Comments about Budda Superdrive 45 Series II Amp Head:
It's not one of the sought after brands...but it will be one of the most sought after amps--soon.This amp sounds so good to me. It has that touch response that many don't have. The superdrive 45 is one raging mother! The thing is ,it is built and designed around the characteristics and performance of that type of output tube..the KT66. Sounds like a good old Marshall but with more attitude and sweeter at the same time. With hot pups, this amps simply screams and moans, with single coils it has a very dynamic feel. Utterly awesome amp!Owned everything from early fenders(60's and '70's)to a '68 small top 50 watt marshall to an early '70's ampeg head to many peaveys,mesa's..even a kitty hawk (another great amp)seymour duncan, sound city, traynor, and rolands. THIS AMP KILLS. It's not a metal amp, but if you want robust attack-responsive tone--look no futher.
Comments about Budda Superdrive 45 Series II Amp Head:
Sound Quality : 10 This amp,and its bigger predisessor, have managed to capture two completly different amp tones from the 2 channels. The clean channel reeks of Vox honk and bell-like glaze, and although the amp runs Class AB,a beautifully touch reactive Class A voicing! The lead channel starts at a likewise reactive harmonically dense crunch,to a creamy smooth overdrive.I have found that the 45 seems to have a bit more gain, perhaps because I turn it up when playing live, than the 80,which when turned up, levels all life within 100 yards! Pull the middle control, and the tone gets a bit more edgey and scooped for metal head tone. All in all, I have owned and toured with EVERY amp there is, and Budda is HOME for me. My music ranges from jangly pop melodies and very progressive rock, like the Beatles meet the Dregs and these amps actually seem to inspire better playing and articulation. On the other hand, it also makes your shortcomings audible, so, this amp is not for the schlock. I use predominantly Strats and SG's and the vibe of the amp kicks for humbuckers, but I think, SMOKES Strat versatility
Comments about Budda Superdrive 45 Series II Amp Head:
I don't own it but I've heard 2 guitarists play it. The first was in a pop dance band (but a real good guitarist) the second was in a *hard* rock band.I have a Mesa Boogie Simul Sync V 90 and the Buddha smokes it.
Comments about Budda Superdrive 45 Series II Amp Head:
I bought this baby because I own the 80II,and quite frankly,it is far too loud for any small gigs! The 45 is almost identical except that it adds a tube rectifier as well as the solid state one,and uses KT66 tubes for power, instead of 6L6's.I am a pro fessional guitarist for 30 years, and have owned EVERY amp there is,and the Superdrive 45 is hands down, the most responsive, tonefull(?)and gorgeous sound that I have ever gotten from one amp!It is built like a tank, does everything from sparkle clean,to HUGE fat overdrive. Not for metal, but for any and all pros that are tired of looking for the last link in their search for unparralled tone!
