My friend was looking for a louder amp since before he only has a Fender 10 watt amp. When our band plays together, we could barely hear him. So we went to get a louder amp for him. We found this amazing Crate Amp. This amp is 65 watts, which is loud. It's great for band practices. The amp includes a footswitch. It has three channels: lead - heavy distortion, rhythm - a lighter distortion, and clean. There are two seperate EQs, one for distortion and one for clean. In the lead channel, there's this feature called "shape." It makes it sound cooler, but I don't exactly know what it's use for. It has many effects including wah, chorus, and reverb. You can control the three channels and effects through the footswitch. The thing that you can't do with the footswitch is change the effects, you could only turn the effects on or off. One cool feature I really liked is the lights. Now I can be styling at night and be bright! AND it comes with a sticker!

I have owned this amp for about a year, and then all the sudden a month and a half ago it started shorting out and the volume slide down to zero (that point where it is at zero, but still a little noise). I have had it fixed twice by a crate authorized shop, but after they fix it, i bring it home and it goes on the fritz 5 minutes into playing again. I am looking at a Marshall AVT 150 watt amp, and the 1960A marshall cab to replace this sad sad amp. Actually, if I can fix it, I may have to keep it at drummers house for band practices. But if you need to get an amp with power, I suggest buying the 120 watt version of this, because I only got this version becasue of a deal from Crate.

I really like the sounds of this AMP. I have beeen playing for 20 years and this is one of the better sounding small amps out there today. I have owned and played through many many different amps. It can almost sound like a Marshall stack or other large Amps, but it is not so if you want that true big tube amp sound buy big...I have only one complaint about the one that I bought from a local store. The amp rattled really bad. I thought the speaker was blown. But I found that all the screrws holding the thing together were not all tight. Tigtened them up and got rid of some of the noise. The grill cloth vibrates against the speaker baffle causing a buzzing sound. Poor workmanship, reason for average rating. This can and will fixed with some strategically placed foam rubber. Other than that well worth the money.
This is a great amp to upgrade to after you grow tired of your 10-20 watt starter amp. I believe it has 16 digital effects: touch wah, inverse wah, chorus, ocave divider, ect.(not quite pedal quality)I play my Epi Les Paul through it and the tone is quite satisfying. It has three footswitchable channels (footswitch included)clean, rhythm, solo. I have had no complaints except the less than pedal quality effects, but they are still good. Good amp for the money.
I am not pleased with this amp. It squeals like a stuck pig and is the sorriest amp I have ever owned, including the cheapos. I am in the process of trading it in on a better (but cheaper) one. Another peeve is the carrying grip. If it was flat with the casing I could sit something on top of the amp, but protruding upwards makes that impossible.
Every channel has a distinctive flavor to it. The clean channel was nice and smooth when I play my Les Paul through it. The gain channels are what really blow me away. All the Crate amps that I've tried have tons of low end. When I play my warlock through the rythm channel, I get a very bottom heavy distortion with tons of crunch. I kick in the solo channel for whenever I need an extra boost of gain. The footswitch is very simple and easy to use. The effects have lots of nice combinations for playing live. One thing I'd like to say about the effects though, is that there should be more solid effects. I would like for there to be a straight chorus effect but like most of the effects, its only avaliable while blended with other effects I don't want.
I have a lot of fun with it. Playing guitar for 35 years, I enjoy the versatility of those new gadgets. Mix with my Strat, it gives me lot of choices to get near the sounds of those 1970'rock.One of my band'partner own a Fender super reverb with 100 watts and I'm not shy playing beside him...
This is a great sounding amp for the price, but playing with people i wish i would have laid down the extra $$ for the 2x12 120 watt one.
This amp is awesome. I've owned it for quite some time now and I am still satisfied with the sound. I take it to each one of my band practices and will keep doing so. Some times the drummer even complains that it is overpowering the drums! The effects sound sweet, it has enough effects to cover most effects out there and the three channels all sound great. It's a little bulky, but I got used to it. I recommend this amp to ANYONE who needs an amp to play at a gig or just needs it to practice on.
You will never get the warmth of a tube amp... you just cannot get that extra cream with a solid state amp... Save your money and buy a TUBE!
I bought this amp for jamming with my friends. I needed somthing that would play over a drum set. This amp has done everything I've expected of it. The 12" speaker puts out good sound and if u need more power later you can hook on an extension speaker. The solo channel is good for METAL playing and the rythym is great for Classic rock. The Clean sounds real good with a little reverb. Good value!
This is an awesome amp. It is a solid-state but it sounds like a tube. 65 watts is plenty enough power. Dsp is alright if you use it occasionaly. If you want wah-wah get a pedal. It isn't that heavy and it has a nice handle and chromatic tuner. Dsp kind of sucks. The effects don't sound that good. If you use them some of the time its alright. clean channel is really good sounding. there is a lot of variety in this amp.
