound I am looking for.  Only drawback is the price is about 2-3 times more that the AT108.

I own the behringer acx450 amp and use it for my harmonica gigs with great results but at times on rainy days it's a bit heavy to lug,so I picked up the baby (At108) in august. This amp worked great and at 12 pounds it was just what I needed.thank you behringer for making such a great product.
