I bought this amp for one reason: Practicing in the bedroom without pissing off my wife or waking the kids. This amp is slightly larger than a shoe box and very light weight. This amp sounds unbelievable for it's size and low cost. The clean sounds are great and the overdrive channels are surprisingly full with enough low end to satisfy most players. The effects are basic without great flexibility but enough to make it worthwhile. The stereo sounds of this little 2 X 5 is simply fantastic. Every time I use it for practice I still can't believe how good this things sounds for an amp in it's price range. My first amp I bought 30 years ago cost the same amount and sounded like garbage. Most amps will start to sound thin or lose their tone quality at low levels but this amp doesn't do that. It sounds good at whisper quiet all the way up to much louder volumes. If you buy this amp to gig with I would guess you will be disappointed. Footswitch option is not available on this model but the next size up does allow you to use one. That was not an issue for me since I was trying to keep to a small package. MF even threw in the Gold Coverage for two years at no extra charge so this is guaranteed for two years as well, all for under one C note!
Simply put, when you keep it all in perspective with the cost, sound quality, ease of use and size of the amp, it is a winner!

I purchased this amplifier solely to run direct into the front of house system. I have been using a Blackstar HT-1RH for quite some time direct to the board. I wanted to use the ID CORE 10 to do the same, but have the extra stereo effects available to use since one band that I play with runs stereo all the time. We all run direct also. The sound is great. However, the ID CORE 10 did not deliver at all. The "emulated out" which I need to use did not work properly. As soon as the jack was plugged in, the amplifier would emit a mid-range squeal that made the amp unusable in my situation. Trying different stereo patch chords along with different mixing consoles yielded the same results. The amp was packed up and ready to return within a few hours of receiving it. I really hoped this would have worked out. Once again though, MF comes through with their great customer service and allowed me to return it without hassle. I did not take an exchange. The experience made me very weary of receiving another bad amp. I am a Blackstar fan and intend to purchase the ID 15TVP for the same use that was planned with the ID CORE 10. Hopefully that amplifier will work as well as my HT-1RH. Playing direct allows the stage volume to be comfortably low. My drummer uses a full ELECTRONIC kit. The venues that I have been playing at these past few years are too small to safely play with a real drum set without damage to your ears since we are usually set up almost on top of each other. Gone are the days of big stages and ample room for the band to set up. I believe that the ID CORE 10 would probably be a great amp for my live needs but the unit I received was defective.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10W 2x5 Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

I think some in here were expecting a "gig" ready amp and that's not what this guy is. What it really does is blow away every other small practice amp I've ever played and I've been in this business for 47 years. I'd recommend this amp to anyone who want's THE "practice" amp for the money hands down.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10W 2x5 Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

This is the ultimate apartment bedroom practice and self recording USB amp. It sounds good with the presets, the mp3 input works great for jamming with back up tracks and the USB makes it very easy to record to audacity to get great sound. I run a behringer distortion pedal through it to go from distortion to clean and it works great. Quieter and easier to deal with than the Fender Mustang which is the better amp.... but not the better amp for me. This would be a 5 if I could have gotten the Insider software to work but in a way I am glad I didn't to keep it simple. Still if you offer something and it doesnt work you get docked a star.

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10W 2x5 Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Really wasn't expecting much but some other reviews seemed positive. Opened up the box and was not impressed by this lightweight. BUT - was I mistaken! No pedals, no out board effects - this thing just rocks. It's not meant to be an arena amp or even for small gigs but could certainly do them with the emulated line out. From my guitar's piezo generated acoustic tones to Van Halen tapping and dive bombing, clarity to total crunch - it has it all. I'm considering buying the 20 or 40 watt version just to see how they compare. For under a hundred green I've never been this impressed with a box. Now if it just holds up as good as it sounds! Please purists - it's not a Plexi or Dumble, or even a 65 Deluxe Reverb... it's not meant to be. But if you want to have something that covers literally every genre of guitar I can imagine at surprising volumes for its size and cost; look no further.

