i am a semi pro musician, playing 3 or 4 nights a week here in colorado in the summer and down around cabo in the baja when its cold up here.playing lots of bluesand classic rock. i have tried the gt 10, gt 100, hd 500, rp 1000,tonelab ex,zoom g7,and now have this ME70 and i have to say this one is the best one yet.my other rig is just my amp and the amps reverb and on my pedal board i have only my amps footswitch ,a ts9 tubescreamer,a boss sd1 overdrive, boss noise suppressor and tuner.im not a big effects junkie, but i am big on tone. the ME 70 has an SD1 and ts9(blues) available. i use only 2 amp models..the clean and the lead stack and dialing different levels of gain on each i now have several different banks of clean and dirty channels to choose from and the tones are good enough to compare to the real thing. ive been doing A/B tests back and forth from my pedal board and the ME70 and it seems i have been able to dial them in almost exactly the same.my amp does not have a master volume so turning up in the middle of a set has always been a hassle trying to even out the levels so now with the ME70 i just set my levels, clean and clean boost and dirty and dirty boost and the clean volume on my amp is now my master volume as well as another master volume on the ME70. i like the convienience of that a lot!! anyways, this thing is super easy to use and sounds good enough to me that ive put away my pedal board and all that tap dancing that goes on with individual pedals and am using this as my main rig.the ME70 effects are very usable and the wah is good enough. only thing i dont really like is the bank up and down system, would be nice to have separate bank switches, and also its easy to accidentally switch from preset mode to pedalboard mode if your not careful with switches 3 and 4. overall i have fond this one to be the best sounding and easiest to use multieffects that ive seen. maybe the GT100 or hd 500 might have some better tones but they are really super complicated so i like the ME70 best over all.

When my ME50 failed after 7 years (not bad) I purchased the ME70. It does have some improved features and usability benefits leading to greater versatility overall, however, I'm not a big fan of the processed sound. From a sonic perspective it seems to deliver more of what bugged me a little with the ME50. I find it radically alters the natural tone of my Fender Twin or my JMC 800. I find it makes the sound "smaller," less "live," and "colored." My Les Pauls seems to be a little more stable (not great), but my custom Tele and Strats sound like plastic. Of course huge benefits to not having 12 pedals in your chain, but sadly I am giving up on multi pedals and reconnecting my stomp boxes.

Comments about Boss ME-70 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I want to start out by saying that I am a true believer that your tone should come straight from your amplifier so I did not purchase this with the intent to use it as a distortion pedal.
I used to have a large pedal board made up of many top notch pedals, mostly boss products including the dd-7 and ps-3 and I can say that these effects really do sound quality just like what you get in the stomp boxes. I use this mostly for modulation and delay effects but I also really enjoy the pitch related effects such as the octave and harmonizer. The wah pedal is actually pretty solid too.
I run this through a peavey 6505+ and marshall 1960 cab and the effects sound great with my clean and lead channel. They don't sound digital or processed and they don't sound cheap. I'm pretty happy with this unit over all.
I would say that if you're looking for a multi effects board that has quality sounding effects and you don't want to spend tons of money to go try this one out.
I have been playing in live bands for the past 5 years and I also use it at home for my own leisure!
The only reason I gave this a 4 stars instead of 5 is because I personally don't care for the distortions or preamps and would much rather have those banks for other effects.

Comments about Boss ME-70 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
This won't replace a high end pedal board. I have found it to be very handy as a backup pedal board and for gigs where floor space is at a premium, though. I can't speak to it's functionality as a processor as that's not my thing.
When used as 'stomp boxes', I found it to be relatively comparable to Boss' offerings in standalone pedals tone-wise. It seems to 'deaden' the response in all my amps to some degree as compared to pedals when using an effects loop - not so much when run in front of the amp. This was particularly apparent with the distortions. Maybe part of the reason for past reviewers' issues with distortion tones?
I'm not a fan of modeling amps/preamps, and that section of the ME-70 is no exception. Too tinny and fuzzy for my ears.
When run as a pedal board on stage, I found it to be user friendly. As is typical with Boss pedals, it's pretty easy to dial in a usable tone. No one's going to mistake it for boutique pedals, but it's VERY usable if you're familiar at all with Boss pedals.
All in all, a great little unit for the money.

Comments about Boss ME-70 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
Ok, so you're not going to use this if you're a Nashville or LA star with a few hit songs under your belt and doing sold out concert shows. But for the rest of us this is an awesome tool for practice, creating original songs, home recording and performing for those small gigs and bars. It's a Boss with great construction and layout. Fairly easy to use once you play with it and look at the manual for a few minutes. I love it. It's a keeper and like many stomp boxes I've owned, won't end up in the closet until I sell it on ebay. The only down side is that once you start playing with it at home, you'll lose all sense of time and before you know it, the sun comes up and you realize you missed another night of sleeping. Get this.

Comments about Boss ME-70 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
First off my guitars are quality so are my amps. They were not an issue. I,m sure the sound of this unit will turn someones crank? but I could not find a setup on it that I liked. It was all tonal problem. everything sounded AM transisster radio scratchy with no soul, warmth or depth. I played around with it on and off for a year. I think thats giving it more than a chance, then sold it.
Though I wish every one luck with theirs.

Comments about Boss ME-70 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I was going back and forth between this a a Line 6 PodHD. The final decision really came down to the fact that I don't want to have to be a computer programmer to use an effect pedal. Straight out of the box, I plugged the ME70 up with headphones and any apprehension I had about the purchase was gone. With the knobs all at 12'oclock, this thing was pretty amazing, dialing it in was simple and made it incredible. I LOVE the phrase looper, you can play a rhythm and then play lead over it with any combo of OD/effects you want to add. I have not played direct into a PA so don't know how that would work, but the amp mods work well through the phones, I turn them off for my amp.
Some have complained about the lack of power cord.. this isn't ideal, but it uses a standard adapter so I simply use one I already had. I have my onespot hooked up to my other pedal board, but I hear it would work too.

Comments about Boss ME-70 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
I received this as a gift and immediately added it into my effects chain. I run a Cort CR250 through this and into a Bugera V55hd head, and overall, I'm satisfied. Modulation effects are awesome for clean settings, such as the Flange and phaser, and using chorus on a dirty channel gives a somewhat Zakk Wylde-ish sound. My complaints about this board are that the distortion settings are either too much, or not enough. I use EMG 81 and 85's and I like a good amount of gain, but I'm not impressed. I also avoid the EQ settings. They give the amp a bit of a fuzzy sound that is not appealing.

Comments about Boss ME-70 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:
This is a rock solid (quite literally) product. The effects built in are top notch and I can't believe how cheap I got it! My only complaint are the distortion effects. They're either not there or too much. But the R FEIR section of the preamp gives you a nice mesa boogie sound. The clean effects on this are beautiful though, and worth the price alone.

With nine banks this board is capable of tons of stored settings. Compared to buying all the stomp boxes you would have to buy to get these effects, economically, it is hard to pass this board up!
