I bought this cab without playing it, or even seeing it in person, merely on the opinion that Celestion is a fantastic company who makes quality products. That in mind, these speakers are some of the lowest quality Celestion makes, and this is by far the best cab I've used. The only one that has come close is the Madison 412...I forget the model. The other guitarist in my band plays an AVT150 through a 1960A cab, and we went back and forth over this cab. First of all, it dwarfs the marshall in size, but that's not everything. We switched my amp (crate glx1200h) with his on the crate cab, and his, and we both agreed that the crate outperformed the marshall by miles. For those of you thinking of buying it, get it NOW. These are discontinued, and once they're gone, have fun finding one.Switchable impedence, mono/stereo inputs...for this price this is an unbelievable deal. And my buddy, who spent well over 900 on his cab, is trading it in for this one. It's THAT good. Don't listen to people say that Crate doesn't make quality products, this cab has changed EVERYTHING.

You might be looking at this cab cause its price, dont let the size and amount of speakers in the cab mislead you. This cabinet is horrible. I have played through nearly every cab out there. Everyone starts somewhere, when I started playing guitar, I used a 120 watt crate COMBO... that was better than hooking a guitar head up to this. The speakers are horrible, and the sound gets softer the more you play it. Dont ever consider gigging with this cab, possibly not even a practice cab. ave your money, and spend a little more on a Marshall MG412. THAT is an AWESOME beginner/practice cabinet. I now use Mesa Amps, and Fender guitars.Marshall MG412 > Crate GT412

I've been waiting to get a cab for a long time and I finally chose this one. Not only because the great price, but it sounds killer! I used it in Guitar Center and I was surprised how much power it has. I recommend this to all players, metal, rock, blues, and country.

So you need a 4x12?

By Rivercityman

I do alot of gigging in clubs in the minneapolis/st. paul area, and my old 4x12 Crate Blue Voodoo was starting to go out on me. I had picked that cab up at the local pawnshop for $180. 2 of the speakers were going out, and I was losing volume. When I started looking for a new cab, having a metal grill instead of cloth was number one on my list. I found this cab on musicians friend, and loved the specs. So I ordered it and loved it even more. I run it with my Peavey XXL 100 watt head, and I have to say, it sounds beautiful. Night after night it produced tight tone, beautiful cleans, and ripping distortion. For the price, this cab is worth every penny. The only thing I wasn't 100% impressed with was the cabinets covering, the tolex doesn't stand up to tears as well as I would like. All in all, I give it an A.

MONSTER Tone on a budget!

By esprich

from millbrook, ny

ive had this cab for about a year and a half now and i must say, it is built like a tank! ive gigged with it all over, played shows where it has fallen down a few steps, knocked it over by accident, all to have it just brush off the few scratches it did have, and rock just as hard the next time. im running it through the crate VTX-350 head and WOW! this thing ROARS!!! its almost just as loud as a mesa tripple rec, with more crunch and just as much tone. if you want a full sized, heavy-duty, built to last cab than can deliver the goods, this is your choice. it should be around 6-8 hundred dollars, because thats the price ranged-cabs i have compared it to, and it always seems to come out on top.

Recieved blemished but still great sound

By Mark-8nN6U

from Chicago

I received it pretty dented up with silicone scattered over the speakers form the bag but after a cleaning never looked back.First, the cabinet sounds extremely clear, solid, and with a slights dark tone that adds a little warmth to an otherwise great sounding Celelstian experience. It seems to act very balanced on any load. I definitely prefer these over Celestian Class A as they are not as bright sounding and over the Greenbacks as they are too muffled.Heavy sounding cabinet with great bass kickback.

best bang for the buck.

I recently bought this on sale here, I was a little worried about buyers remorse, but when I got it that was shot down! I have a Line6 AX212 which I use as a head, an old school Jerry Horton sig Schecter with a Dimbucker on the bridge. And this cab shreds, it had the lower quality Celestions in it but still pushes good and sounds great! Too bad it's discontinued now, if you find one somewhere buy it you won't regret!

So far so good!

By Thatonejondude

I've had this cab for just about a little more than a year. No problems. Handles just about anything I set on top of it. I now use the new Crate Flexwave head to power it up. To this day, it still sounds amazing... To bad they're discontinuing them... I think I'll snatch another one to stack before they all go!!

Great sounding cab; Great Value

By Rick Davis

I play blues harp through this cab, powered by a Crate Powerblock looped out to a rack of digital effects modelers. Sounds killer. I A-B'ed this cab against similar cabs from Marshall, Fender, Peavey and Ampeg, and this baby was the punchiest and sounded best with the bullet mic and harp. Sounds better than stinky old tube amps...

