Hand-crafted tone.

The Blackstar Artisan 100 guitar amp takes the boutique 100W design to a whole new level of flexibility. The Voice control is a timeline that chronicles the evolution of the genre from the earliest American designs through to British designs of the '60s and '70s. This is achieved by switching the preamplifier voicing and power amplifier damping simultaneously.

The Artisan 100 and other amp heads from the Artisan Series are hand wired amplifiers representing the absolute highest standard of craftsmanship and boutique tone. With the emphasis on simplicity and sonic purity, every feature on these guitar amps has been refined to provide the artist with the widest range of reference vintage tones. Point-to-point tag board construction, welded steel chassis' and finger jointed birch-ply cabinets are complemented by beautiful vintage red Tolex and etched aluminum panels.

I Like it

Comments about Blackstar Artisan Series 100 100W Tube Amp Head:

Great sounding amp, easy to dial in many tones.
I have been playing this amp for about a week now and everyday I play it I like it more and more. At frst I did not like the amp at all, even on voice 3 & 4 the amp is not real gainy, it is pretty clean I think overall. It does fender and marshall plexi tones quite well, however in order to distort or drive the amp you have to turn it up, duh, but this amp is very loud, in fact too loud in my opinion. For a 100 watt head it is one of the loudest heads I have ever played, reminds me of my old 5150 combo in terms of volume, set volume at 2.5 and it will blow your head off. I use an 808 and sd1, a reverb and delay pedal in the front of the amp and it souds awesome, this amp has no effects loop. I can get Hendrix, Van Halen, Stevie Ray no problem. The Eq is very rsponsive and quick to dial in a good sound. I like the ability to play 1 amp and have a variety of tones with some minor noodling on the knobs. I have ordered a rockcrusher to see if an attenuator will help with the volume issue, cause when the amp is cranked, like many amps, it is awesome, but it is wicked loud. The volume issuse and no loop aside, I think this is an amazing amp, cant wait to try it with the Rivera Crusher. I got a ridiculous deal on this amp, clearance at GC for a little over $1000, so if you are wondering why I went with a 100 watt head it was price driven, if I had the option at the price to pick a 30 or 50 watt head same model etc I would have opted for a lower wattage head, but the deal was too good to pass up. Did I mention this is handwired as well. Sick get one you will be pleased, but keep in mind this does not have as much gain as a JCM 800 or even a JCM 2000.
I got this amp for a little over $1,000 are you kidding me!!!

Huge Clean Warm Power

Comments about Blackstar Artisan Series 100 100W Tube Amp Head:

If you're on the fence - give this a shot. Get it home and play some chords in front of your 4x12 and listen to them carefully. Rich amplification with all the power on tap.
Played this at the store today - Everything looked to be built very well - and all the different tonalities were musical. Essentially this is a Marshall Super Lead amp with an added voicing knob. The voicing knob has 4 different setting options. I liked the 3rd setting because it seemed to be a nice mid bump that further thickened the sound. I should say that I've owned a plexi for the past 5 years and have not been able to find an amp that can beat it. I think I can say this amp matches it. I would be comfortable with this amp on stage. As I said, basically you've got a plexi with a voicing knob - which I think is a cool feature. If you need real dirt, just like the plexi, you need pedals for that - which I have no problem with - but some people think these type amps are hard rock in a box. They're actually very clean. Overall I think this is a great amp worth a serious looking into.

Premium amp for premium demands.

Comments about Blackstar Artisan Series 100 100W Tube Amp Head:

I am a profession guitarist.World touring, multi album credits, and tonal retentive artist! I have owned,or do own, every premium amp available.I purchased this amp at GC,and upon first use at a show,as opposed to in the store(big factor)my bones shivered at the sheer power, articulate, and unique tone of this handmade work of aural art!. This amp is an advanced design on the Godfather of amps:the 100watt plexi. However,it goes beyond with unique response, tone, and features.Tight, ungodly toneful, hideously powerful,go to the amp alone for the greatest classic British tones you've ever heard, add an overdrive or distortion, and there is NOTHING that can top this.I LOVE my Budda,Bogner, and plexi 50 watt, however, for live shows, this will forever be my goto.Hand made with beautiful workmanship (I also do a bit of tech work,I know what went into this)this starts at Bluesbreakers and will take you anywhere else.BUY IT!

Comments about Blackstar Artisan Series 100 100W Tube Amp Head:

This amp has the greatest clean sound ever!! you can jump channels one and two together and get an awesome mixed plexi/fender twin sound. it has lots of bite to it, just hits you in the face. i picked up the head for half off at the local guitar center with the matching cab, i have mostly hardwire effects with a blackstar tube dist and it sounds really defined, this is the best sounding amp ever made as for as cleans go. its impossible to make this thing sound bad on any setting!

Great head - Little issues

By Mccready_Fan

Comments about Blackstar Artisan Series 100 100W Tube Amp Head:

I love this amp... It is the most powerful amp I have played on yet. It is too loud. The value is great for the amount of amp you get. This is perfect for playing any gig... Not the amp for inside the house because of the power. Not too many bells and whistles but its not a bad thing. The quality and sound more than makes up for it. My only complaint is that it quit working... I am in the process of getting it replaced.
