OVERVIEW

120W of boutique-quality tone, with two versatile channels.

Bugera's goal with the 120W 6260 tube guitar head was the tone of a high-power, super-lead amp, with all the virile crunch it takes to detonate the center stage. With 6L6s this design has a very open and glassy tone; with EL34s, it takes on a more compressed and noticeably midrange character.

With the master up and using the Clean gain knob for volume, you get pristine, yet fat clean power. Turning the Clean gain up gradually causes the amp to react like a non-master volume amp, and achieves a very natural sounding overdrive, what the company calls "Texas Clean".

Turning the master and gain up together causes the amp to react like a non-master volume amp. Turning Clean channel gain up achieves a very natural sounding overdrive. The amp will react sharply to changes in volume or attack from the instrument.

The Crunch setting is simply the clean channel with more gain from another 12AX7 to create the rock ˜n roll rhythm sound heard on all your classic rock faves.

The Bright switch helps darker sounding instruments cut through and really shines when using a hollow or semi-hollow body guitar.

The Lead channel is all about articulate gain and sustain. Copious amounts of harmonics and compression help solos stand out and cut thru the band with ease.

Separate master volumes allow for easy rhythm-clean/solo-lead switching with total control over the level of each sound.

This is a nice head, the reverb sounds good, bright switch adds some good tone. But the big selling points for me are that on the lead you have more gain than you would ever need, but on the clean you can get really clear bright tones. This amp can do a lot. If I had to complain about the amp I may say I wish it had a little more control for the crunch setting, I think the bugera 333 may be a more flexible option. If you goal is a lead that can get super dirty and gain loaded as well as a clean that is really clear then feel safe looking at this amp. If you want a little more flexibility for more mid range gain sounds I would look at the 333. Also 120 watts is a lot of power, You could def gig with this and not be washed out by the rest of the band.

Well, I was so excited about getting this amp for my 4x12 cab. Such a great deal. Day one was awesome. It really sounded good. Clean sounded clean. Crunch had great crunch. Lead sounded nice and dirty.

On day two, however, I turned on the power, waited a couple minutes, then engaged standby. The volumes were all at O, but there was a buzz. I looked to see if it might be coming from the effects loop, but it was off. Then the speakers started crackling a bit. After about six or so pops, the power and standby lights went off and would not come back on.

I plugged my cab into my other amp, and no problems.

I called MF right away, and set up for return. As always, MF is great. No hassles. Just nice, friendly service. I am unhappy about the amp because it was such a great deal, but I'm very happy with how painless the service was.

Comments about Bugera 6260 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Build construction of the amp looks pretty solid. The tolex that is used is not the best in the world, but it looks pretty nice on the amp. The amp comes with a solid looking footswitch. One thing that I also liked about it was that the Bias test point and pot are easy to access. The the Output and Pre-amp tubes are also very easy to access.

As far as playability, I had the chance to play it for a couple hours at Bedroom volumes. Even when the volume is at 1, it is still pretty loud. Anything before 1, the head sounds muddy and dark. At bedroom levels, I found myself cranking the presence. The EQ on the amp doesn't have a very wide range. But even at the range it was given, it still sounds pretty awesome.

Unlike other heads like it, the head doesn't have resonance control. However, if you crank the gain about 2/3, you can get more resonance. It gives you that very similar iconic tone of the 6505/5150. Having already owned the 5150iii 50w, it sounds pretty close.

If you are buying this amp, I would recommend an overdrive pedal for the crunch channel. This amp does hum a lot, so I would also recommend a noisegate.

Stupid Deal Of The Day Purchase Here. Couldn't pass up the low price. Solidly built, Affordable Bone Crushing HiGain Amp.I play this thing nearly everyday since receiving it. I run modulation pedals thru the FX Loop with good results. The clean channel takes overdrive pedals well, adding to another Crunch Channel if one so chooses. The lead channel is just what it is..Blistering lead lines can be achieved here with wonderful sustain. She's holding up so far with about 30 hours in.Not a 6505,close... But i'm thinking with some tube upgrades the tones will be even more awe inspiring.