I'd just like to say I', not afilliated with Blackstar or musician's Friend in any way. Well if you're looking for a nice cheap practice amp, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO. Seriously, for 100$, this amp is astounding. Although it only has two 3" speakers, It sounds massive... I thought it was a 2X5 when i bought it, sounds bigger than that. It has built in effects which are nice, it has Blackstar's ISF which is awesome, its portable which is a big deal for me. It comes with a USB output which can be used with your computer and Blackstar's INSIDER software which gives you alot more effects and patches. You can go to the online forum and download amp settings to get virtually any sound you want. I love everything about this amp accept that the knobs and controls are on the top, and that it doesn't have a real handle (just a nylon strap that buttons to the sides). STOP HESISTATING, BUY IT, YOU WON't BE SORRY

Comments about Blackstar ID:Core 10W 2x5 Stereo Guitar Combo Amp:

Excellent sound when used within its parameters. It think that this amp brings out the best of tone because you tend to use the amp within its mid to upper power range. Using a large amp at low volume does not project the intended sound design; however, this amp does what it is supposed to do because of where a guitarist would naturally practice. For such a small package the sound is remarkable. If you need a large performance amp for a large venue, just mic this little critter up (or purchase a large amp). The design and quality of Blackstars products is excellent. I highly recommend this amplifier.

I'm 30 with a family. I was looking for a small but powerful amp with a wide range of sound. I've been around music my whole life have friends in touring bands. The amp is sick for apartment use or if you have a spouse and children and need to be quiet but don't want to stop playing. Great starter amp to discover your sound. Only real con is that blackstars selling point is the idcore insider software, amp did not come with a USB cable to connect to your pc. No reason not to by.

I traded in my Marshall Valvestate 12AX7 because I can't play it loud enough to saturate the tubes to take full advantage of them without my wife divorcing me and I always like to have a backup amp. My main amp is an Acoustic Lead Series G20. I bought the Blackstar on name recognition alone. Bad move. Now I didn't download any patches for it, but out of the six pre-installed settings, it's awful. Can not get a warm tone out of any of them. Very nasal sounding and just a very processed and weak tone. I took it back to GC and got an Acoustic Lead Series G10 and a used Dunlop Cry Baby. The Acoustic's don't have all the bells and whistles, but a much warmer and fuller sounding tone. The G20 even sounded better than my Marshall and you can play small gigs with the G20. Save yourself some money and get either the Acoustic Lead Series G20 or G10. The G20 is an awesome practice amp that you could record or play small gigs with and the G10 is a solid and great sounding practice amp.

The "starter-amp" moniker is an insult to this amp. It is an extremely portable, great sounding amp that belies its price. Has great sounding built in effects, a tuner, and a variety of amp sounds that will cover any and all styles that you feel the urge to play. Does it have the muscle or sound of a 4x12 cab? No, but have you ever moved a half stack and pedal board into the living room on a moments notice just to noodle around for 3-4 minutes? With this amp, you can and you won't be disappointed.

I had previously reviewed this and my update is it stopped working after 3 months. Love the amp and all the sounds but not much good if it don't work. Now I have to ship it back at my cost.

I can't believe how great this little amp is it has a big sound. The super wide stereo really fills the room. Easy to use not complicated at all. It's so portable and lightweight. I love using the insider software where you can select and download the particular sound Zeppelin, Guns & Roses etc. Headphones sound pretty good. I also like how it sounds using the line in and jamming to my favorite songs. I even use it for online lessons as I can jam along with the instructor. You won't be disappointed with this amp.

It seems Blackstar's amp update via USB kills the amp dead in many cases and they are aware of this. Save up and buy a different brand. You wont last long Blackstar, making garbage like this.

This amp is awesome. The Super wide stereo thing sounds like just a gimmick but it does what it says it will do and it sounds fantastic! One thing that impressed me about this amp was the versatility of it. You can do anything from the cleanest sparkly cleans to the dirtiest of distortion a and it all sounds great!

For the price, this amp is an absolute steal and blows the competition out of the water in terms of MGs and Frontmans!

If you are considering it, get it! You won't be dissapointed

For 99 bones you cant beat it. It is alot like a Roland Cube right down to the way the effects are laid out to the little strap they give you. It sounds alot closer to the same attack you get out of a tube amp than a cube though. You might even be able to mic it up if you were desperate...lol. I wouldn't suggest using this as your main amp, get a good combo or a head for your live use. I have it chillin in my living room so I can just mess around in between taking care of the kid or whatever I'm doing around the house. Its nice to have an amp that has a few effects that sound cool and the Super Crunch is a nice clear distortion for practicing some new scales or working out a new song and not be over saturated or sounding like microchips, witch to me makes it very unsatisfying to even play the guitar. I have bought a few hundred 10 to 20w amps in my day and I never did write a review about them.
