Bogner

The best modern and vintage amp sounds combined with Bogner's renowned technological advances.

This Bogner Ecstasy guitar amp head was designed to breathe like sweet old amplifiers—all living in one box. The standard features allow the "DNA" of the 3 distinctly voiced channels to be radically morphed into sounds of the past, present, and future. The Ecstasy tube head comes with EL34 power tubes and by using the footswitch, you can access 6 tuned variations of these channels instantly. Imagine going from Bogner's notorious barking Plexi mode to the greasiest, harmonically chewy overdrive . . . then washing it all down with the most decadent clean tone. The Bogner Ecstasy amp head comes standard with an amazing array of controls: 1/2 power switch, Old/New style switch, 3-way Excursion switches to control speaker cabinet dampening, 2 presence controls (one assignable), gain boost, Plexi mode, Structure, 3 Pre-EQ switches, tube buffered series/parallel FX loop.

Features

  • Ch 1: gain, bass, middle, treble, volume, pre eq, boost
  • Ch 2 and Ch 3: gain 2, gain 3, bass, middle, treble, vol 2, vol 3, pre eq 2, pre eq 3, gain-structure, gain boost, plexi mode
  • Effects loop return master volume for power-amp
  • Effects loop tube buffered (series or parallel) with Effects mix control
  • Dual assignable presence controls
  • Dual assignable Excursion switches for loose, medium and tight feel
  • Power section 100W EL34 or 6L6 (50W optional)
  • 1/2 power and old/new style switch (cuts power from 100W to 50W to 25 W)

With just a tube change and a biasing every once in a while, the Bogner Ecstasy offers wonderful sound for many years to come.

Comments about Bogner Ecstasy 101B 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head with EL34s:

First of all you should know that this is NOT a plug and play amp, this amps have so many features that compromisse your tone so you will need to read the manual before.

Clean/Green: The clean channel is nice and warmth, is not like a twin reverb but still can be very fenderish. Pedals sounds great in this channel. The thing that I didn't like is that this channel have a lot of compression but it sounds very good.

Blue Channel: This Channel is more than a heavy overdrive channel than a distortion for me.Is very harmonic with a lot of dynamics. You can get great Rock n Roll and heavy Rock tones from it. What I didn't like is that this channel is a little bit Boomy(to much bass) so You need to keep the bass knob to 10-11 clock style. Another important thing about this channel is that you NEED to put Gain on it. Gain should be at least to 2pm, otherwise the channel get boomy and God knows why it sounds bad without gain.

Red Channel. This Channel have the same EQ than the Blue channel with an individual gain and volume. Very nice heavy tones. Don't put the gain more than 3pm otherwise the distortion gets fuzzy.
This channel is not my favorite but you can make interesting things if you play with it.

Excursion A-B. Always use the Escursion switches on "L" if you use them in "T" OR "M" you will comprees the amp and it would sounds really bad specially the clean channel that even with "L" switch sounds compressed.

Presence/Excursion. Both switches interact together. My set up is to assign the presence B switch to channel 1. This will means that presence B and Excursion B will work only for the clean channel and Presence A will work for both blue and red channels. I keep the presence of the clean channel very low and the presence A for Blue and Red channel at 12 O clock. If you leave the presence B switch on "o" presence A will work for 3 channels and you don't want to do that..

Gain Boost 1: If you are using the bogner foot controller leave the switch in L so when you press the boost option on the foot controller you will put more drive.
Clean boost is awful, too much Decibels up with no dynamics and 0 response. It simple dosen't work

Pre EQ Channel 1: I leave it in "o" Both b1 or b2 are too bright for me.

Plexi mode: Plexi mode is nice. When you assign this switch to ether blues or red channel it reduce gain and makes your dist into an overdrive. I don't use this option because I feel that I lose dynamics. If you want a plexi tone put an overdrive or dist pedal on the clean channel and it will work better.

Structure: This switch is extremely IMPORTANT. If you put the switch on L it means that both blue and red channels would change the drive to less. The amp would get really with too much bass, you will lost dynamics, response and sensible touch. I Use the switch on "H" As we all want that bogner ripping overdrive and distortion sound with a lot of gain and full response this is the way it should be!

Gain Boost channel 2-3:For the red and blue channel it puts a lot of drive into it which I would prefer having a control for that because is too much BUT is a good option that the amp gives you.
Put the switch on L if you are using the bogner controller,

Pre EQ channel 3: I use this on "O"

Pre EQ Channel 2. You can use it on "o" or B2, B1 will add gain, mids and high frequencies.

---------------------------------------
Back

Always use your Fx Loop on series. Fx loop master Vol should be set by hearing that when you turn off the loop by the footswitch or by hand the vol dosen't go up or down.
Use the amp en NEW mode. Old mode would give you a weaker sound. Always play on full power and if you have the option to set the amp on Class A or AB just but the AB option. If you don't have the switch to put that option it menas that the amp comes on AB class by factory default.

One of the best of all time

Comments about Bogner Ecstasy 101B 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head with EL34s:

searching for "my" tone led me to listen to online clips of the Ecstacy. When I heard them I knew it was the amp for me. I had to sell a couple of beloved guitars and a TSL100 to get it, but it was worth it.The Ecstacy Blue channel just has a chewy, woody, chunky knock that is heaven to my ears. The Red channel has enough gain for all but the most extreme metal heads, and the Green channel has a gorgeous full sound (when dialed in correctly: cahnnel volume at 10, use channel gain to adjust volume).Yes, there are a lot of knobs and switches and the amp is extremely versatile, but the good news is, I haven't found a bad tone in this baby!Seriously, you can just plug into this amp with the knobs in any random configuration and it will sound good. The quality is freakishly good as it should be for an amp in this price range. Built out of the best quality components, it will last a lifetime if taken care of.I know it looks like a lot of money, but if that's the tone you hear in your head (like me) you just gotta go for it. Life is too short for bad tone.

Comments about Bogner Ecstasy 101B 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head with EL34s:

I've had the amp 2 months. As the last guy said there is a lot to figure out on this amp... It's hard to make it sound bad, but finding your perfect sound can take a while. I'm still working on it. I love it though. I would buy it again.

Tought to set up, but perfect when done right!

Comments about Bogner Ecstasy 101B 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head with EL34s:

I've owned the Ecstasy for 1.5 years now. It took me over eight months to get it sounding the way I wanted it to, which is a LONG time to wait. The fact is, the controls are all integrated and as such, there's a steep learning curve to understand them. However, since getting it set up, this amp has an array of tones available that are unmatched, and a feel that will make any player thrilled.I play the Ecstasy with a Strat, Les Paul and ESP Horizon. Something neat about this amp is the way it highlights each guitar's unique tone, really bringing out the best in them all. For cabs, I use the matching Bogner 4x12 with G12M greenbacks, and for any style - clean country to metal - this setup never fails to make jaws drop!Feel free to email me for details on how to set it up. It can be tricky since the manual is a bit....lacking.
