BOSS DD-3 Delay Pedal -- Great for Blues Harp!

| Review By: Dan Tracy | 1 month, 4 weeks ago

Features:

I got the BOSS DD-3 Delay Pedal for exclusive use while playing Blues Harmonica. I had previously tried a multi effects pedal from another manufacturer that had lots and lots of effects that could be programmed. What I discovered, is that almost all of the effects available are totally useless for amplified harmonica use. Also, I found that even though the multi effects unit had a lot of options --- it did not do any of them very well.

Tha BOSS DD-3 does only one thing -- it's a Delay Pedal -- but it does this function very, very well! That was the only effect I really wanted, so I exchanged the multi effects unit for the DD-3. I would much rather have a pedal that done only one thing -- but does that one thing well -- than to have a choice of dozens of effects which are only done -- sort of OK --.

There are less expensive delay pedals out there (yes, I also have one of those gathering dust), but this is definitly a case of "You get what you pay for".

I am rating the DD-3 as a 9 out of 10 because the unit DOES NOT come with an AC adapter. A 9 volt battery does not last all that long, and is a bit of a hassle to change (especially if you're playing somewhere). What you want is a nice fresh battery, and then use an AC adapter. That way you're covered no matter what!

I would suggest to BOSS that they include the AC adapter. This will make the unit a 10 out of 10 and keep customers from getting irritated with having to spend more money on an AC adapter.

Quality:

Built like a tank -- metal -- not plastic.

Value:

A little pricey, considering that it does not include the AC adapter.

Overall:

If a great delay pedal is what you need --- get this one! You will never regret the extra money spent. You can pick up an AC adapter for $7.00 from another source so you don't feel the pinch of buying the $30 BOSS adapter.

Trying to find a delay for my guitar

| Review By: Forrest Hargrove | 4 months, 1 day ago

4 people out of 4 found this review helpful

Features:

I bought a delay for my guitar 27 years ago, it was a Boss DM-3, it went out on me a couple of months ago and could not be fixed. I tried 3 different ones from Musicians Friend, I tried the DD-3 twice and it came close to being what I was looking for, after working with it a while I started  getting the sound I was looking for, It sounded so good I have to set my guitar and amp every day and play it, I am 78 years old and don't play the clubs anymore but this delay gives me a better sound than the DM-3 I had for 27 years,

Quality:

It is well made and will last from now on.

Value:

It is well worth the money I paid

Overall:

It gives me a pure guitar sound and makes the guitar sound better than ever before

Features:

I am 78 years old and bought a Boss DM-3 in 1984 and would never use anything else, it played out on me a month and a half ago and could not be fixed, I went on line at Musicians Friend looking for a new  digitaL pedal, I tried three different ones, I tried the dm-3 twice because it came close to giving me a true guitar sound, I got it yesterday and my looking is over, it gives me a pure guitar sound, I can't play it enough, I actually like it better than the dm-3.