This thing cranks!

By ChaseAFTR09

Great sounding cab. Just got it for my Marshall head and it sounds great, if you are afraid of turning it up all the way, don't be now because this thing can handle it, about 7/8 the way up the speakers hit hard and tight but get a little muddy at the peak, but with the extended warranty you can afford to crank it all the way, not to pricey, good quality and will make just about any head sound good, so have fun with it.

This cab compliments my BV120H head perfectly. The Celestions are awesome. I now have great tone!! You won't be disappointed. Doesn't get "muddy" sounding, stays clear, yet heavy.

Killer Cabinet

By bluefloraltele

from birmingham ala.

This cabinet is a monster in stereo mode. I run 2 Laney 15watt all tube amps on top of this in stereo and it drives like a madman. We play mostly blues ,classic rock, and country and this cabinet covers all phases very well. this thing has major tone! Trust me if you want the absolute most bang for your buck this is it. I play everything from 100 seat clubs to 5000 seat ampitheaters with this cabinet and it always delivers that great celestion tone so sought after by the tube purist like myself. My kid brother just bought one and uses a peavey 5150 head on his and he loves it for his heavy metal. If it can make metal sound good imagine what it can do for real music! Buy this, you will love it.

Crate GT412 SL

By John Stamos-xRnba

from the United States of America

I recently got this cab, and it did not disappoint. It is a slant front cab with 4x12" Celestion Seventy 80's that handle 80-5000Hz. The human ear can hear 20-20k Hz. I am running it with a Peavey Ultra Plus and a Jackson Dinky DK2. It has selectable ohm impedance via a switch on the back. Handles 120w all tube head with ease. No reason to not like this if you ask me.

Low Price, excellent cab

By tplslow

Great cabinet, got it cheap and love it. It really cranks, 320 watts and doesnt distort, just lets the tone come through and the distortion of your amp/pedals. I run a marshall avt150 through it pushed by a green screamer, and it rules the world!

Crate GT412 celestion cab

By CCH

from Atlanta, Ga

I own this cab. I'm running a GSP 2120 in a rack mount setup into a QSC 850 power amp (200W per channel)in stereo to the cabinet. The versatility is great, as the jacks and switch in the back allow you to select mono/stereo as well as 4 or 8 ohm impedance. This seems to be a slightly oversized cab. It is capable of putting out some impressive low end tones without getting too muddy or boomy. The Celestions sound decent, and the grill is free from buzzing and vibration at high volume levels. My only gripe is that the metal corner guards and the material it's covered in aren't as heavy duty as you'd get on a more expensive cab. But that's just it - it's not an expensive cab. It sounds better than the price would indicate. I would buy it again. Overall, an exceptionally good value that can hold its own with all but the most expensive 412's out there.

Great Cab on a Budget

By LedZeppFan1

Before I bought this, I used to use just a Marshall MG250 in my band. It worked fine till we got a much louder drummer who drowned out my combo. I decided to start searching for a cab. Between being a full time college student and car payments, I didn't have the money to afford anything high end at all. After reading the crap reviews on the cheap Crate cab, I decided on the slightly more expensive one. This cab has never let me down. The size, hardware, and speakers are soooo much better than the cheap Marshall's I tried. This thing is packed with 4 Celestion seventy-eighties. They sound great and can handle any volume. I now run the amp in my Marshall MG250 into the cab to give 100 watts of warm tone pumped out four quality speakers. I love Marshall and Mesa, but if your on a budget like me, this will get the job done and then some. I probably won't stop using it even when I can afford something better.

cranked, droped, shipped, okay with me!!!

By CHAINSNAP

from central wisconsin

I purchased this bottom to go with my gfx 220 head and top/slant cab. Fits excellently. I have abused this cab, droped it (actually the whole stack fell over and off the stage) shoved in and out of the bus hundreds of times and still works excellently. I use ESP guitars with EMG active pickups, a Boss GT 8 Processor and the clean chanel on my GFX 220 head. Thinking about buying another stack for at home.

Great cab/// but what do you have on top?

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Well...I own 2 of these cabs and they're great for the price. But your not going to notice any difference with these cabs if you have a crappy head. I had a crate 120w gl w/ effects on top and I played it as loud as hell, my lows were all muddy'd up and my highs sounded like they were turned up to 3! So I hooked up my rythm guitarists 200w laney tube amp up to these babys and it was a masterpiece! I highly recommend these cabs for any performing musician on the road like myself. They are a little heavy but I just keep the rollers on and I don't "stack" them. Overall a great product...to hell with marshall!
