I bought this amp almost a year ago, and I've had no problems with it so far. When thing I love is the price! I use it all the time. When practicing or playing at church, I never have to go above half volume. It has alot of power! It's not very heavy either (luggin around my old gorrila stack was no fun). It's very durable too. It has fallen out of a moving car, gotten dumped in a snow pile and not to mention being thrown around for a whole year. I really love my crate.

If you do not have a decent bass, this amp works, but if you are playing on anything equal to or better than a Mexican Fender P bass, get a decent amp. I started playing on a cheap Joe Turser rental when I first started bass. The amp sounded fine then, but when I got my Fender J-Bass, I realized just how bad this amp was. I plugged my J-Bass into a 100 watt Fender Amp at school and my bass sounded 100X better. This amp gets noise when you turn up the higher equalization settings. My family also installed an Invisible Fence for our dog, and now I can hear the classic "beep beep beep...." from Crate 15 amplifier when ever I turn the gain up past half way. If you want to make an investment on a bass, make an investment on the amp too!

Crate BT15 Bass Combo

The Crate BT15 Bass Combo amp is pretty good for a beginner, like myself. The additions of a headphone jack, RCA outputs for CD players, and even a speaker jack for external speakers is what helped me decide on this product. Its a good practice amp and you'd be hard pressed to find another for the money.

Good for practice

This amp works for practice and thats about it. I will give it credit for having a good sound but as soon as you turn the gain to the 3 'o clock position, then you get the nasty distortion (the bad kind!). I play in a band at my church and when I turn the gain up and turn the pick-ups about 3/4ths of the way up, it sounds like there is too much treble coming out. It would be better to get a bigger combo like the BT50 or BT100.

Not a bad amp

By Rudi-EQD83

from Denver CO

I actually use it for keyboards because everything I play is too low to support a keyboard amp. It works pretty well, and for smaller gigs it can really kick up the power and give a clear sound. For only 60 some odd dollars its not a bad deal. I would recommend it for bassists and key players anywhere

Great for Beginners

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought this bass when I started playing, and it has been a great amp to practice at home. I've had no problems with it for the two years I've had it. It has nothing special, it isn't very loud, but it does what it should very well. A great amp for playing at home, but not much else. Overall: Great for beginners, especially for the price.

When I first got this amp, I was amazed at the soudn quality and overall volume it could handle. I even took this to a band practice with a 40 watt guitar amp and drums, and I could hear myself; Something I didn't think would happen. If you want a practice amp or are starting off playing, this is the amp to get.

great value for the $

By Bumperman

I tried several small practice amps in a couple of different music stores. I wasn't happy with them at all. They all seemed to rattle or distort. Was steered toward the Crate, tried it and bought it. The sound was great. Very compact and easy to tote around to friends homes for jam sessions. You'll be pleased!

for a practice amp. Obviously don't use this as a performance amp, but it has decent features and is a great value for a cheap amp.

I got this amp about 5 months ago from a music shop. This amp is overall pretty good for practicing at home. The only problems I have with it are, it has a very limited tone, and once you get over 1/2 of the gain, it starts to sound like crap. I recommend this one to any beginner for the good price, and its nice for practice.