This amp was cool when I got it. after the first day the power got weak and was not as good as the first day of use. Very unreliable you never new if it would work as good as the first day every time you used it. After a week it just quit working completely. Dealing with Musicians Friend on the return was easy but, It took along time to get my exchange (Bugera 333) I am hoping this amp will work and do what is suposed to do as advertised if not I will return the new one as well and just get my money back and wait to buy something else because I want a loud tube amp...I still am waiting for the new amp to get here so we will see...

Comments about Bugera 6260 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This is a great amp if you can get it on the cheap like it was for SDOTD. Only thing that has gone bad on this head after having it for 2 years is the power and standby bulbs have either burned out or soldered themselves as they occasionally had come back on for very limited amounts of time. None of that effects the tone of the amp thankfully. The impedance selector is very nice as is the switchable effects loop. One thing I do wish this amp had was a foot switchable clean and crunch, making it a 3 channel amp instead of 2. This is because the lead channel in my opinion is a bit too much, this is mostly because I am using active pickups, however using something with low output pickups the lead channel can shine.

Overall it is a good amp for the value and I would surely recommend it to my friends looking for a high power tube head.

Comments about Bugera 6260 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this (on a Stupid Deal of the Day) because at the price I simply couldn't pass it up. Wanted to see what a 9 tube 120W amp sounded like. I have a couple smaller tube combo amps, but at 120W I knew this would have some serious power. First off, when I unpacked it, I was very impressed with the build quality. Did not look or feel cheap at all. Heavy metal grills front and back, and even vents on top, to keep those tubes well ventilated. I like the "arrow" style knobs (not sure what you actually call them) but it makes it really easy to see where they are set from a distance. I plugged it in and ran it through a single 12" Celestion 70/80. Basically, it ROCKS! I don't know how loud it will go, because running it at 2 to 3 is about all I can take in my studio: it is LOUD! But also clear and very responsive. And, surprisingly, very quiet when on and not being played. All in all, I am very happy with it. I have since built a dedicated speaker cabinet for it, running it through two 12" Celestions. I plan on taking it outdoors and turning it up: seeing what it can really do. It is very versatile, being able to run multiple cabinets at either 4, 8 or 16Ω. The built-in reverb works great. The foot pedal, with 4 switches, gives lots of options and so far has held up well. The effects loop works like it should. My only question is: how can they make a tube amp this nice and this powerful for what I paid for it? Oh well, guess I'll just enjoy. Thanks Musicians Friend!

This amp is what it is advertised to be. It is a basic entry level tube amp. It sounds and works as well as amps costing much more. Is it as good as a high end brand name head - no. Is it as good as other companies entry level heads of the same level yes and it costs half as much.

I'm hoping to use this amp as a back up and maybe a main for some tonal variations. What's stopping me is that a friend bought the same amp the same day. His shut down on him after 5 minutes of usage, which makes me leery of cranking this thing up as I don't want to be out the money I spent. Customer service was called and we were informed that this defect was common in this amp. Maybe that's why it was sold at such a low price. Behringer and Bugera are hard to service since their circuits are blacked out. Wondering If I made a mistake purchasing this amp.

I've been using it every day for a little over a week and have had no problems. I use it for my bass (clean channel), playing it through a 15" JBL 2226, and it sounds wonderful.

The first time I used it, it played fine. The second time I turned it on, it blew a tube and the power went out, essentially becoming a heavy piece of junk. I sent it back. Very disappointed. Burgera is essentially a Behringer, cheaply reverse engineered from better gear. I would tell you to skip this one, but they no longer make it. And wisely so. Weak.

I had previously bought one of the 6260 combos and it sounds incredible so I know that Bugera has the capability to make a killer sounding amp. Unfortunately I have received two of these units and they were BOTH dead on arrival.

The amp sounds great! Extremely powerful! Only problem is that it died right away.

However, the staff at MF was extremely helpful in getting this returned and refunded.

Wished it would have worked. I really liked it.

Amazingly beautiful clean tones and rich full drive and crunch tones. Way more than enough guts for my purposes, able to drive 2 12" Celestions to painful levels while staying extremely clear and clean.
